Chapter 2879 - 1100: The Storm Begins
Chapter 2879: Chapter 1100: The Storm Begins
Agatha Christie once said, one coincidence is merely a coincidence, two coincidences become a clue, and three are evidence.
The frequent incidents in the Silent Forest coincidentally linked to the unrelated events of the downfall of the Black Wizard Walter and the establishment of the Edge Academy on a timeline.
More coincidentally, Zheng Qing had some involvement in all these affairs.
As the young teaching assistant counted on his fingers, he was astonished to find that all clues vaguely pointed to himself—he was a teaching assistant at the Edge Academy, holding an important position in the Edge Academy project team; he played a significant role in the battle against the Black Wizard Walter, for which the Alliance even awarded him a Merlin Gold Medal; and worse yet, among the frequent incidents in the Silent Forest, the one involving the Horseman Tribe happened not long after he visited the campsite!
What a ridiculous joke!
He always knew his divination talent was poor and that he wasn’t someone good at deduction, but he didn’t expect that a momentary itch would yield such a conclusion!
In his desperate illness, he sat up in shock, realizing the fool was himself.
Could I be an undercover big shot Raven, merely sealing off my own memories, leading to this pure and innocent feeling?
The boy’s expression was uncertain, making the Fat Wizard next to him shiver.
"Did you think of some clue?" he suppressed the excitement in his heart and asked softly.
Unexpectedly, the boy on the opposite side jumped up as if his tail had been stepped on.
"What clue! No clue! Why would I think of a clue!" Zheng Qing emphatically denied thrice, grabbed the forever unreadable exercise books on the desk, and ran off in a flash.
With exams approaching, he didn’t have much time to waste on these nonsensical matters!
Xin Fat Man watched Zheng Qing’s rapidly disappearing figure.
Confused, he blinked his small eyes.
Then he turned to look at the Fat Cat curled up in a ball and dozing at the corner of the table. His confusion immediately dissipated, replaced by a feeling of loneliness: "——Tuan’er! From now on, it’s just the two of us left to rely on each other! You better not leave me alone!"
The Fat Cat remained motionless, only its ears folding down flexibly, blocking the Fat Wizard’s howls.
...
...
Zheng Qing donned the Invisibility Talisman and, for the first time in ages, slipped into the library’s aisles between the shelves, hoping to use the vast reading atmosphere here to wash away the chaotic and disorganized thoughts in his mind.
——As a wizard, you can believe in destiny, but never in coincidences!
——Destiny is the truth, while coincidences are nothing more than tricks for kids!
He encouraged himself inwardly, flipping open "The Chronicles of Artu Groot," planning to fill his mind with the experiences of the Legendary Wizard.
As for the subjects for the upcoming final exams, he felt the Gem Cat has been learning quite well lately. Why replace it? It spent twelve hours a day under the Cat Fruit Tree receiving guidance from a Big Wizard, wasn’t that better than himself foolishly flipping through textbooks?
A satisfied smile hung on the boy’s face.
He felt more spirited about reading.
Just when he thought this noon would pass by in this manner, he suddenly heard some commotion. He propped himself up, tilted his head, and peeked out through the gaps between the shelves and books, surprised to find that the once-crowded library was beginning to seem a bit empty, with all the students rapidly running out—he was sitting between the shelves because of the approaching finals, and the library’s tables had all been occupied by the diligent red-robed ones, yet, in a blink, so many emptied out!
Was I too absorbed in studying, forgetting the time?
This was the first thought that flashed through his mind, but after glancing at the "The Chronicles of Artu Groot," which he had only turned two pages of, he eventually decided not to waste time fumbling for his pocket watch and instead stood up and removed the Invisibility Talisman, following the crowd out.
"Is there going to be an earthquake?"
He casually asked a fair and clean witch, who was likewise hastily trotting outside—it was the second possibility that came to his mind.
"What earthquake? An Earth Dragon turning over? How could an Earth Dragon dare turn over under the First University’s Book Mountain Hall!" the witch, seemingly recognizing his identity, looked at the boy with great interest a few more times.
Oh, she’s a Sichuan Wizard.
"Is Alpha fighting with Jiuyou students again?"
Zheng Qing considered a third possibility—apart from natural disasters, only this human mishap could make the red-robed ones collectively rush out of the library during finals.
"Something like that." The witch slightly slowed down, walking alongside him, enthusiastically explaining: "It seems the fishmen of Lin Zhong Lake are being unruly again, dragging two first-year junior girls into the water and snatching their belongings..."
Lin Zhong Lake is situated right in front of the Book Mountain Library.
Only separated by a small plaza.
No wonder it immediately caught the young wizards’ attention.
When Zheng Qing arrived downstairs, the usually somewhat empty small plaza was already filled with angry red-robed ones, interspersed with a few blue-robed and white-robed ones shouting rowdily, wishing for chaos.
Soon, through word of mouth from the crowd, Zheng Qing learned of more details.
The girl just now hadn’t been detailed enough. To be precise, after dragging the two first-year witches into the water, the fishmen stripped off their robes—fortunately, they left them with their underwear, preventing a complete tearing of relations—despite this, the witches’ wails caused quite the clamor around them.
"Drain the lake!"
"Whose Lin Zhong Lake is it anyway!"
"I’ve told you they’re just a bunch of beasts!"
"It’s better to poison than to drain! Don’t anyone throw mandrake juice, Duanchang Powder, Qian Ji Yin, love beans, Mountain Lady’s Tresses, or the venom of Red Chain Snakes and bamboo leaf green into Lin Zhong Lake when the patrol isn’t around at night!"
"But those are too costly! Throw dragon dung! No, throw ogre dung!"
"Yes, throw Fence Fairy dung!"
The chaotic voices rose and fell, with several spells occasionally cast into the water. However, due to the protection array in the lake, those spells had almost no effect.
Soon, before the young wizards could make any more rash decisions, a large group of grey-robed and black-robed ones rushed into the plaza.
"——Everyone, calm down! Don’t let emotions take over! The school will give everyone an explanation! The finals are coming up, don’t impulsively do anything you’ll regret!"
"——The School Works Committee is urgently communicating with the Elder Council of the Lin Zhong Lake Fishman Tribe, and an acceptable resolution will be given soon!"
"——Classes will start soon, everyone scatter, don’t block traffic!"
"——Don’t disrupt normal teaching order!"
Under the school’s alternating soft and hard statements, the young wizards eventually dispersed, grumbling. Throughout, Zheng Qing never saw the two supposed scantily clad witches.
Which disappointed him somewhat.
