Hogwarts: Bloodline Legend

Chapter 1133 - 359: Evil Sun God

  • Next Chapter

The night is as dark as ink, slowly spreading from the east bank of the Nile River, swallowing the last remnants of the setting sun.

This final ray of sunset, like blood, akin to fading nourishment, is smeared on the top of the towering obelisk in Memphis City, gradually losing color. The streets of Memphis gradually fall silent in the dusk.

The bustling market during the day has long closed, merchants hurriedly return home, even the most mischievous children on the streets dare not linger at the alleys, everyone seems to have moved away, locking themselves tightly within their homes.

Outside each person’s house hangs an amulet that appears very ordinary, yet possesses a hint of mysterious magic power; even Ian couldn’t decipher its true nature after studying it.

The entire city seems to be shrouded by an invisible fear, even the wind is cautious, only daring to whisper under the eaves. Ian stands in the center of the empty street, the warning from the woman in the black robe still ringing in his ears. The night wind drags fine sand across the stone pavement, creating a hissing sound like a serpent.

"Why specifically nighttime? It’s normal during the day? To know that in Ancient Egypt, the Main God Ra is the Sun God, any issues should manifest during the day. Yet, his temple undergoes a concealed transformation at night, which is truly perplexing."

Ian gazes at the temple’s silhouette gradually consumed by shadows, unconsciously rubbing the patterns of his magic wand with his fingers. That woman could easily overturn the high tier priest’s decisions, indicating her unusual status, but her attitude was filled with contradictions—both a warning and a plea. He recalls the scepter priest’s twitching lips when mentioning "the master’s messenger."

It seemed less about reverence, more like... some kind of discontent.

Could it be that although she holds a venerable position in the temple, there are aspects beyond her control?

He ponders.

The woman in the black robe—a young woman with runes carved on her face, who claims to be "the servant of Ra"—why does she want to guide him? Why specifically say "visit the temple at night"?

She holds status in the temple, yet cannot speak openly?

She can influence the priest’s decisions but cannot appear personally?

Is she a warning voice or a guide? That woman perhaps stands as a being caught in between—she possesses authority but is bound by certain rules; she can save but cannot directly intervene.

Gradually, thoughts become clear.

A chilling intuition crawls up his spine.

"She is waiting for me," Ian whispers to himself, "she hopes I see something with my own eyes."

He raises his head to the sky.

The final ray of sunlight has completely vanished, stars emerge silently, the Milky Way spanning across the night sky, reflecting on the surface of the Nile River like a pathway leading to the Netherworld.

He knows that true secrets only emerge in the darkness.

After all, Ian suddenly realizes he might be standing at the edge of some ancient secret. In Ancient Egyptian mythology, nighttime is when the Sun God Ra traverses the Netherworld.

Perhaps it’s also the phase during which divine power is most vulnerable. It’s possible those priests want to deceive the Sun God Ra regarding something or, perhaps, even plan a rebellion?

Everything is possible. Certainly, understanding what transpires requires investigation, the moment when daylight completely fades, Ian’s form begins to twist and shrink.

A flash of faint light appears, his figure rapidly diminishes, skin transforms into pitch-black feathers, limbs into claws and wings—this is one of Hogwarts’ most wondrous magic.

Animagus.

Black feathers replace the linen robe, arms transform into wings, and in an instant, a raven soars upwards, its keen eyes shining with a dim light in the night.

He flies over the city, overlooking this once glorious capital.

Memphis during the day is prosperous, bustling, full of vitality.

Yet at night, Memphis resembles a ghost city; from the high altitude, the entire Memphis City presents a morbid silence. Streets are empty, even patrolling guards have long retreated, returning to their barracks. Households close doors and windows tightly, and weak candlelight leaks through the cracks, as if praying for the night to pass quickly.

Occasionally, a few dogs bark but stop abruptly within a few breaths, as if even animals sense some ominous presence. Ian passes over the market, stalls are cleared out, leaving only a few fabrics swayed by the wind, gently hovering, like ghostly banners.

Every house is tightly closed, even livestock pens are devoid of sound.

Even the nighttime guards no longer fulfill their duties, they merely rushed through the procedures before sunset.

Following.

Ian’s super legendary eyesight enables him to see these guards rapidly pulling back to the barracks, the clashing sound of their bronze armor in the silence is particularly piercing.

A young soldier accidentally drops his torch, the flickering light reflects his pallid face—he trembles, constantly glancing back, as if something more fearsome than military law lurks in the darkness.

It is noteworthy that the outside of these barracks are also adorned with protective talismans, and the quantity is far greater than that of ordinary households, making them the most superstitious among those least supposed to be superstitious.

"What on earth do those protective talismans mean..." Ian flies across the temple district, other divine halls—Horus, Thoth, Isis and the like, their fire pits have long extinguished.

Only the Sun God Ra’s temple remains brightly lit.

Ian quietly lands on the temple’s eaves. This grand building is constructed from massive limestone, its roof covered with gilded copper panels, glowing with a strange luster under the moonlight. The eaves’ four corners carved with eagle-headed statues, their eyes inlaid with obsidian, seem to watch every approaching soul in the darkness.
