  • Next Chapter

The ancient eyes opened beneath the tomb.

A red glow spread through the cracks in the floor.

Ronan felt the stone beneath his boots tremble.

The voice returned.

“ONE MUST DIE.”

Aren Draven stared into the darkness.

“No.”

Elias laughed.

“You heard it, little brother.”

Aren’s eyes hardened.

“I won’t die for your curse.”

Elias stepped through the broken wall.

Black veins covered his face and neck.

“You don’t understand.”

He pointed toward Ronan.

“The First Son carries the key.”

Then toward Aren.

“The Third Son carries the seal.”

Ronan raised his sword.

“And what does the Second Son carry?”

Elias smiled.

“The curse.”

Suddenly, the floor exploded.

A gigantic black hand burst from beneath the tomb.

The dead warriors were thrown into the walls.

Lyra grabbed Ronan and pulled him backward.

“Move!”

The hand slammed down where Ronan had stood.

Stone shattered.

Kael attacked the creature’s arm.

His sword struck the black flesh and broke.

Kael stumbled backward.

“What is that?”

Aren whispered:

“The thing beneath the First King’s tomb.”

The creature pulled itself upward.

Its body was larger than the chamber.

Ancient armor covered its shoulders.

Its face was hidden beneath a cracked iron mask.

Only two red eyes were visible.

The dead warriors immediately bowed.

Even Elias stepped back.

The creature spoke.

“BLOOD.”

Ronan’s sword began burning.

The creature looked at him.

“FIRST SON.”

Ronan raised his shield.

“I won’t give you anything.”

The creature roared.

The entire tomb shook.

Aren shouted:

“Ronan, don’t fight it!”

Ronan looked at him.

“Why?”

“Because it cannot be killed.”

The creature charged.

Ronan blocked its claw with his shield.

The impact threw him across the chamber.

Lyra fired three arrows.

They struck the creature’s face.

It didn’t slow.

Kael rushed forward.

“Ronan!”

The creature lifted its claw.

Before it could strike, Aren stepped between them.

The guardian behind Aren roared.

Aren raised one hand.

The dead army suddenly stood.

Every corpse turned toward the creature.

Then they attacked.

Thousands of dead warriors climbed over one another, covering the monster.

The chamber became a storm of bones, armor, and screams.

Aren looked at Ronan.

“Run!”

Ronan refused.

“I’m not leaving you.”

Aren smiled sadly.

“You always were stubborn.”

Elias suddenly grabbed Aren from behind.

A black chain wrapped around Aren’s throat.

Aren struggled.

“Elias!”

Elias pulled him backward.

“You’re coming with me.”

Ronan charged.

“LET HIM GO!”

Elias laughed.

“You still don’t understand, brother.”

The black veins on Elias’s body began glowing.

“The First King never wanted one son.”

He looked toward the creature.

“He wanted all three.”

The monster suddenly stopped fighting.

Its red eyes turned toward Elias.

Then it spoke.

“BRING THEM TO THE THRONE.”

Aren’s face turned pale.

“What throne?”

Elias smiled.

“The throne beneath the First Kingdom.”

The floor opened beneath all three brothers.

Ronan grabbed Lyra’s hand.

Kael grabbed his father.

But the darkness swallowed everyone.

As they fell, Ronan heard a final whisper from the ancient creature:

“THE FIRST KING IS WAITING.”
