Hogwarts: This Dark Lord is Good?

Chapter 489: Must Have Been the Wind

Tom put his belongings back into his suitcase and locked it tightly before standing up.

“You’re not staying a few more days?” Mr. Riddle asked.

“No… I want to go see Wade. You know, he’s always been alone. I don’t know how he’s doing now.” Tom set his suitcase aside.

“That’s true… That child is different from you. You still have family like us around you, but he only has himself. You’re his friend, so you really should go see him,” Old Tom said, setting down the documents in his hand.

Old Tom looked much more energetic than before, almost like a different man sitting in that chair.

It had to be said that having a career really could change a man’s bearing, even one as stubborn as his.

“Yes…” Tom replied.

“Give him our regards. We wouldn’t be where we are today without his help,” Grandma Riddle said with a sigh.

“Understood. Then… I’ll be going.”

“How are you going to find him?” Old Tom asked.

“Don’t worry.”

Tom raised his hand and adjusted something on his ring, then immediately grabbed the suitcase beside him.

“Goodbye…”

Whoosh!

A light breeze swept through the room, and Tom and his luggage vanished from where they had been standing, leaving only the empty space.

Old Tom stared at the sight in surprise, still holding the documents he had been reading.

“Seriously, if we could travel like that too… we could at least save a lot on transport costs.”

Mr. Riddle smiled with satisfaction, clearly pleased by the change.

The fact that Old Tom could already think along those lines proved that he had finally adapted to his new role.

Who would have thought that the eldest son they had nearly given up on could actually be salvaged after all?

…

“No, that isn’t right. Casting it that way is faster, but you won’t be able to kill as many enemies with a single strike.”

Miravia held Wade’s hand and corrected the angle of his casting motion.

“Shift the angle a little more. That will widen the range of your attack, and you’ll be able to curse one or two more enemies to death. Don’t underestimate the importance of killing just one or two extra people. Their next spell might otherwise cause you serious trouble.”

In the garden in front of the moving castle, Wade and Miravia were discussing combat techniques as if nothing unusual was happening at all.

And once again, Wade gained a deeper understanding of Miravia’s unique approach to “area attacks,” along with the ruthlessness behind her killing intent.

When Dumbledore taught someone, he explained how to defeat an enemy.

But the gentle-looking Miravia, on the other hand, opened her mouth and immediately started talking about cursing people to death.

“Because ancient magic strengthens our spells, there’s no need to worry about splitting an attack and reducing its power. Even a small fragment of the Killing Curse is still enough to kill someone.”

As Miravia spoke, another vivid green curse shot from her wand. Midway through its flight, it split into more than a dozen streaks and struck a large group of targets in front of them.

Whoosh!

Tom had only just regained his footing when a Killing Curse flew past his ear, close enough that he felt the wind of it against his skin.

And the good friend he had been worried might be lonely by himself was currently leaning against a beautiful young woman, looking perfectly at ease.

Tom froze in place, unable to move for a moment, as if his feet had been fixed to the ground.

Never mind who the woman beside Wade was.

What exactly had just flown past his ear?

“Ah! Sorry, Tom! I forgot that was the teleportation point…” Wade was startled as well.

If Miravia’s wand had been angled even slightly differently, they might have been attending Tom’s funeral today.

Tom asked numbly, “I just want to ask… what exactly was that thing that passed by my ear?”

The young basilisk Sneak crawled out from Tom’s collar, flicked its tongue, and lightly licked Tom’s cold cheek.

“Oh, must have been the wind, Tom. You know… sometimes the wind can be a little sharp,” Wade said with an awkward smile.

“No… that was a spell. And it was green. I even felt a chill from it. Don’t tell me it was…”

“It wasn’t. Just the wind. Or maybe… you saw Sneak. You know, young basilisks are green too,” Wade insisted stubbornly.

Tom closed his mouth and tried to move aside.

Only then did he realise that his legs had gone weak and would not move at all, no matter how hard he tried.

The wind, my ass!

That was obviously the Killing Curse!

Which meant…

He had almost died just now?

When Tom finally processed what had happened, his face turned deathly pale and his lips began trembling.

Firing Killing Curses all over the place?

And then claiming they had simply forgotten about the teleportation point?

Tom recovered enough to start demanding an explanation.

But when he noticed that the person who had cast the Killing Curse was the woman standing beside Wade, he immediately shut his mouth and stayed quiet.

If he was not mistaken, this had to be the senior Wade had risked his life to rescue.

Anyone Wade was willing to pay such a huge price to save had to be terrifyingly capable.

Because Wade was the kind of bastard who never did anything without a benefit.

And…

Had she just been teaching Wade Dark Magic?

Someone capable of teaching a dark wizard like Wade Dark Magic…

Just how dark did that make her?

“Sorry. I should have used a different spell for the lesson,” Miravia said apologetically.

“It’s fine… but please don’t do that next time. Safety comes first. Killing me wouldn’t matter, but it would be a shame if these flowers and plants got damaged…” Tom forced a smile and immediately backed down.

Miravia looked at Tom with clear admiration.

“Wade, your friend is pretty impressive. A Killing Curse flew right past his ear, and he still stood there without moving! He was even worried about whether the flowers had been damaged. He’s very brave.”
