Chapter 2177: Part 2: Following Richard’s Demise

Forbidden Island

I’m watching the outside scene from the control room. I didn’t expect this many people to appear. Not only that, I could hear their chatter and other conversations happening around them.

So, I was able to hear shocking news from them. I didn’t expect them to be the actual core members. There are Supreme Wizards among them. I had thought they didn’t have Supreme Wizards in their ranks.

Now that I have seen the core members, I think they are going to be the next generation of wizards. The Covenant might be training them. My eyes flashed with coldness.

If possible, I would have wanted to eliminate them, but their elder-level powerhouses were on the island. I have already seen one of them. My ultimate goal was to rescue Forbidden Erwin from this place.

Then I can think of other matters. I’m sure they are investigating the site. It would be a matter of time before I saw some Elder-Level Powerhouse here.

Outside

As time passed, the core members failed to find any details, except that their core member had died miserably for reasons unknown. They had been here for some time.

They didn’t find any evidence of a struggle or a magical fight happening here. There are wizards whose magic can find clues, yet even they were facing a headache right now.

Because the paths were clear, no signs of damage or other clues were left behind.

It didn’t take long for the five seniors from the front office to arrive.

They had come to the spot a bit later than the core members. It was because they were reporting back to someone.

Now that they were here, they were looking at the same site with grim expressions. They had assumed that Head Richard had fallen into some space crack or ruin, but they never expected him to die here.

The core members were all looking toward the senior members with doubtful gazes. It was because these people should have been at the front while Head Richard stayed at the office.

The five seniors felt uncomfortable. If they stayed here, the core members would make things difficult for them. The five seniors decided to leave a few minutes later.

They had just arrived here. It would be unwise if they left right away; then the core members would really have an opportunity to target them. Under their gazes, they began to look for clues.

In the control room, I’m having a field day gathering intel. The core members who gathered were spilling so much information. They were also revealing information about the various checkpoints, unknown space cracks, and hidden ruins.

All of them were left behind by the old organization. The current Covenant didn’t dare touch them so as not to cause a disaster. I didn’t come across such things, except for one sleeping monster near the seashore post.

Fortunately, I was able to do this much damage early. If I had gotten trapped in one of those places, then forget about saving Elder Erwin, I would have been busy saving myself.

I shook my head before continuing to watch them. Seeing the core members look toward the five old men who had just appeared made me raise my eyebrows.

Then I paid attention to the ongoing conversation around the old men. It didn’t take long for me to understand that the five old men worked under Forbidden Wizard Richard.

They were supposed to conduct the investigation with Forbidden Wizard Richard, but for some reason, they had stayed back.

The corners of my mouth curled upward. Thanks to these old men, things ended up working in my favor.

Meanwhile,

A brutal slaughter is taking place inside the system space. The system is executing the order of the host, revealing one wizard after another for the team to kill.

These wizards were already imprisoned and beaten. Their conditions were already terrible, so it was easy for the members to end their lives.

After their deaths, the two monsters ate their bodies. The 10th-order vine monster was especially interested in the blood, while the sky croc monster was interested in eating the flesh, organs, and mana core.

Both monsters had been hungry for many days. They could survive without food for several months, but right now, they had the opportunity to replenish their lost energy.

Because these were the remains of a Magic Lord and a Forbidden Wizard, they could not finish them in one day. It would only be a matter of time before they reached their limit.

Lady Caitlin said, "Let’s focus on killing the wizards first. You guys can have your food later."

Hearing that, everyone agreed. The two monsters looked at each other; they understood they were slowing down the team. The vine monster and the sky croc monster conceded.

They decided to stay there and rest while the rest of the team killed the remaining wizards.

Lady Caitlin and old man Rock were a bit careful while dealing with the Forbidden Wizards. If they wanted to, they could die like Forbidden Wizard Richardson. So, they were cautious while finishing them off.

Outside

While the five seniors were still looking for clues, considerable time had already passed.

It was time for them to leave, but the core members remained. They were actually waiting for the higher-ups to arrive, and they hadn’t received permission to leave.

The five old men looked at each other and decided to leave, having already spent considerable time there.

Just as they began to walk out of the crater one by one:

Boom!

A terrifying pressure appeared out of nowhere and struck them. All five were blasted away from the site, without even enough time to scream.

In the blink of an eye, all five landed on different parts of the ground as the shockwave spread outward. Whether they were alive or dead was unknown.

Their bodies looked bloody and torn apart. The core members assumed they were likely dead, as none of them had even seen the attack coming, it struck so fast that it knocked them clean out.

Thud!

Right then, someone wearing black wizard robes landed in the middle of the clearing. The core members saw the person, and the faces of everyone changed drastically.
