Chapter 1401: Chapter 2: A Pleasant Life

Where should I start the story?

Red Falcon was teary-eyed, pretending to be pathetically pitiful in a way that made one feel sick.

Lorenzo frowned, looking disdainful. If it weren’t for the opinions of the neighbors, he would really want to throw Red Falcon out.

Imagining that scene, it looks terrible, but Lorenzo believed he could extract a great deal of joy from it. Unfortunately, he still wanted to stay here a bit longer, so he had to maintain his image.

“They say it’s a vacation, but there’s still a bunch of stuff to handle. After I spoke with you that day, I was busy at Black Mountain Hospital for a few days before truly vacationing.”

Red Falcon sighed deeply.

“After that, I went fishing.”

Not surprisingly.

“Hmm, and then?”

It was clear that besides reading novels, Red Falcon’s hobby was fishing. Judging by the empty, dirt-stuck rotten leaves, he had caught nothing.

“The dock was destroyed.”

“Yeah, I was wondering earlier where you’d go fishing,” said Lorenzo.

“Although it’s said to be a vacation with freedom, in case of emergencies, they want to contact me. The Purification Mechanism doesn’t allow us to stray too far from Old Dunling.”

Red Falcon supplemented, contemptuously spitting about the heartless company he worked for.

“So I searched for fishing spots all around, and fortunately, I found one, located in the outskirts of Old Dunling. It wasn’t too affected. While everyone else was busy with the mess, I fished there alone. Honestly, it was quite pleasant.”

As he spoke, he painted a beautiful picture in his mind. For Red Falcon, it was indeed a joyful memory.

“Sounds nice, so what happened?”

Lorenzo nodded, increasingly curious about Red Falcon’s experiences as he listened to his description.

“Actually, not much. The first few days were quite pleasant.

Fishing during the day, returning to the inn to sleep at night, until the last day. I checked out of my room, planned to fish one last time, and then leave.

It was then that I found it!

A big fish! A super big fish!”

When speaking of this, Red Falcon was excited, as if confronted by a stunning beauty.

“I stayed awake, exhausted myself for days, and it finally took the bait. But I couldn’t pull it over; it snapped my fishing rod,” Red Falcon said through gritted teeth, his eyes sparkling, “That was the biggest fish I’ve ever seen!”

“After that, I tried capturing it, got myself filthy, and hid among the water plants. Since I couldn’t catch it by fishing, I decided to use a harpoon to shoot it.”

Lorenzo’s expression became subtly altered.

Hold on, this wasn’t leisurely fishing anymore but primitive hunting. Lorenzo didn’t understand Red Falcon’s thinking as he always did quirky things.

“I guess that fish wanted a match with me too. It intentionally swam back and forth around me but stayed out of my shooting range, until one afternoon, when it let its guard down.

I could see it rippling the water surface, so I harpooned it!”

Red Falcon narrated with accompanying gestures, picking up a log and jabbing it into the fireplace, scattering sparks and ashes as though it was an impromptu stage play.

“It truly was a big fish, I speared it and then tightly held on, dragged into the water. I was swept down the river, feeling like I was dying.

Finally, I got washed ashore… Although I couldn’t catch that big fish, I think it’s not doing well either, maybe even dead.”

Red Falcon spoke with shining eyes, extremely excited.

“And then?”

“Then I returned in a miserable state to the fishing spot, packed my equipment, ready to go back to a nearby inn, but those bastards wouldn’t let me in!”

Red Falcon’s voice rose.

“They said they didn’t accept guests like me! Kicked me out! Even though I had just spent money there!”

Understandably, with a muddy person standing at your store door wanting to stay the night, how is that money worth earning?

“I thought of returning to Old Dunling, but the carriage refused to carry me! Iron Serpent was also completely shut down! I couldn’t even find a place to shower!”

Red Falcon was like a vagabond, going on foot.

“I walked for most of the day, the mud on me had dried up too, and any slight knock would send it crumbling off. People around were staring at me like I was a homeless person, and most annoyingly, a few patrol officers gave me nasty looks as they approached!”

“How did you resolve it?”

“How else but to run? I didn’t want to be imprisoned looking like that, let alone be taken out by acquaintances!”

Red Falcon shouted loudly, his eyes red, looking like he hadn’t slept well in days.

Lorenzo noticed something off and asked.

“So shouldn’t you be going back home? To the employee dormitory or something? Why come here?”

This was what Lorenzo couldn’t understand; he wasn’t against Red Falcon coming over, but Red Falcon’s series of actions baffled him.

“Remember that rainstorm…Although I can’t recall clearly, I asked Arthur, and he said it was some protective measure.”

Red Falcon suddenly brought up something else.

“After the battle ended, I was under observation at Black Mountain Hospital, and once my condition stabilized, I left immediately for vacationing and fishing. So, I never went back to the dormitory.”
