Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator
Chapter 810: Biological Weapon
- Biological Weapon
"Do you know what this thing is?"
Lin Ye held the glowing weed and returned to the flesh-and-blood courtyard.
"I don't know. It seems to be part of some item."
Little Guardian appeared beside Lin Ye. She could only tell that the glowing weed posed no harm to him.
"Do you know what effect this coffin has? Are we gradually delving deeper into the mental world, or are we moving between different mental regions?"
If they were moving between mental regions, then after completing a loop they could return to that original city. If they were diving deeper into the mental world, or moving randomly through it, that could be troublesome.
"We are diving deeper into the mental world… that's my assessment."
Little Guardian could sense the increase in mental depth, but her understanding of the mental world was limited, so she couldn't make an exact judgment.
"Do you know how to get back? I still need to go to the Port later and take a boat back to the Shelter."
Lin Ye felt that continuing deeper into the mental world would be very dangerous. Even with his Special Ability, it might not be safe."I don't know. I'm not a mental creature. I am a defense system designed to handle mental risks."
Little Guardian specialized only in issues related to her functions.
"Right."
Lin Ye thought for a few seconds, then pushed open the coffin lid and lay down inside.
After closing the coffin, the outside world shifted subtly. Lin Ye pushed the lid open and climbed out.
This time there was no guard in the ruins. Lin Ye left the ruins, and outside lay a vast expanse of ruins.
Everywhere in the ruins were desiccated corpses. In the sky floated creatures that resembled giant mosquitoes. They were everywhere, densely filling the entire sky.
Lin Ye's departure from the ruins alerted the giant mosquitoes above. Several of them, each as tall as a two-story building, flew toward him.
'Why are there such disgusting things? I hope I never find out who made them…'
Lin Ye rarely harbored particular loathing for anything, but mosquitoes were an exception: their disgusting long legs, sharp mouthparts, swollen abdomens, and irritating buzzing made him want to wipe them off the world entirely.
In truth, mosquitoes were a decent template for parasitic organisms, but Lin Ye very much did not want to create such repulsive creatures.
Before those mosquitoes even got close, they were blown into puddles of flesh. Lin Ye no longer felt like crafting any mental constructs.
Although this was the mental world, it was still affected by Rule Fragments.
More giant mosquitoes surged toward Lin Ye. The mosquitoes in the sky underwent flesh-and-blood Alienation and transformed into parasitic fat pigs with wings.
The parasitic fat pigs did not attack the giant mosquitoes. They simply sprawled in the sky, letting those giant mosquitoes suck blood from them.
Lin Ye rarely deployed the Parasitism Network in the mental world. Unlike the real world, his control over the network here was weak.
In the real world, even if the Parasitism Network expanded to an entire planet, it would not slip from his control. In the mental world it was different.
Right now he was like a truck driving on a tightrope, always at risk of losing balance.
Still, Lin Ye did not intend to forcibly control the Parasitism Network. Even if it slipped from his control, the runaway parasitic organisms would not attack him until they developed to a certain point.
Lin Ye let the Parasitism Network expand outward. This place should be what Number 101 Ocean Creatures referred to.
'Ruins, top of the Tower… got it.'
Lin Ye rode a flying fat pig and headed toward the top of a distant Tower. The nearby giant mosquitoes were cleared away by the Parasitism Network.
At the top of the Tower, Lin Ye found a bottle of clear liquid. There was some kind of connection between this liquid and the glowing weed.
He stuck the glowing weed into the bottle. A pink bud sprouted at the tip of the weed, but the flower did not bloom, as if something was still missing.
"Huh, there's that stuff here too? I thought I'd already scavenged everything."
A gaunt old man, Old Man, appeared not far from Lin Ye. He stared at the bottle in Lin Ye's hands, a hint of greed flashing in his eyes.
"Tell me—did you make those giant mosquitoes?"
Lin Ye had no intention of wasting time here. Otherwise he would find the creator of the giant mosquitoes and let them know the consequences of creating such things.
"You mean those creatures? They were procured by Logistics as biological weapons."
Old Man stared at Lin Ye. He did not rush in. If he could buy a little time, the main force could encircle the area.
"Can you tell me where they were purchased? Preferably give me the name of the creator."
Lin Ye had already dealt with the soldiers who had stepped into the Parasitism Network. Those soldiers seemed to be carrying a very interesting weapon.
Old Man on the opposite side was not easy to handle. If he moved directly, Lin Ye would have to respond seriously, but that was unnecessary now.
The other side should not have been lingering inside the Parasitism Network for this long.
"What did you do?!"
Old Man finally noticed the abnormal state of those soldiers.
"You're impressive. I originally intended to use you to test the power of your weapon, but the operation was a bit cumbersome. I haven't fully figured it out yet."
Lin Ye rode the flying fat pig toward the flesh-and-blood vortex.
"You're asking for death! Ohohohohoho…"
Old Man was about to rush at Lin Ye when tens of thousands of eggs buried inside his body began to hatch. Tens of thousands of parasitic mosquitoes poured out of him.
The Parasitism Network was more active in the mental world than in the real world. Combined with Little Guardian's influence and Lin Ye's concealment techniques, Old Man had not noticed the changes inside his body at all.
A troop of soldiers stood near the flesh-and-blood vortex. They carried an Instrument capable of destroying mental structures.
This Instrument had no effect in the real world, but here in the mental world—even Lin Ye's current body was composed of mental energy.
'The structure is quite complex.'
Lin Ye studied the Instrument's structure carefully. Setting up such an Instrument required many hands and a period of preparation to be able to damage mental constructs within a certain range.
"This is a weapon that disrupts mental structure by affecting mental waves. However, if the mental structure is stable enough, this weapon cannot take effect."
As a mental defense system, Little Guardian quickly understood the Instrument's principle and effect.
"This thing has a hard time affecting the strong, but it can be used to clear weaker beings from an area."
Lin Ye dismantled those Instruments down to basic components and studied the techniques embedded within.
He had little interest in the Instrument itself, but it represented a valuable attack method and was worth researching.
If he could apply this technique to parasitic organisms, strengthen the frequency of mental wave fluctuations, and then produce resonance through the Parasitism Network, he could threaten some powerful individuals.
