Chapter 1170 - 578: No More Retreat (Part 2)

The crew who could know my final plan and stay on this ship to wait for my return are the ones I trust the most under Dodd.

They are fully aware of Dodd’s cooperative relationship with the Fishmen, and in the face of the Fishmen’s attack, it’s impossible to hide their identity under "Algae Scale".

Uek dared to explain it this way now precisely because the dead don’t speak!

"You damned sea rats, I..."

Dodd was halfway through cursing when suddenly he seemed to realize something, and his voice grew smaller.

The gaze that was originally fixed on the opposite side wavered in an instant.

Even if he successfully advanced, even if he could turn back time to yesterday, he would never have hesitated like this.

But the current situation is quite different.

On one hand, his condition is extremely poor, and it’s hard to say if his actual combat ability is even half of what it was at his peak, losing the confidence he once had;

On the other hand, the number of Sha Hua Fishmen on the field has now exceeded what he can handle, and even if he ignored those Fishman lackeys, the elite guards, the commander, and the Uek priest in front of him are enough to threaten his life.

Having roamed the Southern Islands for many years, he might have a decent reputation among adventurers, but after all, he’s not a Transcendent or a Legendary figure, and there have been times when Dodd had to bow his head.

Now, to rise again, he had no choice but to swallow the harsh words that almost reached his throat.

One could still hear deep-seated anger, but more than that, his tone had already turned into a stiff and reluctant sentiment.

"The matters of the ship and the sailors...I can temporarily put aside."

Dodd clenched his teeth tightly.

"But you need to compensate me and then send me off this island."

"Forget it, as for compensation, anything will do, just a random shark is enough, take me away, and later consider it as if I owe you a favor."

If any of his crew were alive on the field at that moment, none of them would have expected that the famous "Algae Scale" Dodd on the sea would have such a day of compromise and humility.

Nevertheless, facing the submission of this Great Pirate, the Fishman priest before him, obviously, wasn’t appreciative.

Without any change in tone, he quietly said:

"Captain Dodd, you still seem not to understand."

"According to the agreement, our cooperation is complete."

"You accepted our resources, and everything on this island now belongs to us."

"Including the original fishermen and sailors living here, including those adventurers on the dock, including the town you passed through on your way, the coast you’re standing on, and even...you yourself."

Dodd only felt a cold chill rushing to his heart, suddenly extinguishing the rage burning within.

What the hell do these damn Sha Hua Fishmen want to do!?

They even want to spare me, are they mad?!??

Thinking this in his heart, like being splashed with a bucket of cold water, Dodd also realized the situation on the field.

With his knowledge of these demon-like Sha Hua Fishmen, since they’ve spoken like this, there is no room for alleviation between them.

These despicable and lowly sea rats truly want to kill him and use him as a sacrifice in their rituals.

Recognizing reality quickly, Dodd did not plead pathetically like countless adventurers he had previously killed, in front of the Sha Hua Fishmen.

With his mind racing, he rapidly devised an emergency response plan.

His expression suddenly shifted to one of quite convincing panic, urgently saying:

"Wait! Wait!"

"Gold coins? Equipment? Or high-level adventurer offerings?"

"Whatever you want, I can give you more!"

As he spoke, he subtly moved his steps, slowly approaching Uek’s direction.

"You know, I’ve been in the Southern Islands for many years and know many remote human settlements that have little defensive power."

"The civilians on those islands could be used as offerings for you."

Dodd took two more steps forward, speaking earnestly, while his right hand naturally dropped beside his thigh, perfectly hidden.

"If you want higher quality offerings, I also have some intelligence."

"To my knowledge, there is more than one high-level adventurer currently secluded on remote islands in the sea."

"I can use my channels to help you gather intelligence!"

He seemed to have hit a point of interest, as Uek’s old and aged face showed a hint of genuine interest, even the white glow in his eyes flickered slightly.

And Dodd, seizing the opportunity, stepped forward once more, bringing Uek completely into his attack range.

Without any warning, while he was telling Uek about the intelligence of offerings he knew, his right hand placed beside his thigh drew at an exaggerated speed that even ordinary people or low-level adventurers could only see as a blur.

As the cold light flashed, the sharp dagger was thrust directly toward the Fishman in front of him.

It was obviously utilizing a certain battle skill technique. As the blade cut through the air, its surface was covered in a platinum-white shimmering light resembling flames.

Gathering all the power in Dodd’s body, even if weaker than at full strength, there was no doubt it could easily pierce through a steel plate.

The control of distance was impeccable, putting the priest in front into the attack range, and the Fishman commanders behind, fulfilling their guard duties, could only watch the flickering sharp light of the dagger head straight toward the priest’s face.

But surprisingly, facing Dodd’s sudden attack, Uek’s expression did not change at all, as if he had anticipated Dodd’s reaction and had even prepared defensively beforehand.

The magic radiance at the tip of the Bone White Staff in his hand flickered, and a semi-transparent shield that shone with a gleaming blue luster enveloped his entire body.

The next second, the dagger wrapped in platinum flame collided fiercely with the glowing blue shield.

The shield shook violently, ripples spreading across its surface.

At the moment the dagger met the shield, "Algae Scale" Dodd immediately sensed something was wrong in his heart.

With his extremely rich combat experience, just from the feedback of power transmitted through the dagger handle upon touch, he could instantly judge that this strike would likely fail to break through the defense.

He quickly shifted his strategy.

Loosening his right hand abruptly, he allowed the dagger to be repelled and thrown away.

The dragon tail behind him suddenly exerted force, pressed against the ground, and as his waist and abdomen engaged power, a step between his legs completed the turn.

Heading away from the coast, Dodd sprinted at full speed, the loose cloak clinging tightly to him under the wind pressure.

"Ga! Lu!"

"Ga lu lu!"

Having just attacked the group leader in front of them, of course, the Fishman commanders couldn’t allow Dodd to leave, roaring as they moved forward to chase.

But Uek gently raised a hand to stop them.

With the Bone White Staff slowly lifting off the ground, the Fishman priest’s lips moved as if reciting some spell, quickly gathering the magic particles in the air, which under spiritual power control, were arranged in a specific pattern to fill the Magic Model.

"Buzz!"

With a sharp screech echoing along the coast.

Representing the "Enchantment and Control System", a flash of pink magic radiance flickered through the air.

The spatial barrier was instantly crossed, and the light fell directly onto Dodd’s back.

It didn’t cause any actual harm, at least on Dodd’s face, covered in sweat, there was no expression of pain, instead, his focus and patience remained as he turned to flee.

But simultaneously, his originally rapidly moving legs, nearly turning into a blur, moved slower and slower in a series of steps.

One step, two steps...

From initial sprinting, to jogging, then to a brisk walk.

Finally coming to a complete halt, stopping in place.

Of course, it wasn’t that Dodd voluntarily gave up the idea of retreat.

Uek’s Enchantment Spell pierced through the perception resistance of the Dragon Descendant, temporarily preventing him from taking any action related to "escape" or "retreat".

Compelling him into combat.

Slowly turning around, his expression changed.

No one knows what’s in Dodd’s mind at this moment, having suffered successive defeats.

As the school of Fishmen gradually approached him from the front, he took two deep breaths.

Then took off the cloak originally used to conceal his figure.

"Boom!!!"

A violent explosion echoed along the coast.
