Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator
Chapter 849: The Deepest Point
- The Deepest Point
"It is indeed a bit slow, but it doesn't matter anymore."
Before using his Special Ability, the cult still had a chance to deal with him, but now it was already too late.
As long as Lin Ye could establish a web base in the deep world filled with Deep Well Substance, this Plane would no longer be the cult's territory.
The web base was not the strongest Special Ability, but it was an extremely good fit for Lin Ye.
Lin Ye was naturally skilled at establishing bases, and the growth rate of the web base was also tied to his actions.
In a short amount of time, Lin Ye could establish a Parasitism Network covering the entire world.
Even his research on Deep Well Substance could promote the growth of the web base.
Even if Lin Ye were standing in the cult's position, he wouldn't know how to deal with himself.
"I did it!"
Eve let out an excited voice as she finally opened the passageway leading to the Surface Layer world."...You've worked hard, but sometimes, even when we give it our all, there are things we simply cannot accomplish."
Lin Ye secured the passageway with silk strands. The moment the channel opened, he connected to the Parasitism Network he had left behind in the Surface Layer world.
The Surface Layer world had already been cleaned out by the cult. Those black-robed figures had taken away all the survivors.
"...What do you mean?"
Eve rarely asked such meaningless questions.
"Those black-robed figures took all the survivors. I don't know what the cult plans to do with them, but the odds of those survivors making it out alive are very low."
Lin Ye didn't think the cult would let the survivors go.
"But there's still a chance they survive, isn't there? Please prepare a large amount of Deep Well Substance for me. I want to open a passageway to the deepest point."
Eve didn't give up. Instead, she looked at Lin Ye with complete seriousness.
"Alright. As long as you can open the passageway, leave the rest to me."
Lin Ye paused all his experiments and began deploying the Parasitism Network at full scale. Massive amounts of parasitic organisms infused with Deep Well Substance surged out from the corpses of Deep Well creatures.
Relying on the Brown Powder, Lin Ye completed the modification of the Parasitism Network.
"Hey, shouldn't we develop for a while longer? That place isn't your turf. Going over there now, you might not necessarily have a guaranteed win against them."
Scarlatti shot Eve a speechless look. Originally, they only needed to steamroll through one world after another, and the enemy wouldn't have had any ability to fight back. But now, that was up in the air.
"I told you before, she gets to decide where the passageway leads."
Going to the deepest point of this Plane right now did carry some risk, but Lin Ye wasn't going to go back on his word.
"You're the boss. It's not like I can leave this place anyway."
Scarlatti sat at the entrance of the supermarket, speaking with a helpless tone.
Lin Ye continuously modified the structure of the Parasitism Network, using the corpses of Deep Well creatures to craft new parasitic organisms.
"...I'm opening it now!"
A massive amount of Deep Well Substance merged into Eve's body as she forcibly opened a passageway leading to the deepest point of the Plane.
A torrent of silk strands flooded into the passageway, maintaining its stability.
Different kinds of parasitic organisms passed through the channel, surging into the deepest point of the Plane—the original world itself.
Just then, Lin Ye's body suddenly melted, turning into a puddle of black liquid.
"Lin Ye!"
Eve was completely stunned. She had no idea what had just happened.
Scarlatti retreated into the supermarket, nervously watching the area outside.
A ghostly figure appeared beside the puddle of liquid—a young man with a full head of white hair.
"Died just like that? Was I being too cautious?"
Francis turned to look at Scarlatti, flashing a friendly smile.
"Don't look at me. I'm just here to work."
Scarlatti sat behind the front counter, holding a silver-white pistol in her hand.
"Don't worry, I won't make a move against the cult's business partner. Though I have to admit, I'm feeling a bit bored right now."
Francis entered the supermarket and walked over to the shelves to browse the goods.
"You're the cult's leader?"
Eve walked outside the supermarket and asked through the glass.
"The cult's leader? I'm not one of those freaks. I'm just a very ordinary researcher. If the system hadn't sent him here to deal with me, I wouldn't have killed him either."
Francis picked up a pink lollipop, tore open the wrapper, and popped it into his mouth.
"Then why didn't you kill me?"
Eve drew her pistol and aimed it at Francis's head.
"Haha, kill you? Don't be ridiculous. You're my precious pawn. Why would I ever kill you? You don't actually think all those choices were your own, do you?"
Francis snapped his fingers, and a group of survivors dressed in black robes walked over from the other side of the passageway.
The leader of the black-robed figures crawled into the supermarket on all fours like a dog, his face plastered with a fawning grin as he licked Francis's shoes.
"...They're the black-robed figures? And you're the one who made me open the passageway to the deepest point?"
Eve's whole body trembled, but she didn't lower her pistol.
"Remember those runes? Those were my masterpiece. Too bad you didn't stick around there a little longer.
As for you, you're the only pawn I left in the Surface Layer world. His luck was simply terrible.
Now, put down the weapon."
Francis said with a smile.
"...I refuse!"
Eve pulled the trigger.
Bang!
The bullet pierced through the glass and blew Francis's head apart.
"Huh? You're not an ordinary person either?"
Staring at the headless corpse sprawled on the ground, Scarlatti was completely shocked.
"...No, that's just an ordinary low-tier Spiritual Energy Pistol. That corpse should be a fake."
Eve nervously scanned her surroundings, searching for Francis's location.
"No, he actually seems really dead. And the power of that pistol of yours is off too."
Scarlatti stared at the corpse on the ground, still trying to process what had just happened.
"Impressive. I didn't expect you to actually be able to pull the trigger."
A second Francis appeared on the other side of the passageway. This time, he didn't come over—instead, he drew a pistol and aimed it at Eve.
"Still not coming out? Then I'm going to have to do something to her."
Francis naturally didn't believe Lin Ye was dead. He had just been trying to probe Lin Ye's location.
"Sorry, I went over there to take care of some things."
Lin Ye appeared behind Francis and casually snapped his neck.
Bang!
A third Francis appeared behind Lin Ye. He fired a shot that blew Eve's head apart, and Lin Ye also turned into a puddle of black liquid.
Some ashes flickering with fiery light appeared around Eve, repairing her head.
Lin Ye appeared behind Francis once again. Francis turned around and locked eyes with Lin Ye. This time, neither of them made a move.
"You got away pretty fast. Hope you can run away in advance next time too."
Lin Ye could tell that this Francis in front of him was not the true body, but something similar to a real-life projection. It wasn't actually Francis who had been attacking him just now.
