  1. The Imprisoned Deity

[Remaining Simulation Attempts: 9]

Lin Ye opened his eyes, the prison transport vehicle was moving forward. He approached the large door, and just as he was about to try pushing it open, a sudden sense of unease washed over him.

'So what's the situation outside right now? Where is this prison transport vehicle driving?'

Lin Ye stopped his movements. There was still a short window of time before the city would be destroyed by the explosion. He had planned to leave the prison transport vehicle early, but it seemed that wouldn't be possible.

"What are you trying to do? If you want to die, don't drag us down with you!"

The burly man stared at Lin Ye, reaching his hand toward his crotch.

"None of you have probably experienced this kind of mission before. I'm different, I've completed many recon missions. If you don't want to die, you'd better stay out of my way."

Lin Ye sat beside the exit, ready to sprint toward the driver's seat at maximum speed the moment the prison transport vehicle came to a stop.

"Can you tell us about it? Maybe we can help you with something."

Old Black wanted to learn some information about the mission.

"Abnormal incidents this troublesome are usually caused by the organization. When we get there, I'll go look for the organization's base in this area. If you're willing to help, follow along. If not, just stay out of my way."

Lin Ye didn't think these D-Class personnel would actually help. He just didn't want to waste time here.

Old Black wanted to say something more, but the prison transport vehicle had already begun to slow down.

Lin Ye tried pushing open the large door, and it swung open directly. Outside was the road constantly rushing backward.

'That factory!'

Lin Ye looked diagonally across the road. The organization's base was beneath the factory on that side.

There were many vehicles on the road. Lin Ye didn't hesitate for a single moment. He leaped straight out of the prison transport vehicle, tumbled several times on the asphalt, then used the momentum to charge toward the opposite side of the road.

"Hey! Have you lost your mind?!"

Old Black let out a cry of shock, but Lin Ye had already vaulted over the median barrier in the middle of the road.

Nearby vehicles blared their piercing horns. Those hot-tempered drivers had no idea their lives were already on a countdown. In ten minutes, this city would be destroyed by the explosion, unless this traffic-rule-violating prisoner could resolve the abnormal incident before then.

Lin Ye charged into the factory. There wasn't a single person inside. Scattered construction materials were piled up in various places throughout the factory.

These were all camouflage for the organization's base. Lin Ye knew exactly where the base entrance was.

Pushing aside the stacks of construction materials, Lin Ye found the passageway entrance leading underground.

'Hopefully the organization's base is down there.'

Lin Ye lifted the hatch cover. What lay below wasn't a high-tech door requiring a password, but rather that empty stone passage.

'...What a pity.'

Lin Ye entered the passageway. There was no need to rush now.

If this place hadn't already swapped positions with the organization's base, Lin Ye could still find a way to quickly resolve the abnormal incident. But after the swap, there was nothing he could do.

It took Natalie more than twenty minutes just to reach the very bottom, let alone an ordinary person like him.

Lin Ye couldn't stop the explosion above, unless he could move into the organization's base within ten minutes and resolve the abnormal incident.

That was nearly impossible.

Lin Ye went deeper into the passageway. A few minutes later, a muffled explosion sounded from above, and the entire passageway trembled.

'I wonder if those D-Class personnel will survive.'

Lin Ye quickened his pace. Last time, this passageway hadn't collapsed, but after all, the bottom was where a deity was imprisoned. Something could go wrong at any moment.

It took Lin Ye over thirty minutes to reach the deepest part of the passageway. There was still a vast underground space, but in the center of it, there was a blurry phantom.

The phantom kept shifting forms, seemingly trying to accomplish something.

"Hello, do you happen to know where the base here was moved to?"

Lin Ye stood in the passageway and spoke up.

This was an imprisoned deity. This was still the organization's city. He was far worse off than Lin Ye.

"You're a creature of this plane? I can bring that base back, as long as you do me a small favor."

The deity stopped its movements and sent out a spiritual imprint.

"Answer my question first. You didn't even know I was coming, and you still want to bargain with me?"

Unless absolutely necessary, Lin Ye didn't plan to step into the underground space. The one across from him was a deity after all, it might have some hidden tricks up its sleeve.

"I can answer your question, but as an exchange, you'll have to answer one of mine as well."

The deity quickly sent back a spiritual imprint.

"Fine. There used to be a base here. Give me the method to get to that base."

Lin Ye changed his question.

"I can only give you the spatial coordinates for that location. If you help me with something, I can send you directly inside that base."

The deity sent back a spiritual imprint.

"Tell me the method to get there. If you don't know, then there's no point in us continuing this conversation."

Lin Ye didn't need anything else.

"Then let's end the conversation here."

The deity sent back a spiritual imprint.

"...You're the one who said that."

Since talking was useless, force would have to do.

Lin Ye began recalling that special spiritual imprint in his mind. His body started to twist and deform, and soon split apart into eight alien Lin Yes of different sizes.

The eight alien Lin Yes fused back together again, finally merging into a single alien Lin Ye with eight heads and sixteen arms.

Because the organs of the eight alien Lin Yes were of different specifications, the fused alien Lin Ye looked extremely bizarre and twisted.

"...What are you trying to do?"

The deity sent a spiritual imprint to the alien Lin Ye.

The alien Lin Ye didn't answer. It walked into the underground space, heading straight toward where the phantom was located.

"You actually dare to come in?"

The deity felt that Lin Ye was somewhat off, but a body delivered right to its doorstep, it couldn't possibly give that up.

Although this body looked extremely strange, the deity still extended its mental energy into it.

"What is this place?"

The phantom surged entirely into the alien Lin Ye's body. Once inside, it realized that the interior of this body was far more complex than it had imagined.

It couldn't even find where Lin Ye's Consciousness was located.

"You really dared to come in?"

The alien Lin Ye appeared across from the deity. He had only planned to try it out, never expecting to succeed on the first attempt.

"Is this your mental world? You're just an ordinary person, how can you contain me?"

The deity's phantom asked with some confusion.

"Mental world? No, this isn't some mental world. This is a hybrid creation twisted together from spirit and flesh. After entering here, you're no longer a purely spiritual entity."

The alien Lin Ye walked up beside the deity's phantom. He didn't make a move, because there was no longer any need to.

"What nonsense are you talking about? How could I possibly become part of you?"

The deity's phantom tried to attack the alien Lin Ye. Its attack was powerful, and it blew the alien Lin Ye apart in a single strike.
