His Obsession, His Redemption
Chapter 71: Soren’s vicious plan to destroy Theron.
Mr. Green’s smile vanished.
Seeing the color drain from his face, Soren curled his lips slightly with a humorless smile.
"Don’t worry. You will remain the owner of the company. You will retain your position and continue representing the company in public."
Soren leaned forward, his eyes turned icy. "But from the moment you agree to sign the agreement with me, you will no longer have the final say in how your company is run."
Mr. Green stared at him in disbelief. He couldn’t agree to such terms. Signing the agreement would mean surrendering all his authority to Soren. He would remain chairman in name only, but he couldn’t make any decisions.
Ironically, he couldn’t refuse.
This was the only way to save his company.
"Mr. Vale, isn’t that too much? I own the company. But if I sign the agreement, I’ll lose control over everything. I’ll be nothing but a caretaker of my own company."
Soren could see his hesitation clearly. "Too much?"
He snorted. "Your company is on the verge of bankruptcy. No one is willing to risk their money to save you."
He paused, letting the reality sink in.
"I am offering a way out. You can sign the agreement and keep the Green Group alive. Or you can walk out of my office and watch it collapse."
Mr. Green clenched his fists under the table.
Soren continued with an unhurried tone, "I am not merging your company with Vale Corporation. I’m not taking your ownership. But..."
His cold gaze settled on the disheveled man. "Don’t mistake that for generosity."
Mr. Green lowered his head. He had already promised to do whatever Soren demanded. Now that the company was on the brink of collapse, he had no choice but to honor that promise.
"Alright. I’ll sign wherever you want. Just save the company."
"That’s a wise decision, Mr. Green." Soren smiled slyly. "You will be a valued partner. We will work closely together."
Despite everything, Mr. Green managed a smile. At least, his company would survive.
"And you don’t have to divorce your wife over a small dispute," Soren added. "I don’t want to destroy someone else’s family."
Mr. Green gaped at him, stunned. "You are willing to forgive her?"
Soren nodded. "I don’t want my business partners distracted by problems in their personal lives. It could affect their judgment, and in turn, their business."
Mr. Green’s chest filled with joy. "Yes, yes. I’ll withdraw the divorce petition. I’ll treat her well. And I swear neither my wife nor my son will ever trouble your daughter again."
"Since we are going to work closely," Soren started, "there is one more thing you need to understand." His voice grew firmer. "You will follow my instructions without questioning them."
Mr. Green gave a nod eagerly. "I already agreed to do anything you say. Just tell me what you need, and I’ll do it."
Soren smirked, a calculating look in his eyes.
’A desperate man is easy to control. He’ll do anything to save his company. He is the perfect tool I need to deal with Theron.’
A plan started taking shape in his mind.
Theron wanted to establish himself in the city with a big project.
Soren would make sure the project failed. He would use Mr. Green to trap and bring his rival down.
Soren’s smile faded, his expression turning serious. "You will approach Theron Knox in a few days."
"Theron Knox?" Mr. Green’s eyes widened. "The new businessman from abroad? He has just returned and merged his family business with his own company he had started a few years ago. Are you interested in his small business venture?"
"You won’t ask questions."
Mr. Green pulled his chin down. "Understood. I’ll approach Mr. Knox. But..." He lifted his head and met his gaze again. "What will I offer him?"
"He is looking for an investor for his project," Soren replied. "And soon, he will need suppliers too."
Mr. Green’s expression turned pensive as he listened to him intently.
"You will tell him you are interested in his project," Soren added. "You will give him everything he needs. Offer him enough money to accelerate the construction, and supply the materials he needs."
Mr. Green remained silent. He couldn’t understand what Soren was planning.
Soren could see his hesitation. "Don’t worry. I’ll arrange everything—the funds and supply. But he shouldn’t know about my involvement in it. You will work with him and report to me."
Mr. Green didn’t even realize his mouth had fallen open.
"You will make him believe that the Green Group is the partner he has been looking for. Give him a reason to trust you. Let him expand the project, take on more commitments, and move forward with his plan. But he can’t find out I’m funding this entire project."
Mr. Green thought Soren had some weakness for this man named Theron Knox.
’He is doing everything to help that man expand his business. But he wants to keep his involvement a secret. He is quite generous and humble.’
His curiosity about Theron Knox grew. He wanted to know what kind of relationship Soren had with Theron.
But he didn’t know what Soren’s real game was.
Soren had never intended to help Theron. He was doing all this to set a trap to destroy him.
He would make Theron believe that the project was running smoothly, that everything was fine. But he would withdraw his support when Theron needed it most.
Theron used his return to the country to challenge him, to snatch his wife from him. Soren wouldn’t watch silently and let him do anything that Theron wanted.
"It’s noble that you are helping him yet keeping it a secret," Mr. Green said. "But I think there is no need to keep it a secret. You should tell him. Why don’t you approach him directly?"
Soren chuckled. "You think I am helping him. No..."
Mr. Green’s smile vanished right away. "What? Then why do you want to invest in his venture?"
"Because I want to destroy him," Soren said without hesitation.
Mr. Green’s face turned ghostly pale. All his calculations crumbled at that point.
"I want you to understand that every business decision has consequences." Soren leaned back in his chair, drumming his fingers on the armrests. "He believes that because he has started a business abroad from scratch, he can establish himself here after challenging me."
A cold smile touched his lips.
"Let’s see how confident he remains when the project he has invested everything in starts to fall apart."
Looking at his proud and ruthless demeanor, Mr. Green felt nothing but chill. He couldn’t understand how Theron had offended Soren. But one thing he realized: Soren was someone he couldn’t afford to offend.
’If I want to survive, I have to obey him.’
Mr. Green swallowed. "I get it." He nodded. "I’ll do as you say. But what if he finds out I work for you?"
"Then you failed to play the part," Soren said flatly. "You will face the consequences."
Mr. Green’s heart sank. "I-I’ll be careful," he stammered.
"Careful is not enough," Soren said almost immediately. "You have to act convincingly. Tell him that you hate me because I canceled the contracts with you and caused you financial losses. Make him believe that you want to work with him so you can have someone to fight me. Understood?"
Mr. Green gaped at him in shock and disbelief.
"I don’t want any mistakes," Soren said, his tone turning heavy with warning. "Remember what is at stake."
Mr. Green lowered his head, clearly getting the message. "I understand. I’ll make sure he never finds out about your plan until it was too late."
"Good." Soren straightened in his seat. "Now leave. My team will reach out to you and hand you over the agreement. I’ll tell you when you will approach Theron."
Mr. Green stood up. "Thank you, Mr. Vale."
He gave him a nod before walking out of the office.
Soren watched the closed door coldly. ’Theron... You thought I would just hand over my wife to you. Now that you’ve challenged me, face the consequences.’
