Gun of Ashes
Chapter 1382 - 79: Dust_3
One after another, they dashed forward, the living stepping over the bodies of the dead, continuing their advance.
The power tearing at the evil anomaly erupted, destroying monsters, destroying the Nail Sword, and also destroying the angels wielding the swords, yet they continued to flap their wings relentlessly.
Until it pierced through all defenses, exposing a broken, twisted yet familiar face, entangled in countless flesh and blood, with crimson hundred eyes blooming all around.
Adren fell into this core, thrusting the Nail Sword, but it didn’t pierce through his brow.
The Nail Sword stalled in mid-air, unable to advance any further.
Adren looked slightly surprised, then helplessly smiled.
The sin that lasted endless years, past entanglements of grievances, or chaotic ideas and dreams.
All of it, everything...
The Bone Spear pierced his body, pushing him away, finally pinned to the wall like the other angels.
"It’s so long..."
Adren sighed deeply, and his furrowed brows relaxed.
Everything quieted down.
Adren stopped looking at the hideous monster, raised his head, and exquisite feathers dropped down.
He reached out to catch them, but soon, the feathers shattered, turning into gray-white dust in his hand.
He looked over, only to see angels falling one by one, crashing heavily into the darkness, silent, waiting for a few seconds, and no thunder erupted anymore.
They seemed to have died, truly died, completely freed from the cycle of resurrection.
Ultimately, everything succumbed to dead silence.
"Indeed... it’s still not possible."
Adren said somewhat sadly, as the remains beneath him began to collapse, turning into the same gray-white, yet among the gray-white, some flesh continued to resist stubbornly.
They refused death, refused the arrival of the end.
But the outcome was already decided.
The power kept eroding, destroying Roger while also destroying Adren himself, at this brink of shattering moment, Adren finally couldn’t sustain any longer.
But indeed, he spent such a long time, he ought to rest.
The Death Row plunged into ancient silence, and thereafter the heartbeat sounded like war drums, huge wings broke through the monster’s body, then a hideous, seemingly humanoid figure stepped out.
"Roger" glanced at Adren nailed to the wall, his expression devoid of any emotion, like a puppet being manipulated.
The wings spread, soaring into high flight.
He crashed through the Death Row’s roof that was buried by ruins, pierced through the Furnace Pillar, finally broke through the fiery Mechanical Institute.
Leaving behind dying Adren and the field of corpses.
After an unknown time, the darkness echoed with clear footsteps, someone approached, gazing at Adren.
"I’m really sorry... I lost."
Adren’s body collapsed in segments, turning into gray-white solid, then dispersed with the wind into endless dust.
The newcomer paid no heed, approached a bit, then whispered.
"What’s there to be sorry for, and... who do you think you are? A savior?"
Lorenzo mocked.
"Aren’t I?"
Adren questioned.
Lorenzo merely smiled and shook his head, without offering any answer, then took the last Nail Sword from his hand, feeling a slight burning sensation in his palm.
"Probably, who knows," Lorenzo said uncertainly, "I have to hurry to fix your mistakes now, anything you want to say?"
Adren thought for a moment, shook his head, gazing at the corpses of the angels.
"My familiar friends all died here, nothing much left to say."
"Then goodbye, Adren Levien."
Lorenzo’s voice was solemn, like a priest praying, reading the name of the deceased.
Then, without looking back, he left.
Adren looked slightly dazed at the departing back, this guy was straightforward, as if eager to kill someone, finally he couldn’t help but laugh, shouting towards the retreating figure.
"I’ve staked everything, don’t let me lose completely!"
From the darkness, a faint response from Lorenzo came, but Adren didn’t hear clearly, his gaze lowered, looking at the dead bodies scattered around, his expression sorrowful.
Soon, the sorrowful expression froze, it turned gray-white, then shattered, becoming ethereal dust, disappearing into the soil.
