Chapter 1063 - 771: Entering the Divine Hall (Part 3)
Chapter 1063: Chapter 771: Entering the Divine Hall (Part 3)
Mo Yan’s face suddenly changed, and he immediately strode forward, kicked him, and directly knocked him to the ground, angrily scolding, "Fumbling around, truly embarrassing the City Lord! Hurry up and clean this mess up!"
This sudden commotion interrupted the atmosphere at the scene. The envoy said, "City Lord, no need to be angry, leave it to us."
So he called some people over to clean up the scattered Crystal Stones on the ground. During this brief moment of distraction, naturally, there was no time to monitor, Shen Tang and Lu Xiao took the opportunity to exchange identities with the puppets they had prepared and stick the Concealing Talisman on themselves, silently leaving the team and slipping into the narrow alley between two warehouses.
Meanwhile, on the other side, all the goods were cleaned up and moved into the warehouse. Mo Yan’s task was completed, and he swaggered back with his team.
The beastmen on the Divine Hall side didn’t notice anything wrong, continuing with their original work.
Shen Tang and Lu Xiao seized the chance to hide in a secluded narrow alley and only poked their heads out after a patrol team passed by.
"Let’s check the north side first," Shen Tang whispered.
Lu Xiao nodded.
The two moved north along the shadows of the buildings, stopping occasionally to observe their surroundings.
The layout of the Outer Zone was too regular, every road looked similar, with gray-white buildings lined up like a maze.
There was no sound of people, only the orderly footsteps of the patrol team echoing from afar, sometimes near, sometimes far.
After walking for more than half an hour, they finally crossed the warehouse district and entered a denser area of buildings.
The streets here were narrower, and the buildings taller, squeezing the sky into a narrow slit. Occasionally, people in white robes hurried by, expressionless, like programmed machines.
Shen Tang quietly extended her spiritual power forward, exploring and avoiding patrols and pedestrians, deliberately choosing empty alleys to walk through.
She needed to find the entrance to the Central District.
But the Outer Zone was too large; just this area of buildings seemed endless. Every road looked similar, every building the same, making it easy to lose direction as they walked.
Lu Xiao suddenly stopped, pulled Shen Tang into the doorway, and watched ahead with caution.
"What’s wrong?" Shen Tang withdrew her spiritual power to prevent her energy from being exposed and detected, thus increasing her sensitivity to danger.
As she whispered the question, she suddenly realized something, and her expression froze as she followed his gaze to the side.
At the end of the alley, several figures were walking towards them.
The person leading them moved with a lazy, boneless demeanor, wearing a dark robe with golden patterns embroidered on the hem, completely different from those white-robed people.
With long, purple-red curly hair draped over his shoulders, eyes slender, skin extremely pale, his lips seemed blood-red as if stained, his appearance was both enchanting and handsome, resembling a poisonous poppy, a colorful, venomous butterfly.
Shen Tang recognized him, it was Mansa from their previous encounter!
He had several followers walking respectfully behind him, head slightly lowered.
"Holy Seat, the tribute inventory for Outer Zone this month has been organized, please review."
Mansa took the offered Crystal Stone Plate, flipped through it casually, and handed it back, "It’s short."
"Yes, a few small tribes in the northeast failed to pay the purification tax on time this month, we have sent people to urge them."
"Urge?" Mansa’s voice was dangerous, a lazy allure to the extreme, "No need to urge, if they don’t pay next month, then they don’t need to pay."
The followers’ bodies tensed slightly, then they bowed their heads, "Yes."
The group passed the alley entrance, only a few meters from where Shen Tang was hiding.
Shen Tang held her breath, her heart rate slowed down.
She clearly saw Mansa’s profile, just as exquisite as the last time she saw him, his eyebrows carried a lazy, nonchalant calm.
But as his eyes scanned the surroundings, Shen Tang always felt like he was looking for something.
That gaze swept over the direction where she was hiding.
It didn’t linger.
Mansa withdrew his gaze and continued forward. The footsteps gradually faded away and disappeared at the end of the alley.
Shen Tang waited for a while to ensure they had moved on, before slowly exhaling.
"Do you know him?" Lu Xiao asked quietly.
"Met him," Shen Tang whispered very low, "In the Divine Hall’s laboratory base. He’s called Mansa, those people call him the Holy Seat."
Lu Xiao’s brow furrowed slightly, "Very high status."
"Very high," Shen Tang replied, "so high that he doesn’t belong here in the Outer Zone."
She watched the direction where Mansa disappeared with a tight feeling in her chest.
Fortunately, they weren’t discovered.
But this reminded her — the Outer Zone might be large, but the core figures from the Divine Hall also moved around here. She couldn’t afford to be careless.
"Let’s move." Shen Tang withdrew her gaze, lowering her voice, "First, find a safe place to settle, and figure out the layout of the Outer Zone. The matters of the Central and Inner Zones can’t be rushed."
Lu Xiao nodded.
The two merged back into the shadows of the alley and continued north.
The Outer Zone was far larger than they imagined. Gray-white buildings stood like an endless maze. Patrol footsteps echoed from all directions, occasionally white-robed people hurried by, with no words spoken, no pauses taken.
As Shen Tang walked, she mentally mapped the route.
She needed a complete map.
At the least, she had to figure out the actual size of the Outer Zone, the location of the Central District’s entrance, and — why Mansa was here.
