Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress
Chapter 279 - 155: Like Children
While the Frenzied Skeleton was off picking up its skull, the Dark Skeleton quickly gathered its own ribs, snapped them back into place, and stood obediently before Li Ziyu.
The Frenzied Skeleton also reattached its skull, then turned to glare at the Dark Skeleton, ready to pounce again in a rage.
"Stop! Stay right there! Don’t move!" Li Ziyu commanded, pointing at the Frenzied Skeleton.
As if they were playing a game of Statues, the Frenzied Skeleton’s body instantly froze. It remained balanced on one leg, staring daggers at the Dark Skeleton, but it truly did not move.
The Dark Skeleton’s Soul Fire slowly drifted. Upon seeing the Frenzied Skeleton’s pose, it began to flicker wildly. Though it couldn’t make a sound, even Zhang Peng and Liu Xingxing, watching from the side, could see the clear mockery and provocation in its flickering Soul Fire.
SMACK!
Li Ziyu smacked the Dark Skeleton on its skull, forcing it to look away.
"Why are you such a little troublemaker? Don’t play innocent after getting the upper hand," Li Ziyu chided, exasperated.
The Dark Skeleton hastily lowered its head, putting on a pitiful, aggrieved expression. Meanwhile, the Soul Fire of the frozen Frenzied Skeleton began to flicker wildly, radiating excitement and glee at the other’s misfortune.
Li Ziyu rubbed his temples. The Dark Skeleton was certainly intelligent, but the creature was like a restless child, always looking to cause trouble. This was especially true after the Frenzied Skeleton showed up; it provoked the other Skeleton constantly, and fights would break out every few days.
"Frenzied Skeleton, come here," Li Ziyu said, beckoning to it.
The Frenzied Skeleton, no longer frozen, immediately scampered over, its Soul Fire shooting a defiant glance at the Dark Skeleton.
"Alright, that’s enough from you, too," Li Ziyu sighed. ’This one really is a blockhead, just like the Dark Skeleton said.’
Every time the Dark Skeleton provoked it, it would retaliate. Without fail. It was always the first one to attack. Without fail.
Watching from the sidelines, Zhang Peng and Liu Xingxing couldn’t help but be amused. These weren’t two Undead; they were clearly a pair of naughty kids who just happened to be terrifyingly scary.
"I’m planning to send you into the passage. Are you confident you can lead the Alien Undead and take out those Demonized Creatures?" Li Ziyu asked, looking at the Frenzied Skeleton.
’Since it’s a member of the ever-growing Alien Undead Royal Family, and its loyalty is high, there’s no need for me to keep it benched. Raising its power is what truly matters. It’ll be far more useful later on.’
He planned to use this opportunity to let the Frenzied Skeleton get some practical experience.
The Frenzied Skeleton froze for a moment, then began nodding its head vigorously. A chance to fight! It instantly grew animated.
Its path to advancement was inextricably linked to combat. The more it fought, the faster its Frenzy Rune would develop, and the easier it would be for it to grow powerful. In fact, the more it battled, the stronger it became.
It had been itching for a fight for a long time, but without an order from Li Ziyu, it wouldn’t dare make a move.
"Master, let me go instead! The Frenzied Skeleton isn’t just a blockhead, it’s a fool. Most importantly, it loses control easily," the Dark Skeleton chimed in anxiously. It was also desperate for a fight. Besides, it was the veteran here. How could a newcomer like the Frenzied Skeleton be sent to the battlefield instead of it? That just wouldn’t do.
The Frenzied Skeleton turned its head toward the Dark Skeleton. Seeing that its rival’s attention was entirely on Li Ziyu, it launched a sucker punch, landing it squarely on the Dark Skeleton’s head.
And just like that, the two members of the Alien Undead Royal Family were brawling again.
’Hmm, so the Dark Skeleton says the Frenzied Skeleton loses control easily?’
’And what about him? Acting like he has to stir up trouble for no reason... doesn’t *he* lose control easily?’
’You could at least *try* to be a little more convincing!’
Li Ziyu sighed, looking to the heavens. ’The kids are all grown up. I can’t control them anymore.’
After finally prying the two members of the Alien Undead Royal Family apart, Li Ziyu rapped his knuckles on both of their skulls.
"You both want to go, is that it? Fine, you’re both going! I only have one requirement: keep the other Alien Undead in line, bring me back more corpses of the Demonized Creatures, and don’t cause any chaos. Most importantly, make sure you don’t kill any of our own! Now, get out of here!"
After Li Ziyu’s tirade, he waved his hand dismissively. The two Skeletons immediately bolted, as if afraid of being a second too slow.
