Chapter 876 - 895: Civilization Is Sometimes Also a Weapon

Today, the busiest department was the Cabinet’s communication center.

The 24-hour hotline was on the verge of crashing. Every single incoming message was from fans demanding that Admiral Mo be appointed as some sort of inspector! With too many messages flooding in, the communications department swiftly reported the situation to the Cabinet. The higher-ups were puzzled by this bizarre news and opened the Star Network to take a look. After seeing what was happening, some of them were completely dumbfounded. They wondered what in the world all this was.

After the resolution was released yesterday, wasn’t the plan to make Mo Si’s disregard for the law public knowledge? To their shock, when they opened the Star Network today, the trending topic about Mo Si and the law was nowhere to be found. Instead, the hashtag demanding he become the inspector was hanging high on the charts.

This was not a good sign. Consequently, the Cabinet swiftly rang the assembly bell, initiating a second round of discussions.

The data regarding Q3 was surging every day. It was entirely predictable that if no explanation was provided, the internet would never let the matter rest. The netizens’ suggestion wasn’t actually a bad idea—they really should send an inspector to check things out. They could just casually find a few minor faults, close the book on the matter, and save themselves from the endless online clamor.

Everyone quickly reached a consensus on selecting an inspector. However, it absolutely could not be Mo Si. They had to pick someone else.

But who should they choose?

Being an inspector was a highly coveted position; just taking a stroll over there would guarantee plenty of perks. At first, everyone fought over the position. But right in the middle of the meeting, the captain of the Cabinet’s Guard Team unexpectedly walked into the conference room.

The Speaker frowned as the captain of the Guard Team approached and whispered a few words in his ear.

"What?" the Speaker said in shock.

"What does it look like out there?" he demanded after a brief report.

"Well... it’s not exactly easy to just kick them out," the captain replied hesitantly.

"This is not a place for them to stir up public opinion storms!" The moment the Speaker heard the guards report that thousands of people had gathered nearby to petition for Q3 and demand Mo Si’s appointment as inspector, his mind instantly conjured images of a packed, chaotic mob holding up cheap signs and shouting slogans. Doing this kind of thing here was disturbing the peace! He ordered the captain of the Guard Team to immediately escort the people away.

The captain of the Guard Team looked deeply conflicted. If it were just a rowdy mob, would he have even needed to come in and ask for instructions?!

"Speaker, you should see it for yourself," the captain said.

The meeting paused for a moment. On the large projector in the conference room, the scene from the reception hall quickly appeared.

To be honest, upon seeing the footage, everyone was in a state of disbelief. Thousands of people were lined up in pairs, forming a highly orderly queue stretching from the gates all the way into the reception hall. Everyone was dressed neatly. While some did have banners in their hands, they merely held them up. They weren’t waving them around erratically, nor did the banners use bizarre colors or fonts. It was just simple black text on a white background.

Furthermore, everyone was waiting patiently in line. After entering the reception hall, they all orderly found seats. Those without seats stood quietly, and everyone began filling out survey forms. The scene on the screen was completely silent. If it weren’t for the occasional voice asking how to fill out a certain part of the form, they would have assumed the camera robot’s audio system was broken.

No wonder the captain of the Guard Team said they couldn’t just kick them out. Faced with a situation like this, if they forced the people to leave, the Cabinet would be entirely in the wrong.

Amidst the shock, someone in the meeting room suddenly spoke up. "If an inspector goes to check on that planet, won’t they be constantly scrutinized by the public?"

They all wondered if that would be the case. Previously, no one cared about this because most netizens only had a fleeting interest. But looking at the current situation, would this really die down so easily? If too many people paid attention to this, they absolutely couldn’t just go through the motions and do a half-hearted job. However, if they actually conducted a thorough investigation, they were bound to offend people. Who would want to be the one taking the heat?

Suddenly, the inspector position was no longer a hot commodity.
