From MC’s Perspective:
I appeared in midair and tried to cross the gate. But I was stopped immediately by the guard. Then I showed my digital I.D. on the communication watch.
Seeing that, the guard nodded his assent. He had just seen the Special Mage Department leaving the Border, and now he had returned right away.
He didn’t know what was going on. He had simply landed at the post to check on others.
Swoosh!
I entered Verdant City and immediately sped toward the Teleportation Platform.
The people who wanted to show were left in disappointment. There were always some people who wanted to forcefully enter the city.
But this time it was not the case. The eyeliners arranged by Aaron Perry had left long ago. They wouldn’t have imagined their target would return right away.
Shortly afterward,
I arrived at the Teleportation Platform. Yet the tense feeling never left me. The guards saw a masked person and wanted to stop him.
I removed the mask and showed my face.
The guards stopped. Then I told them the destination.
Swoosh!
After stepping inside the platform, the guards activated it. I disappeared from the spot and appeared back at the True Elements Society.
The first thing I did was return to the dorm room. After reaching there, I entered the room and closed the door.
I went to the bathroom and opened the hot water tap. The hot water filled the tub within a few minutes. I removed my clothes and entered the tub.
I slowly lay in the tub, and the hot water covered my body, bringing me relaxation.
“It was such a close call,” I mumbled.
How foolish I was! I was close to falling into their trap. As I guessed, no good things come free. Except for personal good encounters, others might have calculations behind them.
Slowly, I closed my eyes and started to enjoy the bath.
Meanwhile,
Aaron Perry was close to the old town. But he hadn’t seen the figure of Vincent Carey. Lord Rhys Perry was waiting for them in the old town.
He couldn’t help but feel bad, as if he had missed something important.
“I’m sure that b@stard is there,” he consoled himself.
About an hour later,
Aaron Perry arrived at the old town, but his expression was not good. He had lost track of Vincent Carey.
Right now, his only hope was Lord Rhys. He hoped that kid would be with Lord Rhys. But when he arrived at the location where Lord Rhys was staying,
He found only Lord Rhys there. It was the abandoned mansion of the old town. There were so many old buildings in the old town.
The owners had moved to the city for better opportunities, leaving behind their ancestral homes. This old town was close to the Verdant City border as well.
Those wanderers without much wealth used these old abandoned buildings to stay during their travels.
Aaron Perry’s heart was in turmoil. He could only sense Lord Rhys’ presence now. There was no other presence, which meant that kid was not here.
“Did Lord Rhys kill that bastard?” Aaron thought.
Swoosh!
Then he entered the abandoned building.
Rhys Perry opened his eyes. His gaze flashed with annoyance. He had found Aaron Perry not long ago. He didn’t know why he had come alone. What about the kid?
“Lord Rhys?” Aaron greeted me.
“Are you alone?” Rhys asked.
Aaron’s heart shuddered. A bad premonition filled his heart. His eyes flashed with fear. The worst thing had happened to him.
Not only had he lost track of Vincent Carey, but he had also spoiled Lord Rhys’s plan.
Rhys saw through his thoughts, and his expression turned dark.
He asked, “Where is that kid?”
“Lord, forgive me!”
“Forgive me; I have made a grave mistake.”
“I lost track of the kid on the way here.”
Aaron Perry started to stutter. He was close to death right now. If Lord Rhys decided to kill him, then it would be the end of him.
“Lost track,” Rhys muttered, but his heart was boiling with anger.
“Did he leave the border?” he asked once again.
Aaron hesitated. A deep fear appeared in his eyes. He could see Rhys was angry. This time there was no escape for him.
“Lord, that kid did leave the border and entered the wilderness. But when I tried to locate him, he was nowhere to be seen. I thought that kid had come to the old town, so I came here right away,” Aaron Perry replied.
Rhys was enraged.
Boom!
Rhys flicked his hand. A tight slap sent Aaron’s body flying back. The old abandoned building was destroyed.
Not only that, but Aaron’s body also left behind destruction. He smashed into the other old buildings one after another. Finally, his body collapsed to the ground.
But the impact left behind a long trail of destruction. The old buildings and the people living inside were destroyed. Those who were alive were fleeing in alarm.
People are not naive. They can tell that a powerful wizard has entered the town, and fighting is happening here.
Usually, something like this happens outside the city. But this time, someone was using their old town. The townsfolk came to the street with fear on their faces. They were not going to stand near the town.
The impact alone could crush several low-level wizards.
Rhys Perry’s eyes were gloomy. He had even used his precious friend’s token for his plan. That was not an ordinary token. It was a key to enter the space magic school.
This is hard to find in a Super Large Nation. Top forces would fight for this token. Yet the token had fallen into the kid’s hands because of him.
Rhys’ expression darkened. Now he thought it was even more important to kill that kid named Vincent Carey. Not only for revenge, but also to retrieve the token.
He had not decided to tell anyone about the token; otherwise, his own family might fight for the token in his hands.
