Hello, Comrade. I'm Here to Marry You!
Chapter 209: He’s Being a Green Tea
In truth, Xu Jiaxin never did these kinds of chores either.
But she was also worried about Su Zhaozhao.
She didn’t know why Xu Jiaming had shown up here, but she was determined not to let him be alone with Su Zhaozhao.
The kitchen wasn’t very large, and with three people standing in it, it felt a little crowded.
Su Zhaozhao looked at Xu Jiaming. "Jiaxin is here to help. You can go out for now."
Xu Jiaming smiled. "I can help too."
"Brother, just go. Uh, you go talk with them. Aren’t you better at socializing? I’m no good at that sort of thing."
The moment she finished speaking, she saw Xu Jiaming shoot her a warning glare. The look was so menacing it sent a chill through Xu Jiaxin, making her feel cold to the core.
She knew that after they left, Xu Jiaming would definitely make her pay.
’AHHH! What else could I do? Otherwise, Zhaozhao and I couldn’t even be friends anymore.’
’I’m seriously going to die,’ Xu Jiaxin thought.
"Still not leaving?" Su Zhaozhao had also noticed Xu Jiaming’s threatening gaze toward Xu Jiaxin. "Jiaxin, don’t be afraid of your brother. If he dares to bully you, just tell my grandpa and grandma."
Xu Jiaming’s sinister expression vanished in an instant. He looked at Su Zhaozhao with a wronged expression. "Jiaxin is the one who’s always bullying me..."
Xu Jiaxin: "???"
’Xu Jiaming, how can you lie so shamelessly through your teeth?’
But she didn’t dare to actually tattle on him. After all, anyone who could put Xu Jiaming in his place probably wouldn’t survive long in this world.
Xu Jiaxin decided she wasn’t tired of living just yet.
In the end, under Su Zhaozhao’s stare, Xu Jiaming had no choice but to turn and leave.
He was a little afraid of making Su Zhaozhao angry. The last thing he wanted was for her to ignore him.
Once Xu Jiaming had left, Xu Jiaxin immediately said to Su Zhaozhao, "Zhaozhao, I’m sorry, I’m so, so sorry! Oh my god, I swear I didn’t tell my brother. He found this place on his own."
But even so, Xu Jiaxin was overwhelmed with guilt.
If she hadn’t come looking for Su Zhaozhao at her grandparents’ house, Xu Jiaming wouldn’t have had an excuse to come in.
Knowing her brother’s personality, he probably would have just hidden in some dark corner outside, watching cautiously.
He would never have dared to come inside.
But now...
"It’s okay, I know. I don’t blame you," Su Zhaozhao told Xu Jiaxin, trying to get her to relax.
"Besides, it’s not like he’d dare do anything to me. By the way, when are you two heading back?"
Hearing this, Xu Jiaxin pouted. "Are you that eager for me to go back?"
Su Zhaozhao wouldn’t even go out with her, and now she was asking when she was leaving. To be honest, it really hurt her feelings.
Seeing Xu Jiaxin’s hurt expression, Su Zhaozhao couldn’t help but lean in and whisper in her ear, "That’s not what I meant. I just wanted to ask when your brother is going back."
"We were originally planning to stay for a week. Um, so we have two days left," Xu Jiaxin said. "But... I don’t know if my brother will be willing to go back with me now."
Xu Jiaxin glanced at Su Zhaozhao, her expression a clear warning for her to watch her back.
Hearing this, Su Zhaozhao sighed.
’Looks like I was getting my hopes up.’
’Getting Xu Jiaming to leave early wasn’t going to be an easy task, it seemed.’
’But he wouldn’t have the nerve to harass me every single day, would he?’
After finishing the dishes, Xu Jiaxin pulled Su Zhaozhao out of the kitchen. They chatted for a little while longer before she said, "It’s getting late, Zhaozhao. I should get going."
Xu Jiaming’s gaze also fell upon Su Zhaozhao. He looked composed, maintaining a gentle and polite demeanor.
But only Su Zhaozhao could feel his cloying stare, coiling around her like a venomous snake.
Su Zhaozhao couldn’t resist glaring at him.
Xu Jiaming snapped out of it and smiled, then said to Xu Yingmin and Li Chunhong, "Thank you, Grandpa and Grandma, for your hospitality. I feel like I have the warmth of a home here in Jiang City too."
’This kid... he’s such a sweet talker!’
His words, naturally, delighted the two elders, and they couldn’t help but laugh. "We’re glad you enjoyed it. Come visit often when you have time."
"I don’t know about that," Xu Jiaming said with a frown. "Although I really love Grandma’s cooking, I’d hate to be too much trouble for you."
’What a classic "green tea" routine!’ Su Zhaozhao stared at Xu Jiaming in astonishment. She found his words utterly shameless.
"Well, it is a little troublesome," Su Zhaozhao said, playing along with his statement.
But before she could finish, Li Chunhong swatted her arm.
Li Chunhong smiled at Xu Jiaming. "How could it be any trouble? Usually, it’s just us two old folks eating by ourselves. It’s too quiet. When you kids eat with us, it livens the place up!"
"Then, can I come again in a couple of days?" Xu Jiaming asked with a smile.
"Of course! I’ll prepare a whole table of my signature dishes next time!" Li Chunhong beamed.
After they left, Li Chunhong turned to Su Zhaozhao. "You don’t like that boy?"
Su Zhaozhao nodded.
"Why not? I think he’s very sensible and polite."
’Just as I thought!’ Xu Jiaming’s act could fool countless people; even someone as worldly as Li Chunhong had been deceived.
Su Zhaozhao said, "Grandma, don’t be fooled by him. He’s not as innocent as he appears on the surface."
"Oh, please. What could he possibly fool me about? It’s not like I have anything for him to take."
Xu Yingmin chimed in from the side, "I think that kid seems quite outstanding. His family owns many factories in Shencheng City, so their financial situation must be good. Zhaozhao, if you didn’t have a boyfriend, he wouldn’t be a bad match for you."
Xu Yingmin even sounded a little regretful. It was clear that Xu Jiaming had already won them both over without them even realizing it.
Su Zhaozhao quickly said, "Good thing I already have a boyfriend, then. I would never like him. Grandpa, Grandma, he’s really not as simple as he seems. You should probably keep your distance from him in the future."
Su Zhaozhao knew that no matter what she said, they wouldn’t believe her.
All she could do was give them a small warning.
’How is Xu Jiaming so damn good at this?’ she couldn’t help but wonder.
In just half a day, he had managed to make her grandpa and grandma like him this much.
Then she couldn’t help but think, ’Why isn’t Xie Huaizheng back yet?’
’If this keeps up, that guy Xu Jiaming is going to be unstoppable.’
The thought left a bitter taste in Su Zhaozhao’s mouth.
She just missed Xie Huaizheng a little.
Perhaps she was coming down with something. Lovesickness.
That night, as she lay in bed, Su Zhaozhao tossed and turned, unable to sleep, just counting the days.
Xie Huaizheng had said it would be half a month before he could come back.
Half a month...
Su Zhaozhao took out a photo of her and Xie Huaizheng and looked at it again and again.
In the photo, both of them were smiling. Her smile, in particular, was radiant and sweet.
She pressed the photo to her chest and peacefully fell asleep.
