Chapter 483: Chapter 338: So-Called High and Mighty, Nothing but a Two-Cent Steel Ball
The chaos downstairs had subsided, and Wu Liangchen could feel the Sun family’s guards converging on the top floor.
This was clearly the handiwork of Qin Zhen, the Martial Artist of the Divine Sight Realm.
They had given up the search to fortify the top floor, waiting for him to come to them.
The strategy, though clumsy, was incredibly effective.
It was a flexible strategy, allowing for both offense and defense. He was openly issuing a challenge, and now it was up to Wu Liangchen whether to accept.
But Wu Liangchen was completely unafraid.
Qin Zhen was indeed powerful. He was a long-famous master of the Divine Sight Realm, and his calm, cautious nature made him an exceptionally difficult opponent.
But so what?
Having come this far, Wu Liangchen was determined to test his own limits.
’Besides, it’s not like I have no chance of winning...’
Wu Liangchen stood up and stretched his limbs. A series of sharp pops, like firecrackers, echoed from within his body.
With a flicker of movement, he vanished into the shadows once more.
「In the top-floor office.」
Sun Fusheng’s face was ashen. He was slumped on the leather sofa, his eyes dull.
It would be a lie to say he didn’t have any regrets.
’If I’d known things would get this out of hand, I’d never have gotten entangled with that Wu Liangchen in the first place.’
’And now look. Even someone like Yin Jiu is dead. My only hope is the man before me now.’
With that thought, Sun Fusheng looked up at Qin Zhen, who was meditating cross-legged not far away.
He sat on a prayer mat, his eyes shut, his breathing incredibly slow.
At times, a single inhalation would last for an eternity before he slowly released it.
Yet this slow rhythm exuded an intense, oppressive aura.
Sun Fusheng even felt as if the very air in the office was rising and falling like the tide with Qin Zhen’s every breath.
But this also gave Sun Fusheng a sense of security.
After all, the stronger Qin Zhen was, the greater their chances of victory, and the safer he would be.
Suddenly, Qin Zhen’s eyes snapped open, a sharp glint flashing within them for an instant.
"He’s here!"
Sun Fusheng jumped in fright. "What’s here?"
He scrambled to check the large monitor, but all the facilities appeared normal. Not a single alarm had been triggered. He couldn’t help but feel confused.
Qin Zhen offered no explanation, his sharp gaze fixed on the office’s heavy alloy door.
The atmosphere suddenly grew heavy with tension.
"Patriarch Sun, please go hide in the secret room for a while," Qin Zhen said slowly.
Sun Fusheng, his mind already a tangled mess of fear, certainly wasn’t going to refuse.
When the building was first constructed, a space had been specifically set aside in the office for a secret room.
Subsequent modifications had made it exceptionally secure.
Sun Fusheng scrambled into the panic room, peering out through the one-way mirror.
Just then, a cacophony of shouts erupted from outside the office, interspersed with the sharp clang of clashing weapons and the dull thuds of bodies hitting the floor.
A moment later, the sounds ceased abruptly. Everything went quiet.
But this was a suffocating silence, so much so that Sun Fusheng, even inside the panic room, couldn’t stop himself from trembling.
BOOM!
With a deafening crash, the half-meter-thick alloy door was kicked open. Twisted metal burst inward as the door collapsed to the floor with a tremendous THUD.
And through the swirling dust and debris, a figure strode in with defiant pride.
It was Wu Liangchen.
Though covered in dust and stained with blood, he stood as straight as a sword, his gaze as sharp as a blade.
Even through the thick, one-way bulletproof glass, Sun Fusheng felt as if his own eyes were being stung by that gaze.
Qin Zhen, however, remained completely unperturbed. He rose slowly from his prayer mat.
As he moved, a series of sharp pops, like a bowstring being drawn to its limit, sounded from within his body.
Once he was standing still, a vast, powerful aura erupted from him, enveloping the entire office.
"I didn’t expect you to actually dare to come," Qin Zhen’s voice was low, yet it held a hint of admiration.
Wu Liangchen said nothing. He simply focused on circulating his Qi and Blood, his own aura beginning to rise steadily.
’Qin Zhen hasn’t made a physical move, but the contest began the moment I walked in.’
’If I can’t break through this oppressive aura bearing down on me, I’ll have already lost half the battle before a single blow is thrown.’
And so, an aura as cold as a blade yet as swift as fire surged from him, shattering the killing pressure Qin Zhen had meticulously crafted. It met Qin Zhen’s own aura head-on, standing as its equal, showing no signs of weakness.
Qin Zhen’s eyebrows twitched slightly. He couldn’t help but sigh. "I had already raised my estimation of you as high as I could, but your strength still exceeds my imagination."
Wu Liangchen’s gaze was calm. "You, on the other hand, have disappointed me."
"Oh? And why is that?" Qin Zhen asked with a smile.
"I had assumed that a Martial Artist of the Divine Sight Realm would be physically perfect, without flaw. After all, reaching that realm means you’ve completely tapped into the human body’s potential. You’ve walked the path of physical enhancement to its absolute end. But I never expected..."
Wu Liangchen stared at Qin Zhen and shook his head gently. "Your body has a flaw. If I’m not mistaken, you must have used some kind of technology, like a Martial Vein, to enhance yourself in the past."
At these words, Qin Zhen’s expression changed drastically.
Because what Wu Liangchen had just said touched upon his deepest, most painful secret.
Early in his martial arts journey, he had been impatient for success. Blinded by the promise of immediate gains, he had listened to another’s advice and had a Natural Martial Vein transplanted into his body.
The transplant had certainly given him a significant boost in the beginning, but the long-term consequences were fatal.
It introduced an imperfection into his martial path.
