Chapter 2631: Story 2632: The Bloodline War
The sky above the Forgotten City turned completely black.
The ancient crown on the First Heir’s head burned with crimson light as thousands of armored undead marched from the city gates.
Kael raised his shield.
“We’re not letting them reach the First Kingdom.”
Isabella stepped beside him.
“The Last March is ready.”
Behind her, hundreds of survivors formed a defensive line.
Mara loaded her crossbow.
Ethan raised his rifle.
Adrian looked toward the colossal throne approaching from the city.
“That throne is generating the energy.”
Kael glanced at him.
“Can we destroy it?”
“Maybe.”
Adrian pointed toward Lena.
“But we have another problem.”
Lena stood motionless.
Red energy surrounded her body.
Her eyes flickered between crimson and normal.
“I can hear them,” she whispered.
Kael approached.
“Who?”
“All of them.”
She looked toward the endless undead army.
“They’re calling me.”
The First Heir raised his hand.
Every undead creature stopped.
Then he pointed directly at Kael.
“Bring me the final blood.”
Kael stepped forward.
“You’ll never have it.”
The First Heir smiled.
“You still don’t understand.”
He removed the black crown.
“The blood does not belong to you.”
He held it toward the sky.
“It belongs to the first heir.”
The crown released a massive pulse.
Kael suddenly dropped to one knee.
Pain tore through his body.
His sword fell from his hand.
“Kael!” Lena screamed.
Elias rushed toward him.
But another pulse threw Elias backward.
Seraphine stared at the crown.
“He’s activating the bloodline.”
Adrian looked horrified.
“If he completes the ritual, every descendant carrying Origin blood will be connected to him.”
Kael struggled to stand.
“Then we stop the ritual.”
He grabbed his sword.
The red glow returned.
The First Heir laughed.
“Come, brother.”
Kael charged.
The distance between them disappeared in seconds.
Their swords collided.
The impact shattered stones beneath their feet.
The First Heir moved with impossible speed.
Kael blocked one strike.
Then another.
A third strike knocked him backward.
“You fight like the King,” the First Heir said.
Kael wiped blood from his mouth.
“I fight like myself.”
He attacked again.
This time, his sword struck the First Heir’s shoulder.
Black blood spilled.
The First Heir stepped backward.
His smile disappeared.
“You have awakened.”
Kael’s eyes narrowed.
“What?”
The First Heir looked at the glowing sword.
“The King’s power.”
Behind them, Lena suddenly screamed.
A red symbol appeared across her chest.
The First Heir turned toward her.
“The Queen is ready.”
Kael moved between them.
“Stay away from her.”
Veyr stepped forward.
“It’s too late.”
He raised a device.
The colossal First Throne began glowing.
Adrian shouted,
“The ritual has begun!”
The undead giants carrying the throne lowered it onto the ground.
Ancient symbols spread outward.
One reached Kael.
Another reached Elias.
A third wrapped around Lena.
All three siblings cried out as the symbols connected them.
Kael saw thousands of memories.
The ancient kingdom.
The first heir.
The birth of the bloodline.
The betrayal.
The experiments.
And finally, a terrible truth.
The First Heir had not created the bloodline to rule the dead.
He had created it to escape death.
Kael opened his eyes.
“You’re afraid of dying.”
The First Heir froze.
Kael smiled.
“That’s why you need us.”
The stranger’s face twisted with rage.
“Silence!”
He unleashed a massive wave of energy.
Kael raised his shield.
The impact drove him backward.
Lena suddenly stepped beside him.
“I know what he fears.”
Elias joined them.
“What?”
Lena looked toward the First Heir.
“Being forgotten.”
Kael raised his sword.
“Then let’s give him something he’ll never forget.”
The three siblings stood together.
Their blood began glowing simultaneously.
The First Throne cracked.
The First Heir stared at them in horror.
“No...”
A massive roar echoed beneath the Forgotten City.
The ground split open.
Something ancient began rising beneath the throne.
Veyr stepped backward.
“What did you awaken?”
Kael looked into the darkness.
“I don’t know.”
Another roar shook the mountains.
But this time, the First Heir looked afraid.
Because whatever was coming had been buried long before he existed.
