Great, It's the Pervy Neighbor. We're Doomed
Chapter 925: Let Me Give You a Bone-Chilling Surprise
That meal could hardly be called a pleasant parting.
The group finished eating and returned to their hotel.
They discovered that Qin Chuan hadn't checked out and left after all.
Everyone spent the rest of that day there.
Early the next morning, Gao Yang got behind the wheel and prepared to drive everyone back to Nancheng City.
"Aren't you going to call Qin Chuan?"
After getting in the car, Wang Qingzhao spoke with a teasing smile.
Gao Yang, sitting in the driver's seat, let out a cold snort: "Hah, call him? Call him my ass! He can take the high-speed rail back on his own!"
"Wanting a free ride? Dream on!"
With that, Gao Yang floored the accelerator and disappeared from the entrance of the hotel.
Meanwhile, in one of the hotel rooms, Qin Chuan was still fast asleep.
Because last night, he'd stayed up all night on his phone, gambling online. So he needed to catch up on sleep during the day.
He didn't wake up until past two in the afternoon.
After waking up, he checked his phone... hmm... no messages from Zhang Xue or Zhao Yiwan.
"No way? They haven't even tried to persuade me to stay?"
Qin Chuan shuffled into his slippers and decided to head straight to Zhao Yiwan's hotel room. To his surprise, her door was wide open.
He walked in excitedly, only to find that it wasn't Zhao Yiwan inside—it was a hotel cleaning auntie tidying up the room.
"Hey, where's the person staying here?"
Qin Chuan asked, confused.
The cleaning auntie was sweeping the floor with a broom: "Young man, the guest must have checked out and left! Otherwise, why would I be in here cleaning?"
Qin Chuan felt like he'd been struck by lightning.
After standing there stunned for a moment, he immediately ran to Zhang Xue's hotel room and knocked on the door several times. The door didn't open—she'd probably left too. So he ran all the way down to the front desk on the first floor.
He asked the front desk.
The front desk knew that Qin Chuan was acquainted with Zhang Xue and the others, so they told him that the group had checked out and left early that morning.
They also looked at Qin Chuan with a rather strange expression.
As if to say: "Aren't you all friends? How come you didn't even know they'd checked out?"
Qin Chuan shot a glance at the front desk and stormed back to his own hotel room in a rage.
He started punching and kicking the pillow.
"Kao! Kao! Kao!"
"They really didn't give me a single chance!!!"
"Fine, when I get back, I'll go apologize in person. That should work, right?"
Let's rewind to that morning.
The group was on their way back to Nancheng City.
"Qingzhao, are you still working at our old company?"
In the car, Zhang Xue turned her head and asked.
Wang Qingzhao: "Mm, yeah, why?"
Zhang Xue smiled: "You see, our team was originally four people. Now that Qin Chuan is gone, we're short one. Want to come join us?"
Wang Qingzhao laughed: "How much are you paying me?"
Zhang Xue: "Definitely fifteen thousand."
"I know you're not short on money, but it's definitely more than what you make at the old company! So? Think about it!"
Wang Qingzhao said: "No need to think. I accept. When I get back, I'll quit that job."
Zhang Xue was thrilled, absolutely beaming with joy: "Really? That's wonderful!!!"
The atmosphere inside the car came alive with laughter and cheerful conversation.
But no one noticed that Gao Yang, who was driving, had a face that was usually fair and clean, but was now as black as coal.
He stared straight ahead and said in an icy voice: "Zhang Xue, did you ask for my permission before casually hiring employees like this?"
He was deeply displeased with Zhang Xue's sudden hiring decision, especially after what had happened at the restaurant—Qin Chuan had said that their team of four had Zhang Xue as the boss, not him.
And now, Zhang Xue was immediately hiring someone new.
He felt like Qin Chuan had called it perfectly, and this was slapping him right in the face.
Zhang Xue turned her head and said: "Oh, I want to hire Qingzhao. Do you agree?"
Gao Yang seethed inwardly.
That attitude, that tone of asking—so dismissive. Was that really asking for his opinion?
"What if I don't agree?"
Gao Yang said.
Zhang Xue: "Why don't you agree?"
Gao Yang said: "I want to hire another guy instead, and not at such a high salary. We need to save costs."
Zhang Xue: "Oh, is that so? Then go ahead and hire a guy yourself! I'm hiring Qingzhao, and the money comes out of my pocket."
Gao Yang almost lost it.
He could only channel his anger into the accelerator, stomping on it wildly.
"Gao Yang, are you insane?!"
Zhang Xue shrieked.
But Gao Yang completely ignored her.
At that moment, Jiang Ran, sitting in the second row, suddenly stood up slightly and poured the bottle of mineral water in his hand over Gao Yang's head.
Gao Yang, drenched by the cold water, finally slammed on the brakes and stopped.
Everyone in the car involuntarily lurched forward from the sudden stop.
If it hadn't been for the fact that there weren't many cars on that stretch of road, Gao Yang's sudden braking could easily have caused a massive pile-up.
"What the hell are you doing?!"
Gao Yang roared at Jiang Ran behind him.
"I should be asking you that! Suddenly flooring it like that—you want to die?! Fine, but we don't want to!!!"
Jiang Ran's voice was equally furious, and his shout was no quieter than Gao Yang's.
And that shout actually stunned Gao Yang into silence.
That's right—Jiang Ran still had millions of yuan sitting unspent in his bank account.
If that Kao Gao Yang actually caused a car accident because of some petty argument and took everyone's lives with him...
Then Jiang Ran swore he'd haunt Gao Yang's ass even as a ghost!
Gao Yang, stunned by the shout, glared at Jiang Ran through gritted teeth.
But surprisingly, he didn't say anything. He turned back around, started the car, and continued driving—this time, extremely smoothly.
No more speeding. It seemed like that bottle of water had snapped him out of it.
But in truth, Gao Yang was just suppressing his anger for the moment.
The car pulled into a service area.
The car had just stopped, and no one had gotten out yet.
Gao Yang, in the driver's seat, stared straight ahead and said in a frigid tone:
"Zhang Xue, from now on, when we shoot videos, don't invite this guy named Jiang Ran anymore."
What was most infuriating about Gao Yang's words was that they sounded directed at Zhang Xue, but he said them in front of everyone—especially Jiang Ran.
As the saying goes, you don't slap a person in the face. If he had something to say, he should have said it to Zhang Xue in private. Instead, he brought it up in front of everyone, clearly trying to embarrass Jiang Ran.
Jiang Ran was caught off guard for a moment, then opened his mouth to speak.
But Zhang Xue beat him to it:
"Gao Yang, aren't you going a bit too far today? First you pick a fight with Qin Chuan, and now you're picking a fight with Jiang Ran. What's next—are you going to fight with me too, and then with Yiwan?"
Gao Yang's tone was ice-cold: "I don't want to fight. I'm just stating what's on my mind."
Zhang Xue nodded repeatedly: "Fine, fine, fine. Since you've said what's on your mind, let me say what's on mine—three words: absolutely not."
An icy glare bore into Zhang Xue's fair, beautiful face: "Are you sure?"
Zhang Xue nodded.
A smirk tugged at the corner of Gao Yang's mouth: "Fine. Then next time, you can shoot the videos yourself!"
"It's either me or him. Him or me."
Zhang Xue's face turned sour. Why was Gao Yang pulling this stunt again?
Was he really forcing her to choose between the two?
He did this before, and now he was doing it again?
