He was incredibly shocked, Adam’s strength had actually reached such a terrifying level.

"It’s not good to get distracted!"

Adam gave a teasing smile, his figure flashed again, appearing directly behind the man, his spiritual sword thrust straight toward the man’s back.

"Time Divine Domain!"

The man’s heart tightened, he tried to dodge, only to find his body felt like it was sinking into a mud pit, he couldn’t dodge at all.

Left with no choice, he hastily swung his sword to defend, but he was still a step too late, although he avoided a fatal strike, a large wound was still left on his back.

"Damn you!" The man was furious, he had actually been injured by someone with a lower cultivation realm.

His figure transformed into a bolt of blue lightning, the sword light flowing on his blade as he charged directly at Adam.

But Adam’s speed was even faster, showing no fear, he charged forward to meet the attack, the two constantly exchanged moves and countered, although they appeared evenly matched, the reality was that the man was merely passively defending against Adam’s attacks, feeling a mix of shock and rage in his heart, he never expected to be bested by a young man.

Meanwhile, Adam grew more courageous as the fight wore on, the spiritual sword in his hand turned into streams of golden sword light, relentlessly attacking his opponent.

"Who exactly are you? How do you have such powerful sword techniques?" the man asked in astonishment.

"Fighting me, and you still dare to get distracted by asking questions?"

Adam seized the opportunity, the man was stabbed in the chest by Adam’s sword, and blood instantly spurted out.

"You..."

A flash of terror crossed the man’s eyes, he hadn’t expected to suffer such a miserable defeat.

"Remember, keep your head down next time you see me."

Adam gave him a cold glance, then withdrew his spiritual sword and turned to leave, he didn’t dare stay in someone else’s territory for too long, he knew his actions today had exposed him, and he had to leave as quickly as possible.

He quickly left the alley, returned to the main street, and found a secluded spot to hide, he altered his appearance and walked back out, after changing his disguise several more times, Adam finally felt assured enough to return to the inn.

Just as he entered the door, a gust of spring breeze swirled around him, soon, the Book Saint appeared beside him.

"How did it go? Did you discover anything?" the Book Saint asked impatiently.

Adam nodded and detailed everything he had seen and heard.

After listening, the Book Saint fell silent, with the sudden involvement of the City Lord’s Estate, he couldn’t help but suspect this might be a trap, although upon analysis the probability seemed low, as long as the possibility existed, it would be a massive gamble, he originally thought the appearance of a third-party faction would serve as the spear to break the deadlock, but now he hesitated.

"Senior Book Saint, what should we do now?" Adam asked, he knew the situation was extremely complex and required careful consideration.

The Book Saint’s brows were tightly furrowed.

If Adam hadn’t fought that man today, they could have continued investigating in the shadows, but that battle had dragged them right out into the open, if they didn’t act immediately, the other party would likely flee, but if they acted now, and it turned out to be a trap, they would lose everything.

To gamble or not to gamble, this was the question currently placed before them.

"We need to discuss this carefully," the Book Saint said, taking a deep breath, a look of resolve flickered in his eyes.

"We can’t take risks lightly, but we also can’t miss this opportunity."

"Adam, tonight I will return to the City Lord’s Estate to investigate alone. If I crush my communication jade token, it means the situation is incredibly dire, in that case, I leave the Heaven-Slaying Society in your hands!"

"If I don’t, I will send you a signal, you must immediately bring the people we’ve selected to meet up with me!"

Adam was taken aback, why had the atmosphere suddenly become so heavy?

"Senior Book Saint, is there a need to go to such desperate lengths?"

Smelling the faint, tragic, and heroic aura in the air, Adam recalled that in the novels and anime of his past life, characters in these situations usually never returned.

"No, this is our only chance, if we let the Heavenly Court react, we will lose our opportunity entirely." The Book Saint’s eyes were filled with determination.

"But Senior, going alone is too dangerous." Adam was still worried, it would be a huge pity if someone like the Book Saint died.

"Don’t worry. I know what I’m doing, I’m very strong, you know!" The Book Saint patted Adam’s shoulder and gave him a reassuring look.

"Then Senior, you must be careful," Adam urged.

"Rest assured, I will." The Book Saint smiled, then turned and left the room.

Adam stood in front of the window, watching the Book Saint’s retreating back, an indescribable feeling welled up in his heart.

Inside the City Lord’s Estate, the Study.

The dim yellow candlelight struggled to illuminate the room, a man with a dignified face, wearing purple official robes, sat motionless, it was unknown what he was thinking about, or what he was waiting for.

On the desk lay two reports, one was about a subordinate encountering a member of the Heaven-Slaying Society outside today, under normal circumstances, this would be very common, members of the Heaven-Slaying Society often rescued people in the city, so an occasional clash was nothing strange.

But the other report detailed the disappearance of two subordinates, those two just happened to be the ones assigned to monitor that outsider, all of this gave him a very bad premonition.

Whoosh! Suddenly, a gust of wind blew into the study.

His pupils shrank violently.

Two figures appeared right before his eyes, an old man and a middle-aged man.

The elder had graying hair but radiated formidable vigor, he stepped directly in front of the official-robed man, looking as if facing a terrifying enemy as he glared warily at the middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man, dressed in a scholar’s green robe, wore a gentle expression as he smiled at the pair before him.
