Chapter 3310: Entanglement
Chapter 3310: Entanglement

The Netherworld.
Twelve hours had passed.
Outside the temple, everything was calm and quiet.
Since Fang Heng had killed a spirit construct, he had been staying outside the temple, waiting for the next move from the God Clan.
Hollan and the other three instructors had exhausted too much of their mental strength and could no longer remain. After discussing it with Fang Heng, they decided to leave first.
Zane gradually lost his patience and couldn’t help saying, "Brother Fang, it’s been so long without any movement. Looks like they’re not coming."
"That’s good news in a way. The enemy might not care much about losing one spiritual construct, or they might just consider such losses normal."
Zane said, "Why don’t we try luring another one out to see?"
"If problems keep happening at the same temple, it might raise suspicion..." Fang Heng looked up and asked, "Zane, how far can your ability spread?"
The power of the Evil God’s form was very different from the cultivation system used by humans. Back then, Zane could turn into a shadow and, in just over ten minutes, had searched the entire headquarters planet of his spawn.
"You want to find another temple, right? No problem. It’s difficult to spread my shadow far here, but if you just want me to sweep through a region, that’s doable." Zane patted his chest, then turned into a mass of shadow that spread out in all directions.
"Brother Fang, wait for my good news."
Fang Heng waited for more than ten minutes before a mass of black fog condensed beside him again.
Zane gave Fang Heng a thumbs-up and said, "Found it. Come with me."
"Alright."
Fang Heng leapt lightly onto the back of a death knight’s horse and followed Zane, who was riding another death knight, galloping across the black wasteland.
Moments later, the two stopped in front of a temple.
Outside the temple, a sparse group of evil spirit skeletal creatures was gathered.
Fang Heng narrowed his eyes slightly.
The temple was about the same size as the previous one.
Not bad, perfect for drawing another wave of the God Clan.
"I’ll go break the seal. You stay outside and wait for me."
"Wait." Zane suddenly stopped Fang Heng, touched his chin, and revealed a mischievous grin. "Brother Fang, I just thought of a good idea. Something better than just killing that guy outright."
"Oh? Let’s hear it."
...
The Holy Eagle Nation.
Adam looked weary and dejected.
Yesterday, he had already reported the entire incident to the temple’s church, and the temple priest had dutifully recorded it according to what he said. But...
It was useless.
After that, there was no follow-up.
As for compensation, that was out of the question.
From the impatient look on the priest’s face while recording, Adam had already given up hope.
Normally, Netherworld creatures did not actively attack soul warrior spirits, though accidents sometimes happened.
The temple would most likely think that it was just an accident.
The Netherworld had remained extremely stable since their ancestors’ time — even his great-grandfather, and his great-grandfather’s great-grandfather — generation after generation, the Netherworld had always been stable.
How could there possibly be a problem?
Adam guessed that his report had probably only been filed away for record-keeping, and the instructor in charge of the temple certainly wouldn’t take it seriously.
Sending someone to investigate was out of the question.
"Adam."
As soon as Adam entered the temple, someone called out to him. He turned and, upon seeing who it was, quickly bowed respectfully.
"Instructor John."
John was a Tier 3 oracle and the supervisor in charge of Adam and the other trainees.
"Good, you’re here. One of the temple’s small sanctuaries has shown an anomaly in its seal. It seems like it’s due to long-term disrepair. Go check it out and resolve the alert before noon."
Adam was stunned.
Huh? Another problem?
He had connections with more than ten churches and temples in the city. Normally, seal failures at temples happened once every two or three months, but now it had happened two days in a row?
"What’s wrong?"
Adam felt a bit nervous and shook his head, "Nothing."
Yesterday’s incident was at Church No. 17; today, it was Church No. 28.
The temples under the two churches were different.
There shouldn’t be any problem.
Just a coincidence!
Most importantly, he was short on money now.
Losing one soul warrior spirit had caused his strength to drop significantly. He needed to find a way to get a replacement as soon as possible!
"Instructor, I understand. I’ll finish it quickly."
"Good. I’ll count on you, then."
John patted Adam’s shoulder in encouragement before leaving in a hurry.
Adam took a deep breath, a hint of bitterness at the corners of his mouth.
Time to do it again!
Ten minutes later, Adam completed the registration at the record office and once again entered the descent passage of the Netherworld summoning array.
As he slowly infused his mental strength into the magic array beneath his feet, a dark golden holy light enveloped him and his accompanying soul warrior spirits before they disappeared completely.
Entering the Netherworld.
When Adam opened his eyes again, he quickly surveyed his surroundings.
In front of him stood a temple.
The Holy Light armor he wore caused the skeletal creatures gathered in front of the temple to instinctively back away.
Perhaps because of the previous day’s incident, Adam felt a lingering sense of unease, as though his every move was being watched by something.
An illusion. It must be an illusion.
Don’t overthink it. Just finish the mission quickly!
There was nothing scarier than being short on money.
Adam glanced at the soul warrior spirits following beside him, steadied his mind, and strode quickly toward the temple interior.
The sealing chains on the central stone tablet of the temple had already fallen off.
Adam crouched down and examined it quickly.
Nothing unusual, it was probably caused by long-term erosion from the aura of death.
With his current ability, he could only make basic repairs to ensure it wouldn’t fail again for another ten years or so.
Adam commanded the soul warrior spirits to guard his side while he quickly condensed a hand imprint before him to reseal the stone tablet.
Dark golden light gradually condensed on the stone surface.
Adam didn’t notice that while he was focusing his attention on forming the imprint, a faint shadow rose silently from beneath the ground and slowly drifted toward him, attaching itself to his body.
"Hiss!"
Adam suddenly felt a cold chill spread across his body. He gasped sharply and turned his head quickly.
What was that?!
Huh? Nothing there!
Was it an illusion?
Adam looked around cautiously again, clenched his teeth, and turned back to continue reconstructing the seal.
After spending more than ten minutes nervously repairing the seal, Adam hurriedly stood up, left the temple, and began the reverse summoning ritual to return to the main temple with his accompanying soul warrior spirits.
Feeling the warmth of the holy light surrounding him, Adam let out a long sigh of relief.
Huh? What was going on? He hadn’t returned yet?
The reverse summoning seemed slower than usual today.
It felt like it was stuck somewhere in the process.
Adam’s heart sank again.
He didn’t notice that the small patch of shadow clinging to his back emitted faint sizzling sounds under the radiance of the holy light.
"Whoosh!"
A faint holy glow seeped out from within the shadow, shielding and enveloping it at the center.
The reverse Descent ritual began functioning again.
It was restored!
Adam finally relaxed and followed the ritual’s flow, returning to the temple through the reverse Descent.
