Goblin Dependency

Chapter 1186 - 586: Flame!

Uek had never imagined that the young adventurer in front of him, with his head of black hair and sharply cut features, could pull off something like this.

For this Sacrificial Ceremony, the preparations made by their Sha Hua Fishman tribe were far more extensive than anyone on the field could have imagined.

They had deliberately launched an early attack to disrupt Dodd’s plan, carried out a probing assault to gauge the adventurers’ strength on the island, and even deployed large numbers of Fishmen in the seas around Stodd Island to observe passing ships and personnel, thereby making sure that no Transcendent or even higher-Level professionals were involved.

Uek could be certain: among these adventurers on the shore, not to mention any Extraordinary Strong whose Professional Level exceeded Level 10, there wasn’t even anyone close.

The highest were estimated to be around Level 7, Level 8 at most, still far from the threshold of Transcendence.

Let alone that, after being weakened by Dodd’s Secret Realm ritual, these adventurers’ strength had been further reduced.

Given the defensive forces the Sha Hua Fishmen had deployed for this Sacrificial Ceremony, these adventurers might be able to inflict some casualties on the overall army, but the odds of them winning in the end were infinitesimal.

And in fact, if one only looked at the situation on the coastal battlefield, things were indeed unfolding just as Uek had anticipated.

The weakened adventurers, fighting in their respective small teams, were struggling under the encirclement of the Fishmen. Though a few powerful individuals occasionally put on eye‑catching performances, the overall situation was subtly tilting in favor of the Fishmen.

The two sides were locked in bitter entanglement until the Sacrificial Ceremony was completed, the envoy from the Divine Country entered the battlefield, and after a sweep of crushing destruction, declared the battle over.

Yet the moment that black haired Adventurer was sent flying by a single punch from the Divine Envoy, blasted into the depths of the Fishman army, far out in the sea away from the shore—

The situation on the field instantly started to go wrong.

No one knew by what means the other side had managed to keep that punch’s damage under control.

After falling beneath the surface of the sea, he not only failed to be gravely injured as imagined and get killed by the surrounding Fishmen.

He instead displayed a speed no different from at the beginning, in fact even faster.

Using that special Battle Skill that made him look like the incarnation of a Black Wolf, he streaked through the water.

His nimble, highly mobile posture left even the tribe’s best pursuit hunters, who excelled at swimming and chasing, unable to catch up, making one have to wonder whose home turf the water really was.

The black haired Adventurer’s aim was clear: he was targeting the Priests and Spellcasters among the Fishman tribe.

And he actually succeeded.

Facing the remaining few Elite Guards in the water, he either deftly slipped past them or cleanly cut them down.

Facing the Spells unleashed by several Spellcasters including Uek himself, he either relied on his Equipment to defend, or simply took them head‑on with his body.

When Uek stood on the reef at the shoreline, meditating to slightly recover the Spiritual Magic Power he had consumed with his successive castings and the Sacrificial Ceremony—

He looked back out over the sea to see only wreckage and chaos remaining.

Naturally, Uek’s mood was anything but pleasant.

As the Commander of this Fishman army, each and every one of them—even the lowest grunts—belonged to his Strength, the foundation for his continued climb upward in the future.

Not to mention that what Xia Nan had been focusing on slaughtering were the tribe’s extremely important Priests and Spellcasters.

After this battle, even if it ended right here and no more casualties occurred, Uek still felt he had suffered a tremendous loss.

Fortunately, the ritual had ultimately been completed, the Divine Envoy had descended into the Material Realm, and his mission was a complete success. Even if there were some losses in the army, they did not affect his merits.

Besides, the black haired Adventurer before him—whose real‑combat ability was practically outrageous—had fallen into a heavily injured state after killing so many Fishman Priests. Uek only needed to then...

Buzz—

His train of thought was cut off by a sudden humming sound in the air.

A vivid Green radiance brimming with the aura of life burst from the black haired Adventurer’s body, rapidly healing the gruesome, bloody wounds scattered all over him.

In just a few short breaths, he went from heavily injured back to merely lightly wounded.

"What the..."

Uek was astonished, instinctively guessing that the opponent might possess some special Battle Skill or Rare Equipment capable of restoring injuries.

The surface of the Magic Wand in his hand flickered with Magic Radiance as he prepared to interrupt the opponent’s casting.

But that tall, razor‑sharp silhouette had already turned into a pitch‑black wolf shadow, howling as it streaked towards him.

As Commander of the Fishman army, the core caster, the highest‑ranking existence among the Sha Hua Fishmen on the field aside from the Blood Skin Shark Beast—

Uek of course had his own personal guards at his side.

—No less than three Four armed Fishmen whose combat power was noticeably stronger than their peers and whose bodies were much more robust, plus a fully armed Elite Fishman Commander.

With a single order, the Commander was already moving, taking one guard with him to intercept in the direction Xia Nan was charging from.

His combat experience was extremely rich; he knew the opponent possessed speed and mobility far surpassing that of an ordinary adventurer, and they had already tested his resistances.

The first Spell Uek used was still aimed at imposing a physical restriction.

—2nd Ring·Transformation Series·Thorny Bush!

Magic Radiance shot out from the tip of his Magic Wand, with a bit of lead time, dropping—like Prejudice—right onto the path the charging Black Wolf had to pass through.

Hard vine‑thorns grew out from the sandy soil, swaying as if alive, wrapping around Xia Nan’s lower legs and climbing upward.

The barbs on their surface left streak after streak of scratches on his Leg Armor; a few struck unprotected gaps without Leg Armor, shredding fabric and turning into fine wounds on his calves that oozed fresh blood.

The boiling battle lust in his heart almost instinctively pushed the pain down.
