Chapter 1392: Chapter 3: Finale—Vanished Amid the Rain and Mist
“Go ahead, it’s a terrible nightmare, no one should remember.”
Lorenzo still looked ahead, unclear if he was speaking to Eve, but hearing this brought a sense of relief to many, who then calmly walked into the rain.
“So will I forget you again? Like before, thinking you died?”
Red Falcon asked Joey, “This sounds really unlucky, you only lived a few minutes in my world, and now you’re going to die.”
Joey smiled casually as he spoke.
“I’m the Returnee, destined to die but failed to do so…just treat it as a rather interesting dream, my friend.”
“Ah…this job is really awful.”
Red Falcon complained, looking deeply at him like an old friend, then too stepped into the curtain of rain.
He looked up, under the sunlight, the rainwater wasn’t cold, rather it was warm, comfortably like bathing at home.
The rising mist enveloped him, making his figure blurry and indistinct.
Lorenzo slowly stood up, his body had healed significantly, simple movement wasn’t a problem for now.
Most of the people present had also left, only a few seemed reluctant to forget, hesitating.
“Can’t…forget?”
Rod looked at Shao Liangxi, then at Watson, unlike others, he didn’t possess resistance, Rod would forget more, not just this day, but all the experiences in these days.
In his not-too-short life, these few days’ experiences seemed so dazzlingly bright.
Watson didn’t respond, only a cold iron mask replied to him, he wanted to say something more, but was pushed into the rain by Shao Liangxi.
“What are you doing!”
Rod shouted loudly, the warm rain slammed against his body, feeling like a strong acid, he panic-strickenly wanted to escape, to return to the shadows, but saw Shao Liangxi’s dazed, indifferent face.
“She’s right, only this way can you be protected from the erosion and influence.”
Shao Liangxi’s strength was astonishing, every time Rod tried to escape back, she forcefully pushed him back.
“But, but…”
Rod still wanted to say something but was kicked in the stomach by Shao Liangxi, rolling a few times in the rainwater before struggling to get up after a long while.
Like a helpless child, crying and howling.
“You can’t do this, you can’t!”
He shouted, but soon, those cornerstones collapsed one by one, and Rod’s expression changed from panic to dazed, until finally, he was just like others standing in the rain.
Rod’s figure gradually stiffened, as the rain filled with Anti-Meme washed away memories and filth.
Shao Liangxi turned her head, Shao Liangye was standing beside Lorenzo, seemingly one of the insiders, only she hadn’t walked into the rain.
Like Rod, she was reluctant and unwilling, but she was Anonymous, obedient to orders, they were conducting a great enterprise, it’s not like crying and shouting could change anything, too many had disappeared in this storm already, what did Shao Liangxi’s troubles count for?
“Remember the teacher, Shao Liangye.”
Shao Liangxi shouted to Shao Liangye, then took a deep breath, mustered courage, and walked into the rain and mist.
Under the steel mask, a scorching white storm rises, the Anti-Meme further affects them, rooting out erosion and nightmares together, allowing Watson and the Cleaners to hide again in the darkness, waiting for the next time to strike.
“Let’s go.”
Lorenzo said at this moment, with one hand on Shao Liangye’s shoulder, allowing him to support him, leaving this sorrowful place.
Shao Liangye also tried to suppress his emotions, the two walked into the dim burnt hallway, listening to the sound of rain, Shao Liangye finally couldn’t resist, he tried to look back but was stopped by Lorenzo.
He only saw a pair of weary eyes, Lorenzo forced his gaze forward, and then he heard him say.
“Don’t look back, Shao Liangye.”
Lorenzo said stubbornly.
“Keep going forward.”
“Yes, just like that, keep going forward.”
“Don’t look back.”
The drizzling rain poured over the city, the hazy mist spread, swallowing everything and everyone into the bluish gloom, vanishing within it.
