Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator
Chapter 861: Job Recruitment Information
- Job Recruitment Information
"So that's possible?"
Von and Rex were squeezed onto the back of the bicycle, which was speeding down the staircase without any effort. Lin Ye didn't even need to pedal—he only had to steer the bicycle, making it incredibly easy.
Occasionally, strange things would appear on either side of the staircase, but they didn't affect the bicycle at all.
"Good thing this place can only suppress spiritual energy users down to ordinary people, otherwise even with this bicycle, we'd lose our mobility."
After roughly 3,000 steps, Von was suppressed to the level of an ordinary person.
"This place is so high up, we won't fall off, right?"
Rex glanced below and could only see white clouds.
"Don't worry... even if we do fall, it'll be fine."
Lin Ye held the handlebar with one hand. They were already approaching the 5,000th step, but there was still no end to the staircase in sight, as if it went on forever.
"Is there something up there?"Von squinted, looking at the black dot that was growing larger above them.
"Yeah, that thing is on the staircase."
This was the first time they had encountered anything else on the staircase.
"That looks like... a black bug?"
Von said in an uncertain tone.
"Exactly, that's a subterranean mawed worm."
The bicycle didn't slow down, carrying the three of them swiftly toward that step.
Lin Ye looked at the subterranean mawed worm and drew a black pistol.
The bicycle automatically stopped on the step below the worm. Lin Ye didn't make a move, because the worm wasn't attacking them—instead, it sent them a recruitment notice.
It detailed the Abyssal insectoids' stationed location in the Abyss, along with the salary and benefits.
"The benefits are too good, right? I'm actually a little tempted."
Von had also received the recruitment notice. As long as he joined the Abyssal insectoids, they would help him quickly become a Controller and even provide him with a piece of territory.
"If you want, I can offer you the same treatment for free. Although I've never tried transforming a high-level spiritual energy user into an Abyssal insectoid, I can give it a shot."
Lin Ye directly rejected the invitation. He had no desire to turn into a bug.
"Huh? We'd have to be transformed into bugs?"
Von took another look at the recruitment notice, but it didn't specify how they would help him become a Controller.
"No shit, nobody does charity, and bugs definitely don't."
Lin Ye could see the problems in the recruitment notice at a glance.
To be precise, there were problems everywhere.
The subterranean mawed worm moved aside, the bicycle started up, and the three continued moving upward.
Along the way, there were more Abyssal creatures handing out recruitment notices, and even Abyss followers from the Abyss Church recruiting believers.
Lin Ye didn't attack the cultists—they were only distributing notices, and this wasn't a suitable place to fight.
"Is this really the Abyss? It feels completely different from what I imagined."
Von had thought the Abyss would be more dangerous, not a place where people handed out flyers.
"That's because I'm here. Otherwise, you'd have been sent to the Worm Nest long ago and turned into alienated material."
That subterranean mawed worm was very strong. At that height, it could still maintain a certain level of power. If it hadn't run into Lin Ye, it would have swallowed anything that came up in one gulp.
"...I see."
In a place like this, Von couldn't even use mental energy, so he couldn't gauge the worm's strength at all.
"Too bad none of them dare to make a move."
Lin Ye didn't know what would happen if he attacked here, so he wasn't too eager to strike first.
"Wait! Something's coming down from above!"
Rex suddenly spoke up.
A truck was speeding down the staircase, rapidly approaching them.
"Damn, I can only ride a bicycle here, but these people are even more arrogant than me?"
Lin Ye drew his pistol and fired a shot at the bridge.
Bang!
The bullet pierced through the windshield and blew the driver's head apart.
"Impossible!"
The man in the co-driver's seat cried out in shock, but by then Lin Ye had already fired his second shot.
The first shot was just a test. Since the bullets could kill, Lin Ye naturally wasn't going to hold back.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bullets tore through the truck's body, killing the passengers inside. Only one passenger managed to block the bullets and escape from the back of the truck.
"You bastard! We were just passing through, we never intended to hit you! Why did you open fire?!"
It was a woman with a piercing voice, dressed provocatively.
"No reason. I just wanted to kill you all."
Lin Ye rode the bicycle over the top of the truck. He reloaded with one hand and emptied the magazine at the woman.
The woman was strong, but the pistol in Lin Ye's hand wasn't an ordinary one. It was a handgun modified from that Waste Zone relic—the machine parts.
The pistol had only recently been modified and completed, so this was the perfect chance to test it out.
The bullets shredded the woman's body, but she didn't die immediately. She forcibly leaped off the staircase instead.
As the woman plummeted downward, Lin Ye fired a few more shots after her before holstering the pistol and riding back to the truck.
"These people seem to be Abyss followers. How could you tell?"
Von pushed the corpses out of the truck. When the bicycle had lifted off earlier, he had grabbed Rex and jumped onto the truck's roof so as not to interfere with Lin Ye.
"I couldn't tell. But they were clearly about to attack us, so why would I wait for them to make the first move?"
In a place like this, initiative was everything. Lin Ye wasn't going to give the enemy a chance to close the distance.
"This truck seems to drive normally here. Should we take the truck up instead?"
Von tried to turn the truck around on the staircase. The truck was clearly much wider than the staircase, yet it could still drive on it without falling off even while turning.
"Aren't you afraid the Abyss followers packed a few bombs inside that truck?"
Lin Ye kept a bit of distance.
"...They wouldn't, right?"
Von quickly grabbed Rex and jumped off the truck, but behind them, the truck had already turned into a swelling ball of fire.
Lin Ye hopped on the bicycle and sped forward. Von and Rex once again transformed into Spider Men, with several spider legs extending from their flanks, boosting their leaping ability.
The truck's wreckage crashed into the two Spider Men, melting their lower bodies, but their lower halves quickly grew new spider legs and carried them out of the sea of fire.
"Damn, my lower half is gone..."
Von followed behind the bicycle with a grim expression.
Rex, on the other hand, showed no reaction. He hadn't planned on going back alive anyway, so losing his lower body was no big deal.
"Don't worry. Once we get out of here, I'll get you two a better set."
Lin Ye hadn't noticed the bomb in the truck either. He was just being cautious.
