Chapter 531
"Alright, you stay here, I’m going out for a bit," Adam acted the moment the decision was made.
"What are you going to do? Do you really want to go hunt an Evil God?" Drax’s eyes were full of surprise.
"Who knows," the corners of Adam’s mouth curled upward as he walked out of the warehouse.
Drax watched Adam’s retreating back, a complicated look in his eyes, he opened his mouth, but in the end, nothing came out.
Adam’s resolve had clearly left him shaken, facing Evil Gods of such terrifying power, anyone else would have chosen to flee or crumble into despair, yet Adam chose to fight back, that indomitable spirit brought a sliver of hope to Drax’s heart, even if that hope seemed impossibly thin.
After leaving the warehouse, Adam already had a rough plan forming in his mind, fighting the Evil Gods alone would be no easy feat, but if he did not act, this world, himself included, would plunge into endless darkness, he had to try.
What was more, he was hidden in the shadows, if each Evil God only ruled its own territory, there was a good chance they did not even know he had arrived, that gave him room to maneuver, for example, that pillar of light.
Adam headed straight for the pillar, he wanted to understand this phenomenon more deeply, just as he had guessed, it was very likely a device the Evil God used to absorb evil qi and strengthen its own power, countless streams of black qi gathered from every direction, pouring in before being transmitted to who knew where.
Of course, Adam had no intention of destroying it, that would only alert the enemy, he had a far better idea.
Did the Evil God enjoy absorbing evil qi so much? This pitiful amount was far too boring, Adam was going to give it something truly massive.
After confirming the pillar’s function, Adam returned to the warehouse, set up an isolation formation, and drew a massive bronze cauldron from his storage bag.
He stood in the center of the warehouse, the cauldron slowly rotating before him, giving off a faint, archaic luster, his gaze was focused and firm, as though conducting a sacred ritual.
Drax watched from the side, utterly bewildered.
"Since the Evil God loves absorbing evil qi so much, I’ll let it taste an entity of ultimate yang," a sly smile hooked the corners of Adam’s mouth, his hands rapidly formed seals, and spiritual energy surged into the cauldron like a tidal wave.
"Drax, watch closely, humanity’s greatest strength is not our cultivation realm, but our refusal to ever give up, I am going to begin refining," Adam turned to Drax, his voice ringing with unquestionable resolve.
Drax stared blankly, and the adorable face of his sister flashed unbidden through his mind.
...
Inside that time-worn cave, the stone walls had long been swallowed by moss, occasional water droplets fell from the ceiling with crisp sounds, adding a touch of life to the dead silence.
The silhouettes of the siblings appeared blurry and frail under the dim light, their breathing echoing with uncommon clarity.
When that man had come rushing in, his clothes were in tatters, his face caked in dirt and blood, eyes brimming with panic, the moment he collapsed, his body crashed against a protruding rock, after that, he lay motionless, seemingly having lost consciousness.
Drax had stood there, dagger in hand, its edge glinting coldly, his gaze drifted between the fallen man and his sister, his heart filled with struggle.
He knew the cruelty of this hunting game, and understood only the victor could survive, yet his sister’s words had nourished his heart like a clear spring, forcing him to reevaluate his choice.
Her small hands gripped the corner of his clothes tightly, eyes full of innocence and unwavering determination, she gently stroked the back of his hand, trying to soothe his turmoil with her warmth.
She said softly, "Brother, haven’t we faced difficulties before? But we never gave up, we always found a solution together, it’s the same this time, we will find a way for everyone to survive."
A warm current welled up inside Drax’s heart, he took a deep breath and sheathed his dagger.
...
Drax shook his head, forcing himself to stop reminiscing.
In truth, he knew why his sister had spoken those words, she had seen the cowardice lurking in his heart, he had been too afraid to act, and she had spoken to ease his fear, that was why he had put down the dagger without hesitation.
And so he could not forgive himself, because of his cowardice, he had made a decision he would regret for the rest of his life.
He turned his eyes back to Adam’s refinement.
As Adam continuously poured spiritual energy inward, the flames within the cauldron gradually grew fierce, as if capable of devouring all darkness, while controlling the heat, he tossed precious items of ultimate yang, ultimate hardness, and ultimate righteousness in one after another, shards of the Scorching Sun’s Heart, the essence of Nine-Yang Grass, Heavenly Essence Righteous Qi Stones, every one was a rare treasure containing boundless righteous qi and yang power.
No matter how strong the Evil God is, it will still fear this vast, righteous qi, Adam thought to himself, his movements growing increasingly practiced.
As time passed, the materials began to fuse, releasing dazzling light that dyed the warehouse in a faint layer of gold.
Just as Adam was completely absorbed, an inexplicable fluctuation transmitted from outside, and his brows furrowed in an instant.
Not good, the aura of an evil entity, alarm bells rang in Adam’s heart, but his hands did not pause for even a fraction of a breath.
He knew that allowing himself to be distracted now would waste all his previous efforts, the materials inside the cauldron would be ruined, and he had only brought a single portion of some of them, refining from scratch would yield vastly inferior results.
For now, he could only press on and hope the entity would not enter the warehouse, so long as it stayed outside, the isolation formation would keep them hidden.
"Drax, be careful!" Adam quickly sent a telepathic message, simultaneously accelerating the refinement, he had to finish refining this entity of ultimate yang and righteousness as quickly as possible to deal with the impending crisis.
Hearing this, Drax’s body instantly tensed up, the spiritual energy within his body also began to circulate, ready at any moment to deal with a sudden attack.
