Grand Return System
Chapter 467: Gareth’s Last Struggle
Gareth’s Last Struggle
After the two of them exchanged thousands of blows, Gareth’s expression completely darkened.
Sweat had begun to gather along his forehead.
His breathing had become heavier.
His hands were slightly numb.
But what truly disturbed him was not exhaustion.
It was Leon.
Leon was still calm.
Far too calm.
Gareth finally realized the problem.
Throughout these thousands of rounds, Leon had never truly been forced into a desperate situation.
Not once.
Even when Gareth unleashed his strongest attacks, Leon remained composed.
He moved as though he were taking a leisurely stroll through a garden rather than fighting inside a terrifying lightning domain.
He dodged when necessary.
Blocked when necessary.
Countered when necessary.
There was no wasted movement.
No unnecessary force.
Every response was precise.
Every action was controlled.
Gareth’s heart sank.
He finally understood.
He finally understood why Leon had given him that opportunity.
It wasn’t arrogance.
It wasn’t mercy.
It wasn’t even provocation.
Leon had simply known.
Based on the current battle situation, Gareth had no chance of winning.
The realization struck harder than any palm.
Gareth’s jaw tightened.
His eyes flickered with unwillingness.
"No... I don’t believe that he’s really invincible."
For the sake of the orthodoxy and the inheritance, Gareth had always comforted himself in his heart, refusing to believe that he would lose.
BOOM...
With a shocking flash, the two of them separated again.
The collision sent ripples of terrifying power through the heavens. Lightning spread across the sky like countless silver serpents, illuminating the battlefield in violent bursts. The air itself seemed to tremble beneath the pressure of the two pinnacle Realm experts.
Within the lightning domain, Leon remained completely composed.
His long, shoulder-length black hair danced wildly in the storm. His purple eyes were calm, almost indifferent, while his midnight robes, embroidered with thin amethyst patterns, fluttered behind him.
The heavenly lightning descended again and again.
Yet Leon simply endured it.
He felt the destructive force travel across his body, felt the numbness in his muscles, and quietly experienced the judgment contained within the lightning.
There was no fear in his eyes.
No hesitation.
The battle just now was only a warm-up.
The real show had yet to begin.
Leon slowly raised his head.
"Old man, is that all you’ve got? If that’s all, then... let’s stop here. The Sky Breaker Acedmy has been passed down for so many years. It’s time for it to end."
His voice wasn’t loud.
But somehow, it carried through the roaring thunder.
Gareth’s expression changed.
His breathing became heavier.
Those words were not merely a provocation.
They sounded like a verdict.
Leon pointed his right hand toward the sky.
The instant his finger rose, the surrounding atmosphere changed.
The raging wind suddenly gathered.
Clouds were torn apart.
Lightning was pushed aside.
A terrifying sword intent erupted from Leon’s body, spreading across the entire sky like an invisible ocean.
The pressure was so sharp that even the spectators below instinctively took several steps backward.
Their robes snapped violently in the wind.
The ground beneath their feet cracked.
Gareth’s face instantly lost its color.
"No, that’s impossible... He didn’t use his full strength after fighting for so long?"
His voice trembled.
For thousands of exchanges, Gareth had believed he was slowly forcing Leon toward his limit.
Now he realized how wrong he had been.
Leon had never truly gone all out.
He had been testing him.
Playing with him.
Above Gareth’s head, the wind began to spiral.
At first, it was merely a faint distortion.
Then the distortion became a whirlpool.
The whirlpool expanded.
A terrifying sword intent condensed inside it.
Slowly, something began to take shape.
A gigantic sword.
Its outline emerged from the storm, growing larger with every passing breath. The surrounding lightning seemed to instinctively avoid it, while the wind itself screamed beneath the pressure of its existence.
Gareth stared upward.
His pupils contracted.
For the first time since the battle began, genuine fear appeared in his eyes.
Looking at the enormous sword forming above him, Gareth completely panicked.
He felt as though he were staring directly at death.
The sword intent alone was enough to make his soul tremble.
He could tell.
If that sword descended, he could not block it.
"No! How can my Sky Breaker Acedmy be destroyed like this..."
Gareth shook his head fiercely.
His gray hair whipped around his face as his hands clenched tightly.
He refused to accept it.
He had spent his entire life protecting the inheritance of Sky Breaker Acedmy. He had endured humiliation, isolation, and countless years of bitterness.
He had watched generations rise and fall.
He had watched rivals disappear into history.
And now, after all those years, was everything really going to end here?
His chest rose and fell heavily.
Then his expression changed.
The desperation in his eyes gradually disappeared.
Something darker replaced it.
He calmed himself.
His gaze became vicious.
Suddenly, a black aura filled the sky.
The atmosphere instantly became strange.
The warmth disappeared.
A suffocating cold spread across the battlefield.
Even the lightning seemed to dim.
Leon frowned.
His purple eyes narrowed as he stared at Gareth.
"Strange Origin?"
For a brief moment, even he was stunned.
Then he felt it.
Beneath Sky Breaker Acedmy, something was awakening.
A massive amount of black aura surged upward from an underground spiritual core.
It was thick.
Dark.
And deeply unnatural.
The black energy rose from beneath the ground like smoke from an ancient abyss, twisting through the cracks in the earth before spreading toward the sky.
Seeing this scene, everyone present was shocked.
"There are actually so much of the Strange Origin hidden in the Sky Breaker Acedmy’s orthodoxy?"
Whispers immediately spread through the crowd.
Some people stepped backward.
Others stared at the black aura in disbelief.
No one had expected something like this to be hidden beneath Sky Breaker Acedmy.
Among the crowd, Selena slowly stepped forward.
Her long white-silver hair flowed behind her in the wind, and her blue eyes were fixed upon the strange black aura.
Her fitted snow-white robe fluttered around her body, the pale blue sash at her waist swaying with every gust.
But there was no elegance in her expression now.
Only killing intent.
Cold.
Sharp.
Unmistakable.
