Chapter 53- Marriage and Children
Chapter 53: Chapter 53- Marriage and Children
“Xai-xai, when you said we’ll get married, I felt extremely happy. But after thinking about what that meant to you humans, and hearing you say that we might even have children in the future. I suddenly realize that I might not have seriously thought about our relationship. I—”
An Mo choked up for a moment, but he managed to finish his sentence after a moment.
“—I just think I might not be all that great. After all, I’ve only been thinking about myself and how exciting it will be to travel the Human Realm with you, while you’re thinking about serious stuff like getting married and spending a lifetime with me. Compared to you... I feel a bit childish, is all.”
After saying that, An Mo lowered his head dejectedly, not daring to look at Xai Lin.
Having silently listened to An Mo’s explanation, Xai Lin realized she might have frightened this usually childish brat with real world responsibilities.
Xai Lin couldn’t help but let out an amused chuckle. Then, before An Mo could react, she got up and sat on his lap.
An Mo’s eyes widened at Xai Lin’s actions, but before he could say anything, Xai Lin leaned forward and kissed him.
Xai Lin didn’t stop until An Mo wrapped his arms around her waist and began kissing her back.
Pulling back from their kiss, Xai Lin looked at An Mo, whose expression had become somewhat dazed.
Chuckling she asked.
“First let me ask you. How old do you think we have to be to get married?”
An Mo recovered from his daze somewhat, and after a moment of thought he answered.
“In my Legacy Memories, it says humans become an adult at sixteen. So, normally they would marry and have children at that age.”
Upon hearing this, Xai Lin immediately rolled her eyes. No wonder this brat had become so nervous, he thought they were going to get married and have children in two years after she turned sixteen.
“From now on forget those Legacy Memories, they’re nothing good.”
Upon hearing this, An Mo realized he might have misunderstood something, so he hurriedly nodded his head.
After shifting into a comfortable position on An Mo’s lap, Xai Lin lean against his chest and began explaining.
“Sixteen is the age humans in the Mortal Realms considers someone an adult, and when they marry and have children. As for us cultivators, we’re considered an adult at the age of thirteen, one year after we start our cultivations.”
“Eh!? So early?!”
An Mo blurted out, interrupting Xai Lin. He also glanced at her flat chest and couldn’t help but stutter out.
“But you—you’re... Hiss!”
Before An Mo could finish his words, Xai Lin saw where his gaze had landed on her body and her face darken instantly. Reaching out, she pinched and twisted one of An Mo’s nipples.
“Where are you looking? Do you have any thoughts on what you saw?”
Enduring the stinging pain he was feeling, An Mo stuttered out.
“N-None! I wasn’t even looking at anything!”
“Hmph!”
After letting out a huff, Xai Lin finally let go of An Mo. Then ignoring his aggrieved expression, she continued where she left off.
“Even though cultivators become adults at thirteen, some don’t consider marriage and children until they reach the Core Formation Realm. This is because only after reaching the Core Formation Realm can they reform their bodies. Also, you should know that it’s hard for cultivators to have children the higher their realms are, but there is a period after each breakthrough into a major realm where the wife’s body becomes easier to nurture another life. So, young couples usually consummate their marriages right after the wife reaches the Core Formation Realm.”
“Oh, that makes sense.”
An Mo said, finally understanding he had overthought Xai Lin’s words from before. Getting married and having children for them was further away in the future, rather than two years away. So, he could rest easier and not have to worry about not being mature enough to be a proper father and a husband.
However, with that said, An Mo still plan on using Su Jin as a practice substitute!
“Wait, is this how it is for every cultivator? What about those who are not able to reach the Core Formation Realm?”
An Mo looked up at Xai Lin and asked.
Xai Lin paused, then said after a moment.
“Actually, I’m not too sure. What I just explained is how large Sects and Clans handle their younger generation. But I assume it’s likely the same for loose cultivators, and smaller Sects and Clans.”
“So, does that mean there could be cultivators who marry at thirteen?”
Xai Lin eyed An Mo suspiciously and asked.
“What are you thinking about?”
An Mo blushed under Xai Lin’s gaze before he hurriedly said.
“I’m not thinking about anything!”
However, Xai Lin continued to stare at An Mo, until he finally admitted.
“Okay, I was just being curious. You humans have so many unwritten rules. How do you remember everything?”
Xai Lin rolled her eyes at An Mo. It felt like she had rolled her eyes more times in her life, in these past few days she had met this person.
“There’s no need to be curious about this, since in the cultivation world, where strength is paramount, only a fool would think to marry and have children so young, rather that cultivating arduously. And even if they do get married, they wouldn’t consummate their marriage until they’re older and have no hope of reaching the Core Formation Realm.”
An Mo pouted upon hearing that.
“Xai-xai, are you calling me a fool? Can you not be so mean? After all, I didn’t know about the Human Realm before.”
Xai Lin looked at An Mo, who was wearing an aggrieved expression, and she couldn’t help but relent.
“Fine, you’re not a fool. My fiancée, is the smartest Divine Beast in the world.”
“Fiancée?”
An Mo blinked, a bit surprised.
But Xai Lin nodded and said while getting up.
“Yeah, we are going to get married in the future after all.”
An Mo freckles became a bit redder as he blushed at the thought of marrying Xai Lin.
Seeing that An Mo was starting to drift off in a daze, Xai Lin said.
“Weren’t you going to wash my hair? Hurry up, and I’ll help you wash up next so we can soak in the hot spring.”
Hearing this, An Mo snapped out of it and went back to helping Xai Lin wash up; his nervousness about the future from before was long forgotten as he went back to being extremely carefree.
