Gun of Ashes

Chapter 1352 66: Monsters

This was an unexpected encounter, both sides fueled by anger, wishing to tear the other to shreds. Yet their true selves were elsewhere; here it was merely shells being controlled.

[Evade!]

Lorenzo's voice echoed in their minds.

This was his war with Roger, both of them deeply corrupted like a devastating hurricane, where even proximity meant destruction for mortals, not to mention the aftermath of the fight.

One wave after another, making it hard to breathe.

Eve instinctively fled to cover, Oscar stumbled, leaning on his longsword, running with difficulty; they couldn't participate in this level of combat. Even Shao Liangxi, protected by Anti-Meme, felt intense discomfort at this moment.

She pulled Rod tightly; this unfortunate soul, lacking combat experience, was dazed the moment the corruption erupted, like a puppet being dragged along by Shao Liangxi.

"Oh, oh, oh! The stars have made their appearance!"

Oscar didn't forget to shout even at a time like this.

The Flame Holder and Peacekeeper collided, both sets of Armor of Original Sin like gigantic monsters, fighting in the streets, making the few seem like mere background actors from a story, akin to fleeing pedestrians.

"Run quickly! The extras need to exit the stage!"

Oscar called out loudly; despite his limp, his movements were astonishingly agile.

He tossed his longsword into a broken window, then clumsily climbed in, diving through. Seconds later, the street was baptized by burning flames; a moment later, Oscar would have been consumed by fire.

Brilliant white flames likewise ignited on the Peacekeeper; it became Roger's shell, the embodiment of his will, with scarlet flesh growing wildly under the assistance of corruption, its thrashing limbs reached out in all directions, grasping shattered armors and blades, embedding them onto the Peacekeeper's body, making it fearsome.

[Why, Roger Cruz?]

Lorenzo asked in bafflement, eyeing the heavily damaged city, countless corpses.

Only a raspy laugh replied to Lorenzo; he ridiculed Lorenzo.

The silent calm lasted for seconds, then was shattered by rage.

The fuel tank behind the Flame Holder burned, flames ignited within the thrusters, expanding the brilliance, bringing immense horsepower, firmly controlling the Peacekeeper.

"It's truly beautiful..."

Eve hid in the shadows, witnessing the battle between monsters.

She saw the Flame Holder seize the Peacekeeper and the raging flames behind its wings. With the support of Authority, it seemed all the flames were turning pure white, even enveloping the Flame Holder itself, including the flames within its thrusters.

Burning, boiling, releasing.

The surging flames unfolded like wings behind the Iron Feather.

The slender Iron Feather was removed, gripping it like a sharp spike, piercing into the fissures of the Peacekeeper's armor.

[This is not yet our stage, Roger.]

Brilliant radiance emitted beneath the Face Armor, as if beneath the dense armor of the Flame Holder, burning daylight was enveloped.

The light wings seemed to flap, huge power propelling the Flame Holder. It firmly pinned the Armor of Original Sin before it, and the next moment, both rushed forward, dragging and crushing across the ground, then swiftly soaring, smashing through buildings along the way, finally ascending into the sky.

"Evade! Evade!"

Dort shouted in the cockpit, and Gerri sat frozen beside him, tightly gripping the control lever, eyes fixed ahead, reflected in them were raging flames.

Just like a meteor, the scorching stream of fire headed straight for the insane blood-flesh Peacekeeper, narrowly passing the War Airship. Amid the thrill, the War Airship began to sway due to the dramatic maneuver, nearly crashing.

"What is that thing? Armor of Original Sin!"

Dort leaned against the observation window, tracking the fire stream's path, completely unaware that a slight deviation would have them hit, taking the entire War Airship down.

"Who knows? Anyway, it's not something that common sense can judge."

Gerri swallowed hard. Unlike the still interested Dort, he genuinely felt the threat of death, like having faced Death God itself.

He could sense the presence of Death, like the torrential rain, moist and chilly.

"But judging by the trajectory... I guess it's something from our cabin."

Gerri looked at Dort, for that fire stream was so familiar, it burst through the cabin's confinement only minutes earlier, descending under the gloomy sky.

Dort's eyes were grave, hesitating for several seconds.

"Turn around! Continue observing!"

Gerri had already acted before Dort issued his orders, making the War Airship barely stop swaying, then changing direction, heading toward the rising fire stream.

This surprised Dort somewhat; he thought Gerri would dissuade him, but instead, this guy moved faster than he imagined.

"Gerri, you..."

Dort watched his colleague, noticing the unusual expression on Gerri's face.

After the threat of death, there was no fear or dread on Gerri's face, but rather an indescribable excitement.

"People always prefer to 'offend' something, right, Dort."

Under Gerri's calm voice lay unstoppable trembling… trembling from excitement.
