Hogwarts: Bloodline Legend
Chapter 1123 355: Eye of the Ra Fragment 3
"...I heard the High Priest got angry again last night," said a tall, thin young man in a low voice. "All the scarab statues in the Holy Hall have turned towards the west, and no one dares to touch them."
"Shush!" His companion nervously glanced around. "Don't discuss this in public. Do you know how many people have been thrown into the dungeon for speaking too much lately?"
The third priest took a big gulp of beer and said drunkenly, "Who cares! Anyway, Ra hasn't shown any signs for a long time. I heard that even the Pharaoh is wondering if we've offended the Sun God..."
Ian's eyebrows raised slightly. Scarab statues spontaneously turning west? This is no good omen. In Ancient Egypt's symbolism, the west is a direction of death. And the silence of Ra is even more intriguing—historically, Egypt should be undergoing a religious revival during this period.
Just as he was pondering the significance of this information, a disturbance suddenly arose at the tavern's entrance. A ragged mad old man burst in, waving an oddly decorated staff.
"Disaster is coming!" The old man shouted hoarsely. "When Ra closes his eyes, darkness will devour the Nile! I see flames rising from the top of the pyramids, I see crocodiles wandering the streets!"
The tavern owner immediately approached with two burly men, who roughly escorted the old man out. But amidst the chaos, Ian keenly noticed a peculiar amulet hanging around the old man's neck.
An eye-shaped blue gemstone fragment, glimmering eerily under the oil lamps.
A shard of Ra's Eye?
No, it is not.
In Alchemy Master Ian's eyes, he could clearly discern that the amulet was a counterfeit artifact, rather crude in craftsmanship, but it was obviously a lead regarding Ra's Eye shard.
After all.
The presence of such a counterfeit proves that at least the amulet's creator must have encountered Ra's Eye shard, otherwise they could not have forged such divine-like resonance.
With this thought.
Ian quickly settled the bill, leaving a few copper rings as a tip, then quietly followed outside. The old man was thrown into the back alley, lying on the ground muttering to himself. Ian crouched down and asked gently, "Sir, your amulet is very special. Can you tell me where it came from?"
Upon hearing this.
The old man raised his head abruptly, a hint of clarity flashing in his cloudy eyes.
"You can see it?"
He asked in surprise, and then grew wary, "No, no, this was given to me by Ra. It allows me to see the truth... to see the impending disaster..."
This is not something from Ra.
The old man may have been deceived by some wizard.
Of course.
Ian wouldn't bother exposing such a con, as the amulet certainly wasn't entirely useless—it somewhat belonged to an alchemical counterfeit.
Due to imitating divine resonance, it indeed could reveal some future visions—however, whether these future visions are accurate depends on the creator's craftsmanship.
If the craftsmanship is subpar.
The visions seen might be nothing but chaotic illusions, even glimpses of discarded destinies might occur. Ian would need to conduct detailed research to know the specific situation.
"Don't worry, I'm a good person, just curious."
Seeing the old man's poor mental state, Ian cast a spell for inner purification magic on him, revealing his identity as a wizard.
Therefore.
Under the other's uncertain gaze.
He said words that sounded slightly aggressive.
"Can I touch your treasure?"
