Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Goblins In Action

The wolves finally charged.

"ROAR!"

The first wolf crossed the dungeon entrance in a single leap.

Its claws dug into the stone floor as it lunged straight toward the goblins guarding the entrance.

The front goblin didn’t retreat. Instead, it planted its feet firmly on the ground and raised its shield.

Bang!

The wolf slammed into the small shield with overwhelming force.

The goblin was pushed backward nearly two meters, its feet carving deep grooves across the stone floor.

Even so, it didn’t fall. Before the wolf could follow up with another attack.

The second frontline goblin thrust its spear forward.

Stab!

The crude spear pierced the wolf’s shoulder.

Although the wound wasn’t deep, it successfully interrupted the beast’s attack.

The injured wolf howled angrily and swung one massive claw.

Slash!

The goblin barely managed to raise its shield in time. And the impact sent the small creature tumbling across the ground before crashing into one of the wooden barricades.

Ragnar frowned slightly.

"So individually..."

However, the battle wasn’t over. The moment the wolf focused on the fallen goblin.

The two goblins waiting behind the front line rushed forward together.

One stabbed toward the wolf’s ribs. The other aimed for its hind legs. The wolf twisted to avoid one attack, but couldn’t avoid both.

Slash!

One spear tore through its rear leg, making the beast stumbled, and its balance was broken.

That single mistake changed everything. The goblin atop the watchtower suddenly let out a loud cry.

"Grah!"

It pointed its spear toward the wounded wolf. As though understanding the signal. Every goblin attacked simultaneously.

The first goblin, who had just regained its footing, charged from the front.

The second drove its spear toward the wolf’s neck, and the remaining two attacked from either side. Four spears struck almost at the same time.

Stab!

Stab!

Slash!

Fresh blood erupted in every direction.

The wolf let out one final, miserable howl before collapsing onto the ground.

It struggled for only a few moments before becoming completely still.

"...Not bad."

Ragnar nodded in approval.

They hadn’t defeated the wolf through individual strength.

They had won through cooperation. Unfortunately, the battle wasn’t over yet.

The second wolf seized the opportunity while the goblins were focused on their fallen prey.

With a furious roar, it sprinted past the corpse of its companion.

Its target wasn’t the frontline goblins. It had chosen the smallest goblin standing near the campfire.

"Watch out!" Ragnar instinctively shouted.

The goblin looked up just as the massive wolf leaped toward it.

At that exact moment, the goblin standing atop the watchtower reacted.

Without hesitation, it picked up a fist-sized stone that had been lying beside the tower.

Using all of its strength, it hurled the rock downward.

The stone struck the wolf directly on the side of its head.

The attack dealt little damage.

But it was enough.

The wolf’s body shifted slightly in midair, causing its bite to miss the goblin’s neck by mere inches.

The goblin rolled across the ground and narrowly escaped.

Before the wolf could recover, the other four goblins had already surrounded it.

Ragnar watched everything unfold without saying another word.

His smile slowly widened.

"They already know how to fight together."

Even though each goblin was individually weaker than the wolves, they compensated through discipline, coordination, and flawless teamwork.

The wounded goblin that had been knocked away earlier even rejoined the battle without hesitation. Despite the scratches covering its body, it tightened its grip on its spear and immediately returned to the formation.

"Grah!"

The goblin standing atop the watchtower shouted another short command.

Almost instantly, the other four goblins reacted.

The wolf lunged toward the weakest-looking goblin, believing it had finally found an escape route.

Unfortunately, that was exactly what the goblins wanted.

The goblin intentionally stepped backward, luring the wolf forward.

The moment the beast committed to its attack, the other four goblins closed in simultaneously.

Stab!

One spear pierced its side.

Slash!

Another sliced across its hind leg. Before the wolf could even cry out in pain, a third spear drove straight into its neck.

The beast let out a choking growl as blood poured from its throat.

It staggered several steps before collapsing heavily onto the stone floor.

Its body twitched twice, then became completely motionless.

Silence returned to the entrance hall.

The five goblins stood quietly around the corpse, their chests rising and falling from exhaustion. Although a few of them had suffered minor injuries, none had been seriously wounded.

Ragnar slowly nodded.

"They’re far better than I expected."

He had assumed goblins would recklessly charge at their enemies until one side died.

Instead, they displayed discipline.

Coordination, and surprisingly effective tactics.

Individually, they were no match for the wolves.

Together, they had defeated both beasts while suffering only minor injuries.

Just then, the familiar notification sound echoed inside Ragnar’s mind once again.

Ding!

A translucent blue screen appeared before his eyes.

[You have obtained 2 Soul Points.

Current Soul Points: 3]

Ragnar smiled as he looked at the notification.

"So each wolf gives me one Soul Point."

He glanced at the corpses lying on the ground before looking back at the floating screen.

"I’ve already collected three."

It wasn’t much, but considering he had started with absolutely nothing, it was enough to make him optimistic.

After instructing the goblins to continue guarding the dungeon, Ragnar turned around and walked deeper into the cave-like entrance, leaving the camp behind.

The familiar corridors welcomed him once more.

His footsteps echoed softly through the empty passages until he eventually arrived back inside the enormous throne chamber.

The obsidian throne still stood proudly at the end of the room, illuminated by the crimson flames burning within the ancient braziers.

Ragnar sat down and let out a long breath.

"...Status."

Immediately, the transparent interface appeared before him.

Instead of opening the Status page, Ragnar’s eyes landed on another option he hadn’t examined before.

Upgrade.

"...Let’s see."

He tapped the icon.

The screen changed instantly.

[Dungeon Upgrade

Current Dungeon Rank: Beginner

Required Soul Points for Upgrade: 50

Current Soul Points: 3 / 50]

Ragnar couldn’t help but laugh bitterly.

"I only have three."

"And I already need a fifty just to upgrade the dungeon?"

He rubbed his forehead helplessly.

"It looks like upgrading won’t happen anytime soon."

Still, he wasn’t particularly disappointed.

This was only the beginning.

He had expected rebuilding his dungeon to take time.
