Chapter 2324: Chapter 1931: 100,000 Square Meters Exhibition Hall

The dinner at Old Yang’s house was especially lavish.

That lamb, seven or eight months old, right at the best age for eating, was taken by the chef and made into everything from yellow-braised lamb to roast ribs to hand-held lamb—he did the whole set!

To ensure the perfect flavor, he tried to use the Song Family’s ingredients for everything. If they didn’t have something, he’d rather just do a clear stew.

Then there were the chickens, the ducks... hey!

They really couldn’t eat any more!

The couple made all sorts of trade-offs before finally deciding to only do lamb, with a few other dishes on the side.

But for Song Tan and Lun Chuan, any chef who could be kept on long-term by Old Yang’s house was obviously going to be extra delicious!

The chef’s skills really were on par with Seventh Uncle’s, not a bit worse, and he had both fine dining and homestyle dishes completely under control.

Plus, they’d been eating Seventh Uncle’s cooking every day at home, so now suddenly getting to try a new flavor, another chef’s style—that was pure bliss!

No one even mentioned drinking.

Everyone sat in the icy air-conditioning in the blazing summer heat, sipping steaming hot lamb soup, sweating all over from head to toe, and it was just indescribably comfortable.

Only when they were totally stuffed and really couldn’t eat another bite did they go out to the lawn to walk around, get some air, and start talking business.

For example, all the precautions for the expo.

Old Yang only talked about the big picture; more detailed matters would need Song Tan to go there tomorrow and discuss them with the assistant on-site.

But just talking about the floor area alone—before she’d even seen it in person, Song Tan was already completely satisfied.

Since Old Yang had picked the spot, he naturally knew it best, and now explained:

"Normally, at something like our Qin City autumn expo, booths in the agricultural section for small enterprises are about 9 square meters. There are plenty of slightly larger ones that are 18 square meters too."

The 36-square-meter ones get booked by big companies from the start and never stay empty.

"But our booth has its pros and cons."

It was originally part of the storage area, with the back door leading straight to a small door to the parking lot; people unfamiliar with the layout wouldn’t make their way there.

With no foot traffic, buyers who want to close deals generally won’t pick that area, which is a huge downside.

But for Song Tan, that was no problem at all—having a wide open area was way more interesting than a little cubicle.

Plus, if you turn the corner and walk a bit farther ahead, you hit the restroom—each exhibition hall has its own restrooms; altogether there are 24 for men and women, and with this one in the storage area, that makes 26 in total.

Granted, because this area is so out of the way, not many people come here, so the restroom won’t have much impact, but it still sounds a bit unseemly.

But no matter what you say, the floor area really was over 30 square meters!

Old Yang explained, "We did sign up a bit late; by then all the slots had been decided for quite a while. I thought, with this much space, it would be easier for you to set up however you like."

"But there’s another downside: there’s no basic infrastructure at all. If you choose this hall, every bit of design, matching, shelves and such will cost a lot more to set up."

With a mature expo like this, the budget a company can allocate is fixed. But Old Yang had thought it over:

"I figured our family isn’t too fussed about these little expenses, so I took it upon myself to arrange it this way."

How was that "taking it upon himself"? This was clearly Old Yang being public-spirited and considerate toward the younger generation!

Song Tan didn’t even need to say anything; with just a couple of words of thanks from Lun Chuan, the couple already felt delighted.

Now that they were fed and comfortable, the whole world seemed especially beautiful. Any big or difficult issue felt negotiable with Old Yang.

Seeing the smiles all over Song Tan and Lun Chuan’s faces, he warmly added, "If it’s not suitable, just tell me. I can still find someone to swap it for a smaller, prime location."

With their status as hosts, if they really wanted to swap, it wasn’t impossible.

But Song Tan was already shaking her head over and over.

"No, no, we already love this size. The location doesn’t matter at all."

And it really didn’t matter.

The next day, when they arrived at the exhibition hall, the assistant led them up through the little door from the parking lot, and in just a few steps they saw that huge open space!

The assistant introduced as they walked:

"Right now the venue covers 100,000 square meters, with over 20,000 agricultural products on display. The whole area will be divided into 12 halls—from smart agriculture to tech halls, plus a premium brands section. When foot traffic is low, they’ll even invite industry experts to hold exchange sessions in the conference rooms..."

These were things they’d already read about in the materials, but hearing the assistant explain them so properly, even Song Tan felt her blood stir a little, and decided that this time their booth could not be as simple as before.

As for whether the restroom next to this big exhibition area would affect them...

There was a restroom, yes, but in any big expo like this, no one would stick a restroom in the middle, so you had to follow the signs, walk several dozen meters to a corner, then go deeper in to reach the restroom entrance.

Right now it wasn’t the prime period for booth setup yet, so there weren’t many people, and there was no smell at all—

And even if there was, it wouldn’t be a big deal.

Discussing things like refrigerated display cases and electric grills with the assistant, Song Tan also said:

"If we’re allowed to burn incense then, we’ll use the tea-scent incense Xiaolun made. If we’re not, we’ll just throw some orange peels on the electric grill."

Their green oranges were all round and plump, full and glossy.

Though they weren’t ripe yet, just looking at them for a bit made your mouth water unconsciously; there was definitely no lack of that tangy fragrance.

The assistant reminded her:

"If we’re using an electric grill, are we going to hire outside staff? If so, we’ll need their health certificates submitted as well."

"Also, food sampling doesn’t require a business license, but it does need to be reported to the expo organizers in advance. Fire safety checks and kitchen waste disposal procedures also have to be submitted ahead of time."

"If you’re not here, I can handle all that on your behalf. Just send me the electronic copies of the health certificates."

The assistant was thorough and meticulous.

Song Tan was all warmth: "Okay, thank you. If you have time, swing by our booth a couple of times. We’ll give you some fruit, roast some chestnuts and sweet potatoes for you to eat."

The assistant was so happy his eyebrows were about to fly off his face. He secretly clenched his fists, thinking he’d really caught a lucky break!

When the time came, he’d eat one sweet potato there to see for himself what this so-called "father and son competing" specialty from Old Yang’s house tasted like!

And then tuck another one in his coat to take home for his wife and kids.

Song Tan thought for a bit and then asked Lun Chuan, "Should we prepare a few more electric grills? Since it’s so out of the way here and people won’t come all at once, we can slowly eat barbecued meat ourselves."

Showcasing the quality of their meat was something they were very confident about.

"Hey, that won’t do!" The assistant hurriedly stopped that idea.

Exactly.

After all, the restroom was right next door. You couldn’t guarantee someone wouldn’t get suspicious because of that—if they were squatting in the toilet and suddenly caught a whiff of grilled meat and got hungry, wouldn’t they start reflecting on their sins when they pulled their pants up? 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

"It’s fine. The aroma of sweet potatoes is pretty overpowering too," Lun Chuan said with a laugh.

As for how to arrange and plan out this big open area...

The two of them really didn’t have any experience with that, so after thinking it over, they simply entrusted the whole matter to the assistant as well.

They only had one requirement: that while it looked good, it should be easy for people to get in and out, and convenient for them to use their supporting facilities.
