Chapter 946: Chapter 943
"Okay!"
The colleague chuckled, looking very suggestive, then turned and went next door.
Gu Xiaoning had no idea what was going on. As the colleague left, she even gave Gu Xiaoning a rather sympathetic look.
The door closed, and there was a soft "click" by her ear—he’d locked it!
"Uh..." Gu Xiaoning started to panic.
All of a sudden, something tightened around her waist.
Her whole body was lifted off the ground, and the next second, the world spun as she was thrown onto the bed!
"Ah..." Gu Xiaoning stared wide-eyed, terrified, at Le Zhengsheng looming over her. "Ah Sheng?"
"Tch!" Le Zhengsheng curled his lips. "You finally said my name? I thought in just two short years you’d already forgotten me!"
Gu Xiaoning’s eyes flushed red at once. She forced back her tears. "I... I thought you’d forgotten me..."
"Heh!" Le Zhengsheng let out a cold laugh. "Forget you? How could I!"
Gu Xiaoning froze for a second. What did he mean by that? Could it be...
She heard Le Zhengsheng continue, "A woman who abandons her husband and child—how many of those could I possibly run into in one lifetime? Gu Xiaoning, how am I supposed to forget? Forget the knife you stabbed into my heart! Forget the shame you brought me!"
Gu Xiaoning bit down hard on her lower lip.
"Stop acting pitiful!" Le Zhengsheng gripped her chin, his fingertips lightly skimming across her face. "It’s this face of yours that bewitched me! Are you pitiful? What about you is pitiful?"
"So..." Gu Xiaoning choked up, "you fired me so I’d have no job, right?"
"Yes!" Le Zhengsheng ground his teeth, hating her to the bone. "What? You feel wronged?"
Gu Xiaoning paused, then shook her head. "No, I don’t."
"Hmph!" Le Zhengsheng curled his lip. "But I never expected this, Gu Xiaoning—that you’d be this short on money? You’d even do this kind of job?"
Gu Xiaoning was a little dazed. This kind of job? What’s wrong with being a massage therapist?
In an instant, his hand tightened around her waist... Le Zhengsheng’s hand slipped under her uniform, reaching in!
"Ah!" Gu Xiaoning went pale with fright. "Ah Sheng, what are you doing?"
"What am I doing?" Le Zhengsheng chuckled softly. "You don’t get it? I had them leave—did you really not understand what I wanted to do?"
"No..." Gu Xiaoning shook her head. "Don’t do this!"
Le Zhengsheng held her fast, not letting go, gently stroking her hair at her temple. "But I want you. Tonight, I have to have you."
Gu Xiaoning had absolutely no strength to resist, and suddenly blurted, "Ah Sheng, you... is this your first time here? Not counting me..."
Le Zhengsheng was stunned...
In the past two years, of course it wasn’t his first time coming to this kind of place. Places like this, to put it bluntly, are all vaguely sexual. But the truth was, Le Zhengsheng had never touched any of those women. Only now, with Gu Xiaoning asking, how could he admit that?
He couldn’t admit it! He couldn’t let her know that without her, he hadn’t even wanted to touch another woman!
Le Zhengsheng curled his lips into a strained smile. "What do you think? Of course not... Don’t think too highly of yourself. You weren’t the first, and you won’t be the last."
Gu Xiaoning was stunned silly. When she came back, she’d already braced herself for this.
...That Le Zhengsheng wouldn’t wait for her. She had ’betrayed’ him like that—how could he possibly wait?
Yet hearing him say this now, she still felt heartbroken.
The Ah Sheng whose eyes and heart had once held only her had turned into this.
Le Zhengsheng’s gaze was deep and bottomless, the gentleness laced with sharpness that pierced straight through Gu Xiaoning. Her heart seemed to ache, right where it was...
"Why aren’t you talking?" Le Zhengsheng frowned. He lowered his head and captured her lips.
The moment their lips met, Le Zhengsheng felt like he was about to lose his mind! It had only been two years—how could this taste drive him this crazy?
For a moment, he completely lost control...
Gu Xiaoning struggled, crying, "Ah Sheng, no... don’t do this! I’m begging you..."
Le Zhengsheng’s eyes were bloodshot; he couldn’t stop.
"Don’t want it?" Le Zhengsheng sounded confused, swallowing impatiently. "Why not? What, after two years, your body doesn’t recognize me anymore? They say a woman’s body remembers its owner—what, did you forget who your first man was?"
Her first... man?
A chill spread out from Gu Xiaoning’s heart.
Ah Sheng, you’re not only my first man, you’re my only man... and yet I’m no longer your only one.
Gu Xiaoning shut her eyes and stopped resisting. Tears seeped from the corners of her eyes.
