Chapter 480: Chapter 336: Fierce Battle, Counter-kill
Up ahead, Wu Liangchen suddenly veered left and vanished.
Yin Jiu froze. It was only when he rushed forward that he saw it—a maintenance tunnel.
He hesitated at the entrance for a moment, but anger and the thought of the immense reward just within his grasp soon took over.
Before charging in, however, he left a mark at the entrance so those following behind could find their way.
The maintenance tunnel was narrow and thick with dust. Before long, Yin Jiu was covered in grime.
But after rounding a bend, he saw Wu Liangchen standing just a short distance away, watching him with a cold gaze.
A shiver went down Yin Jiu’s spine, but he showed no trace of fear on his face.
"Kid, finally realize you can’t escape? Giving up without a fight?" Yin Jiu taunted, all while secretly gathering his power for a sneak attack.
"Escape? Why would I escape?" Wu Liangchen asked calmly, a cold, mocking smile playing on his lips.
"Huh?" Yin Jiu grunted, taken aback.
But then Wu Liangchen waved his hand. A scorching, deathly silent, and utterly indescribable power suddenly enveloped Yin Jiu.
This suppression, which seemed to originate from the very depths of his soul, made Yin Jiu tremble, wiping away his earlier smugness in an instant.
"This... This is the Power of Annihilation! How is that possible? Luo Qifeng is long dead! How could you possess such a power?" Yin Jiu’s voice grew shrill and piercing with absolute terror.
It was a feeling, an aura, that he would never forget for the rest of his life.
The reason he had lain low for so long was not that he was content to be a mere Loose Cultivator. It was because of a certain existence in Qing Province whom he feared immensely.
And that was Luo Qifeng.
Both were masters who had been famous for years and they shared a deep-seated enmity, but Yin Jiu had never dared to seek revenge.
Because Luo Qifeng had mastered a certain power.
A power that was his perfect counter.
That was why he had remained in hiding for so long. Only when Luo Qifeng hadn’t been seen for ages and rumors of his death began to spread did Yin Jiu finally dare to resurface.
He never expected to experience that nightmarish feeling again here today.
"And why is that impossible?" Wu Liangchen said calmly as he started walking toward Yin Jiu.
And Yin Jiu, who was usually so arrogant and domineering, now retreated helplessly like a maiden cornered by a ruffian.
"Just who are you?!" Yin Jiu roared, trying to bolster his own courage. But the panic and terror in his eyes gave him away.
"Did Luo Qifeng possess you? No, that can’t be right. I would have recognized him on sight. And besides, your methods are nothing like his!" Yin Jiu muttered to himself.
He was truly afraid.
The fear of having lived under Luo Qifeng’s shadow for the better part of his life seized his heart, driving him to the brink of madness.
He knew this was no longer about the Sun family. This was now a matter of his own life and death.
"AGGGHH! I DON’T CARE WHO YOU ARE, JUST DIE!"
Yin Jiu roared hysterically, his face twisting into an ugly mask.
"With ten years of my life as the offering—Sea of Blood, Death Curse!"
As his words fell, Yin Jiu violently spat out a mouthful of black blood. His body withered at a visible rate, his skin cracking and peeling away like old tree bark.
This was his ultimate, life-saving trump card: unleashing the most vicious death curse at the cost of his own lifespan!
And the effects were astounding.
Wu Liangchen was instantly enveloped by a terrifying premonition of death.
It felt as if countless malevolent eyes were fixed upon his soul, forcibly stripping his life force away!
But just then, the Ten Thousand Laws Tripod in his sea of consciousness began to float. The Life Fire stored within his body flared to life, burning fiercely and instantly neutralizing the assault.
Then, before Yin Jiu’s shocked and terrified eyes, Wu Liangchen raised his hand and struck.
The punch carried none of the earth-shattering power one might expect. There was only a faint glimmer of light, but it flashed like lightning through the darkness, striking Yin Jiu squarely in the chest.
BOOM!
Yin Jiu’s entire body convulsed. Then, like a sand sculpture weathered by the wind, his body rapidly crumbled and dissipated, until all that was left was a pile of ash that drifted to the ground along with his black robes.
