Chapter 3337: Treatment
Chapter 3337: Treatment
Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
Two hours later.
At the Netherworld teleportation passage within the church, beams of reverse teleportation light lit up.
"Quick! Emergency treatment! We need immediate healing!"
The team captain returned to the church with his squad, shouting anxiously as everyone gathered around an injured team member.
"Someone’s hurt! Send him to the medical area immediately!"
Several guardian priests hurried forward to check the injured person’s condition, releasing holy-element healing spells to stabilize his injuries.
"It’s Netherworld aura invading the body. The invasion runs deep and can’t be removed in a short time. Take him to the treatment area!"
The high-tier priest frowned deeply, signaling the guards to carry the injured away for medical care.
After the initial panic, the team finally relaxed a little when they saw their comrade being taken for treatment and temporarily out of danger.
Then, a wave of indescribable anger rose in their hearts.
D*mn it! They were tricked by the temple!
Mercenaries lived by licking blood off the blade. If their lack of strength had caused injuries or even casualties, they wouldn’t have been this angry.
But this mission couldn’t possibly be handled with just two hundred thousand points!
The creatures they encountered outside the temple weren’t ordinary Underworld Hunters at all!
Each Underworld Hunter possessed at least the strength of an elite-level Netherworld creature!
Their team of seven, all around Tier 6–7 in strength, had even mentally prepared beforehand—yet they were still beaten senseless by those Netherworld creatures.
Even a Tier 8 soul warrior spirit couldn’t withstand the sudden assault of an Underworld Hunter!
Thinking back now, they all felt a chill of lingering fear.
They were alive only because of sheer luck!
Not only did they fail to earn the two hundred thousand mission reward, but they also lost several high-tier soul warrior spirits—and now even their teammate was down.
The more they thought about it, the angrier they became.
"Let’s go! We’re going to the church to demand an explanation!"
Instructor Caleb had been drinking tea in his office. When he heard that people were causing trouble, he was stunned. After finding out what had happened, to calm them down and prevent them from reporting to the city church, he reluctantly paid them five hundred thousand points to send them away.
Then, gritting his teeth, he raised the compensation to five million.
And then—
Two hours later, another team that had just completed a newly assigned mission came knocking on his office door to complain again.
Caleb’s face turned dark as he sent out a group of Tier 8 oracles.
After several rounds, the problem still wasn’t solved, and he had already spent more than a million points.
"Instructor," Seth said, "The Underworld Hunters are extremely strong. I’m afraid we can’t handle them. Should we raise the reward further, or...?"
"We’ve done all we can. You don’t need to worry about it anymore. I’ll report the matter to the church myself."
"There’s one more thing, Instructor."
"What is it?"
"Adam came again. He heard we were having trouble in this area and said he’s still willing to take over the plot. He’s offering thirty million points."
Caleb fell silent.
Thirty million?
Should he sell or not?
No—he needed to raise the price!
After some thought, greed overtook him, "Tell him the land is important to us—it’s not for sale."
"Yes."
...
In the Netherworld.
After hearing Instructor Caleb’s reply, Fang Heng curled his lips.
Just as expected.
Zane wanted to laugh. Offending Fang Heng—Caleb and his people wouldn’t even know how they died.
"Brother Fang Heng," Zane said, "Augustine just sent word too. That old fox Caleb is planning to report to the city church. The next wave will be people from the city church. What’s the plan?"
"What’s the plan?" Fang Heng shrugged casually. "Nothing. Naturally, we don’t do anything."
"Let’s go—find another spot."
As Fang Heng spoke, he transformed into bat form and quickly flew toward another B-level temple in Caleb’s territory.
Not long after the two left—
The city church’s Tier 10 oracle, Herr, descended into the Netherworld with a group.
The city’s main church took Caleb’s report very seriously and sent a twenty-man team, including two Tier 10 oracles and five Tier 9 oracles—one of the strongest lineups the city church could field.
Herr summoned his soul warrior spirits to guard the area as he observed the temple ahead.
The death knights patrolling the temple’s periphery immediately noticed them.
"Be careful of the Underworld Hunters lurking nearby! Intelligence reports say their strength is close to commander-level Netherworld creatures. I’ll lure them out. Follow me—move out!"
Brave and battle-hardened, Herr personally acted as bait. He charged forward, leading the assault toward the death knight squad outside the temple.
The death knights, provoked, let out fierce neighs, activating their Charge Skills as they rushed toward Herr.
"Hmph! Courting death!!"
Herr snorted coldly as a circle of dark golden light suddenly bloomed beneath his feet.
A thick ring of holy light expanded outward. The death knights froze mid-charge as their skill was instantly interrupted.
Behind him, the soul warrior spirits surged forward, clashing fiercely with the death knights.
Standing at the center of his soul warrior spirits, Herr released his perception, focusing most of his attention on his surroundings, wary of ambushes.
There!
Sensing an Underworld Hunter emerging from the shadow of death behind him, Herr reacted instantly, swinging his long sword in advance.
"Boom!!"
The Underworld Hunter, just as it revealed itself from the shadows, was struck by the blow and sent flying.
Team oracles quickly followed up, casting holy spells to annihilate the half-crippled Underworld Hunter.
The strength gap between the two sides was obvious.
There were only five death knights, far too few to withstand the assault from numerous Tier 12 soul warrior spirits. The few shadow hunters that appeared were also swiftly wiped out by the well-prepared oracles.
The battle quickly turned one-sided.
Within moments, the death knights and shadow hunters were all eliminated.
"Sir Herr, everything’s been handled."
"Mm."
Strange.
Herr looked at the now-quiet battlefield and felt something was off.
The death knights and shadow hunters were troublesome, yes—but not difficult to deal with.
Even a team of Tier 6 Oracles could have handled them carefully.
And they needed to call for reinforcements from the city church for this?
Herr shook his head.
The people in those branch churches were getting worse and worse.
And he was foolish enough to believe them, wasting time and effort gathering so many people for nothing.
A waste!
Thinking this, Herr felt even more disdain.
Another oracle walked up to Herr and whispered, "Sir Herr, we checked. The stone tablet seal had no major issue—it was simply aging. I’ve re-established the seal."
"Good. Tell Caleb the issue’s been resolved. We’re leaving."
"Yes, Sir."
Meanwhile, Fang Heng and Zane had arrived at another B-level temple within Caleb’s territory.
A temple whose periphery was occupied by Netherworld liches.
From afar, Fang Heng aimed at the sealing stone tablet inside the temple and raised his hand.
The aura of death from the Netherworld surged violently, rushing toward the stone tablet within the temple. After several minutes, it corroded the chains of the seal on the stone tablet.
"Done."
Fang Heng withdrew his hand and hid to the side with Zane.
