Chapter 255: Take care of yourself

  • Next Chapter

Eva was surprised that Kaho had earned so much in such a short amount of time, and she had to admit that her best friend had done a great job.

But still...

"You need to take care of yourself!" Eva snapped. "Don’t try to distract me from that fact. First of all, you should at the very least eat every day."

"I’ll be fine. It was just one or two days..." Kaho muttered.

"Three days have passed since I left," Eva corrected her sharply.

Kaho opened her mouth to defend herself, but no words came out. She didn’t really have anything to say in her defense. She had simply forgotten about eating, or about doing anything else aside from work.

Her mind just couldn’t stop thinking about the problems before her. Whenever she worked, she entered such a deep state of flow that everything else seemed unimportant.

"Besides, you stink," the queen complained, glancing around at the mess that had accumulated throughout the room. "And there’s no way working in a place like this can be efficient."

Kaho bit her lower lip. She wanted to say that the place was chaotic, but that she understood her own mess.

Unfortunately, that would have been a lie.

The girl frequently found herself searching for documents she couldn’t remember where she had left.

"Maybe I could have kept the place better organized..." She looked down. "But I was alone, so my smell doesn’t really matter. Shin won’t be back for a long time, anyway."

Eva rolled her eyes.

"You need to keep yourself put together even when he isn’t around." She placed her hands on her hips and leaned toward the girl.

"Okay, I’m sorry..." Kaho looked down, her shoulders curling inward as her eyes became almost identical to those of a guilty puppy.

"I’m being serious. I’m worried about you getting sick or something," the queen said with a sigh.

Eva would usually be much colder and more aggressive when lecturing someone, but Kaho somehow disarmed her. She found it surprisingly difficult to get genuinely angry at her best friend.

"Anyway, I’m going to cook something for you to eat, so go take a shower. Then we’ll organize this place. After that, you can tell me what you’ve been working on and what our next targets will be. I also need to tell you what I’ve been up to."

"Okay," Kaho agreed with a nod.

Eva gave her one last stern look before turning toward the door. "And don’t just stand there. Go."

Kaho smiled sheepishly and finally headed toward the bathroom. The small inn she was using as her base didn’t have a shower in the room, so she had to gather her things and head down to the first floor.

After finding the bathing room, Kaho slipped inside and closed the door behind her. The small space immediately felt rather cramped, and her much larger-than-average chest certainly didn’t help with the claustrophobic feeling.

As soon as she entered, the girl placed her shampoo and other bathing supplies on the small plastic shelf attached to the left wall. However, when she turned to hang her towel on the hook on the opposite wall, her big tits accidentally knocked everything off the shelf, sending the bottles tumbling to the floor.

"Shit..." she let out a sigh. The baths of that place were not designed for someone her size, and it was another reason she had been putting off taking a proper shower.

Still, once the warm water began running over her body, she quickly realized how much she had needed it.

The heat relaxed her tired muscles, while the feeling of washing away the sweat and grime that had accumulated over the past few days was surprisingly refreshing.

Kaho closed her eyes and let out a quiet sigh.

Maybe Eva had been right... Well, she was always right. Her best friend always seemed to know what was best for her.

The girl giggled, thinking about how different her life would have been if, on that fateful day, Eva hadn’t taken pity on her and helped her while she was being bullied.

For a long time, she simply stood beneath the shower, letting the hot water wash over her hair and shoulders. For the first time in what felt like an eternity, she allowed herself to stop thinking and simply let her body relax.

Indeed, she needed this. Her body was exhausted, and she hadn’t even realized how badly she needed a shower until she stepped beneath the warm water.

On one hand, she wanted to repay Eva and Shin for everything they had done for her, so she felt that she needed to work as hard as possible. On the other hand, she was still, unfortunately, only human.

Kaho smiled faintly, feeling grateful that she had someone around to scold her whenever she was being unreasonable. Someone who genuinely cared about her and acted out of concern.

With her family, she had always felt that everything they said was empty, as if they were speaking out of some strange spite.

After washing herself properly, Kaho stepped out, dried herself, and changed into clean clothes. When she returned to the main room, she was surprised to find Eva already there.

The queen had somehow managed to make the room look slightly less disastrous in the short time Kaho had been gone.

And she was carrying a tray.

"I made you something."

Kaho’s eyes widened. Eva had been getting better and better at cooking with each passing day, reaching what Kaho could only describe as a somewhat divine level.

The queen was actually quite anxious to show off her cooking skills to Shin when he returned.

The dinner itself wasn’t anything extravagant, but it smelled wonderful. It was a warm, hearty meal with enough food to actually fill Kaho’s stomach.

"Thank you," Kaho said with a small smile.

The two of them finished the meal together, and Kaho felt considerably more energetic afterward.

"I’ll take care of the dishes," Eva said, picking up the empty plates.

Before Kaho could protest, the queen carried everything down to the shared kitchen and washed the dishes herself, leaving them there afterward to dry.

When she returned to the room, she immediately rolled up her sleeves.

"Now, we have to clean all of this before we start planning how we’re going to mess up the entire tower," she said with a silly tone.

Kaho giggled, but as she looked around at the mountain of papers and documents surrounding them, her smile slowly vanished. It would be a lot of work.