Le Zhengsheng suddenly stopped, startled. "You... you’re crying?"
Gu Xiaoning didn’t speak. Her heart was full of grievances... but she didn’t resent him, not in the slightest.
Le Zhengsheng was silent for a moment, then scoffed. "You’re crying because I’m touching you?"
He shook his head. "So now you hate me touching you this much."
"No!" Gu Xiaoning’s eyes flew open. "It’s not that I hate you! Ah Sheng, it’s you who hates me!"
"Shouldn’t I?" Le Zhengsheng’s voice suddenly shot up. He glared at her, his eyes filled entirely with hatred. "Shouldn’t I hate you?"
Gu Xiaoning trembled all over, stunned.
Le Zhengsheng curled his lips, his gaze razor-sharp. "Gu Xiaoning, you never thought you’d see this day, did you? When you walked out on me back then, did it cross your mind? That you’d come back someday? What, things didn’t work out with that man for the long haul? Why are you back? Huh? What are you back for?"
"Ah Sheng, I..."
Gu Xiaoning faltered. How was she supposed to say it? Tell him she came back to find him?
She hesitated for ages. "Ah Sheng, I wanted... to see our daughter."
"You don’t deserve to!" Le Zhengsheng snapped, cutting her off. "Now you remember your daughter? Back when you were carrying her in your belly and ran off with that man, did you spare her a thought? With a mother like you, Jiujiu is better off without one!"
"Jiujiu..."
At the mention of her daughter, Gu Xiaoning craved to know more.
"Is Jiujiu... is she a good girl?"
With a sweep of his arm, Le Zhengsheng let go of her and stood up. "You don’t need to know, and you have no right to know! I’m warning you—stay away from Jiujiu! Jiujiu has always believed her mom is gone. I don’t want Jiujiu to find out that her biological mother is a woman like you!"
Ah...
Gu Xiaoning clutched her chest tightly. "Ah Sheng, you... you hate me that much?"
"Yes." Le Zhengsheng’s answer was firm as a hammer blow.
"Ah Sheng." Gu Xiaoning couldn’t take it anymore. "Actually, I... back then, I had..."
His phone rang on the table.
Le Zhengsheng walked over and answered it. "Hello? Yes, it’s me... Ruoya..."
Holding the phone, Le Zhengsheng went to the window to talk.
Gu Xiaoning hurriedly got off the bed and straightened her clothes. She kept glancing at him. His tone on the phone was gentle, a far cry from how he’d just been with her.
Ruoya? That was the name he’d just said, right? It sounded like a woman’s name.
Suddenly, a heavy weight settled over her heart.
"Okay, see you in a bit." Le Zhengsheng hung up and walked back over.
Gu Xiaoning stood there with her hands at her sides. Le Zhengsheng slanted a look at her. "Gu Xiaoning."
"Mm." Gu Xiaoning lowered her head, her long swan neck delicate, skin whiter than snow.
"Disappear from my sight." Le Zhengsheng said coldly. His voice sounded like a sigh, yet carried a fierce hatred.
Gu Xiaoning was stunned, then suddenly lifted her head to look at him. "Ah Sheng..."
"Don’t call me that!" The muscles in Le Zhengsheng’s jaw tightened, his pain raw. "You’ve lost the right to call me that! Gu Xiaoning, I finally got used to life without you! And Jiujiu too! Do you have any idea how hard I’ve worked to keep her from looking for her mom?"
This past year, Le Zhengsheng had been both father and mother. Most of his energy had gone into Jiujiu.
"Ah Sheng..." Gu Xiaoning faltered, wanting to explain.
But then she heard Le Zhengsheng say, "I already have my own life now. Whether you did it on purpose or not, don’t show up in front of me again."
Gu Xiaoning blinked, stunned, unable to believe it. "You’re saying you already..."
She thought of that Ruoya from a moment ago...
In her panic, the words slipped out. "Do you have a girlfriend now?"
There’d been no news outside about Le Zhengsheng getting married, so that meant a girlfriend, right?
Le Zhengsheng frowned. Why was she asking this? Of course he couldn’t deny it.
He curled his lips, giving a slight nod. "Obviously."
Gu Xiaoning’s heart plunged to rock bottom. The explanations she’d wanted to make were swallowed back down. Her palms went cold. "Uh, you two... are things going well?"
"Naturally." Le Zhengsheng scoffed, numb from his fingertips to his heart. "Jiujiu really likes her. Things are going smoothly between us."
"Will..." Gu Xiaoning clenched her hands, her fingertips digging deep into her palms. "Will you get married?"
Hmm? Le Zhengsheng frowned. Why was she asking this? What did it have to do with her?
