GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2280 2280: Peace And Quiet.

The more Black Axe spoke, the more excited he became. After speaking, he realized that it was a good plan. It was especially great because he had nothing to lose by trying it out.

He looked down and said to White Cape, “Thank you very much. What can I do to make it up to you?”

White Cape was clearly unhappy about being forced to care and threatened with his cape. He grumbled to himself for a while as he snuggled with his thick cape.

After being asked, he brought his head out of the covers of his cape and yelled in Black Axe’s face, “Stop making noise and let me sleep. That’s what I want.”

Then he covered his head again and closed his eyes to sleep.

Black Axe didn’t mind his behavior. He was in too good a mood to care. Besides, this is how White Cape behaves. He is already used to it.

Instead of bothering with White Cape’s rudeness, he decided to execute the plan that the two of them just came up with. He whistled to himself happily as he left the balcony to execute the plan.

His absence made the balcony become quiet again. A few seconds after he left, the balcony became noisy because of the snoring sound.

This is usually the state of the balcony. There is only the sound of the wind blowing and a man snoring.

This won’t change until White Cape needs to eat or go to the toilet. This usually happens once every week.

The other times there is a change on the balcony are when Black Axe comes to overlook the territory and think. The snoring sound helps him think better. And if he fails to think of a solution, White Cape will save him in order to restore peace and quiet to the balcony.

White Cape fell asleep while Black Axe walked away in a good mood as he considered which of the eight leaders of the Golden Hammer gang he would use for his interests. Meanwhile, other people who had one or two things to do with Legion weren’t lucky enough to be in a good mood or fall asleep peacefully. The most agitated person linked to Legion is undoubtedly the commander sent to take charge of the investigation in Ivory Town. Commander Isaac is agitated and in a very bad mood because he has been receiving nothing but bad news for a while now.

There is a debriefing session that he has with his captains every day. The captains updated him about the progress they are making in their different missions, and he gave them advice or general operational orders.

These captains are epic beings. They are rank 4 of various pathways, and there are six of them. They stand in a semicircle around the large table in the command tent.

He stands at the head of the table and listens to what they have to say. Usually, he listens in a calm manner and speaks in a mellow tone. But he is too agitated to do those things now.

He had some very bad news earlier today. It put him in such a bad mood that he is now pacing about and scoffing in irritation anytime he sees something he doesn’t like or hears something unpleasant.

The worst part is that bad news keeps coming. Especially the one he is listening to right now.

The captain said, “We haven’t found the fate weaver, commander. She is on the run and has always been able to evade capture. Three rank 3 and seven rank 2 subordinates were lost in the pursuit.”

“More people were injured in the pursuit. I also heard that one epic judge was likely killed and two more were injured.”

Each sentence that the captain said was bad news. So he was like a gun with bad news for bullets. Every second, he shot one bullet and released one piece of bad news after the other to bombard Commander Isaac.

Commander Isaac was glaring at him, but no one noticed this because there was a helmet around Isaac’s head that blocked the view of his face and eyes.

Isaac wasn’t angry with the captain because he thought that the captain was at fault for the failure to capture the father weaver, who cursed many godclads and converted them into mutants, which were used to kill Captain Sheckel and her subordinates.

He was just angry with the captain because he was the one telling him the bad news while he was already in a bad mood.

It is said that one shouldn’t blame the messenger for the contents of the message. But Commander Isaac has reached a point that even the messenger won’t go scot-free for bringing a bad message.

Despite his anger, Commander Isaac didn’t make a move against the innocent captain. He managed to keep control of his emotions, so he only glared occasionally during the moments he paused his pacing.

After the captain finished his report, he spoke.

He said, “This is already the third failure, and each one was more catastrophic than the last. The first time they failed, no captain was injured. The second time they failed, one captain was injured. Now a captain was killed, and two more were injured.”

He sneered and said, “Fortunately, the casualties on the level of the rank 3 and rank 2 subordinates have been constant. It has always been a 100% casualty rate. Every rank 3 and rank 2 that went in pursuit of her died. Not one of them survived. So we should be thankful that nothing has changed about that.”

Everyone listening became ashamed and angry. They lowered their heads in shame and clenched their fists in anger.

Commander Isaac saw this and decided to stop adding salt to their injuries. He said, “We will put an end to her pursuit for now.”

One of the captains spoke up hurriedly, “Commander, we can’t do that. She has killed too many of us for us to let her go. She must be punished and justice has to be done at all costs.”
