Siska immediately ran toward Rangga.

“Sir!”

Rangga turned toward her.

“They’re injured. Do you have any medicine?”

Rangga immediately looked toward his three companions.

Blood was still running from Fajar’s arm from the arrow wound. Andre was clutching his thigh, while Rian lay on the ground, pressing down on the wound in his abdomen.

Rangga’s expression changed.

“Bring them here.”

He quickly opened his inventory and took out several medical supplies.

“This stops bleeding. This is antiseptic. And antibiotics.”

Rangga handed everything to Siska.

“Treat them first. Rian’s the worst.”

Siska quickly nodded.

“Yes, Sir.”

Rangga then stood up. He turned toward the strange group. His hand moved to grab his bow. He nocked an arrow and slowly drew the bowstring back until it was fully taut.

Krek.

The arrowhead pointed directly at the man who had previously held a spear to Fajar’s neck.

“What did you do to my friend?”

The atmosphere immediately changed.

The group took several steps back. One of them even raised both hands.

“Wait! This is a misunderstanding!”

A mechanical growl came from Rangga’s side.

GRRRRNNNNGHHH...

The Hererasaurus lowered its body. Its metal claws dug into the ground. Its head lowered, mechanical eyes locked onto the group. A low growl rumbled from its throat.

The strangers grew even more panicked.

“Don’t! We didn’t mean to!”

One of them dropped his spear.

CLANG!

The others followed suit, releasing their weapons and raising both hands.

“It was just a misunderstanding!”

Behind Rangga, Siska was pulling the arrow out of Rian’s body. Rian grimaced through the pain. Siska immediately pressed the bleeding-stopper medicine against his wound.

“They’re lying, Sir!”

Rangga slightly turned his head, and Siska pointed at the group.

“They shot first! Then they tried to rob us!”

Rangga looked back at the group, the bowstring still fully drawn.

“What kind of misunderstanding is that?”

His tone was much colder now.

“Can’t you see what you did to my friend?”

No one answered.

Rangga shifted the direction of his bow slightly, making sure the entire group was within his range. The Hererasaurus beside him growled again.

One of the group members began trembling, then, without warning, turned around and ran.

“HEY!”

Rangga instinctively shouted.

“Where the hell do you think you’re going?!”

The Hererasaurus immediately moved.

THUD!

Its mechanical body shot forward. Within seconds, it had caught up with the fleeing man.

“AAAA—!”

The Hererasaurus’s metal claws struck his body.

CRACK!

The claws pierced directly into his chest, lifting the man off the ground for a moment. His eyes widened before his body went limp.

The Hererasaurus dropped him to the ground, and the body no longer moved.

Silence and not a single person spoke.

Fajar froze. Andre, still sitting on the ground, stared with his eyes wide open. Siska stopped treating Rian. Even the group that had been threatening them moments ago had completely lost their courage.

Rangga himself was still standing with his bow in his hand. He stared at the Pioneer who had just died before his eyes.

His expression changed.

“...Dead?”

For the first time since taking control of the Hererasaurus, Rangga had witnessed firsthand how the mechanical creature could kill a Pioneer.

His hand slowly lowered the bow as he stared at the Hererasaurus. The creature stood motionless, still facing the body lying on the ground.

Rangga said nothing.

Just a few seconds ago, he had come to save his friends. Now, one person was dead right in front of him. The group’s leader finally lost his nerve. He dropped to his knees.

“Please, don’t hurt us!”

The people behind him exchanged glances, then knelt as well and raised their hands.

“Please! We surrender!”

Rangga remained standing with his bow in hand. He looked at them one by one.

“Who are you guys?”

The man at the front swallowed.

“We... are from the Bald Eagle Nation.”

Rangga frowned slightly.

“Not all of us are originally from the Bald Eagle Nation,” the man quickly continued. “We were naturalized. I myself am from the Shiva Nation.”

He lowered his head.

“My name is Arjun.”

Rangga remained silent, and Arjun took a deep breath before continuing.

“We were ordered to disrupt the development of the Garuda Pioneers.”

Fajar, who heard that, immediately looked at them.

“Disrupt?”

Arjun nodded.

“We were ordered to take resources from you whenever we had the opportunity.”

Rangga furrowed his brow beneath his helmet.

“What does that have to do with your country and me?”

He lowered his bow slightly.

“I’ve never messed with your country’s Pioneers.”

Arjun was unable to answer, and Rangga continued staring at him in confusion. Suddenly, Andre’s voice came from behind.

“Bang!”

Rangga turned around, and Andre was still sitting there while clutching his thigh.

“Do you remember that guy on Swamp Island?”

Rangga frowned.

“Which one?”

“The one I accidentally shot.”

Rangga fell silent for a few moments. Then his expression changed as if he had just remembered something.

“Oh.”

He pointed at Andre.

“Yeah.”

Rangga gave a small nod.

“I forgot.”

Andre just stared at him.

“Are you guys trying to get revenge for that?”

Rangga turned back toward Arjun’s group.

“Don’t tell me that’s what this is about?”

Arjun and the other members exchanged glances. None of them answered immediately.

Rangga noticed the change in their expressions.

“Why are you guys quiet?”

Arjun finally shook his head.

“It’s not like that.”

“Then what?”

“We didn’t even know which Bald Eagle Pioneer you were talking about.”

Rangga fell silent, and Arjun continued carefully.

“We were simply given orders. We were told that Garuda was developing too quickly and had to be slowed down.”

One of the group members nodded.

“We were never given a specific target.”

Rangga stared at them for a while. So they really hadn’t come because of some personal grudge. They had been sent here.

Rangga briefly glanced at Fajar, Andre, Rian, and Siska, who were still injured. Then his gaze returned to the group kneeling before him.

“So you were just following orders.”

Arjun nodded.

“Yes.”

Rangga let out a short sigh.

“The problem is...”

He glanced at the Hererasaurus beside him.

“...my friends are already hurt because of you.”

Not a single one of them dared to answer.
