The elders of the elves changed their expressions immediately upon seeing this.
They had originally thought that with the power of the ancient Tree of Life, even if they couldn’t completely defeat the enemy, they could at least hold out until reinforcements from the Spawn Alliance arrived.
They hadn’t expected it to fail so quickly.
The elders exchanged glances.
Something was wrong.
The decline of the ancient Tree of Life to this extent was definitely not caused solely by the mutant worm swarm’s attacks.
"Where is Deborah? Send someone to ask immediately!"
The Elven king had just ordered his subordinates to investigate when two guards hurried over and quickly recounted what had just happened in the Prayer Temple.
Upon hearing this, the senior elves’ faces changed slightly.
Premonitions on the stone wall?
Seeds? New replacing old?
Was all this change to the ancient Tree of Life caused by the third prince?
The Elven king furrowed his brows tightly, his expression shifting multiple times.
Just as he was about to issue orders, suddenly, another disturbance came from behind.
Everyone turned to look.
What was this?
From the cracked ground, dark red vines shot out.
The vines rapidly overflowed from behind, spreading toward the frontline battlefield.
The elves showed expressions of shock.
It was not only the color, but the aura!
The aura released by the vines was completely different from the vines that had protected the elves through generations.
They were definitely not the same kind.
Could this be the so-called new ancient Tree of Life?
...
At the Prayer Temple.
The second prince Lucio arrived with Elder Deborah and others, their presence imposing.
However, upon reaching the temple entrance and seeing the scene, they stopped, faces varying in expression.
New branches and leaves continuously extended from the pale green sapling in the magic array’s center.
Tiny spots of dark red light gradually formed a protective barrier outside, enveloping the entire temple.
Massive dark red vines rapidly grew along the sapling, climbing and spreading beyond the Great Hall and piercing into the ground.
"That is..."
Lucio’s eyes carried some suspicion.
Elder Deborah’s face also darkened with gravity.
Was this the new generation Tree of Life described in the premonition on the stone wall?
The newly grown vine roots from the magic array appeared dark red and had dense barbs.
At first glance, their power was very similar to the elves’ Tree of Life.
But careful perception revealed a forcibly restrained restlessness within its strength.
The aura was filled with various negative energies.
If this really was the new Tree of Life from the premonition, why did its power make people feel so uneasy?
Elder Deborah nodded lightly, signaling everyone to follow her into the Great Hall.
"Your Highness, second prince."
Inside the Great Hall, the priests respectfully bowed.
"Second brother."
The third prince Neo saw Lucio arrive with a group and nodded, a hint of pride in his eyes.
"You came just in time. We have already cultivated the new Tree of Life according to the premonition on the stone wall."
Lucien stared at the new sapling, frowning, then looked at Elder Deborah.
Deborah said gravely, "Your Highness, third prince, please stop the new seed from absorbing the Tree of Life’s power."
Neo’s face immediately turned cold as he looked at Deborah and asked, "Why?"
"Your Highness, the energy absorption speed of the new seed is too fast, greatly affecting the Tree of Life. The elves are currently fighting the mutant worms, and the outer defensive barrier has already been impacted. If this continues, the mutant worms might break through the Tree of Life’s protective barrier."
Deborah continued calmly, "Moreover, the new seed’s power reveals a suppressed restlessness, making me feel very uneasy. We must be extremely cautious and conduct a thorough inspection."
"Elder Deborah, I understand, but I don’t think any more checks are necessary."
Neo’s gaze swept over the second prince’s face and mentally labeled Deborah as part of Lucio’s faction, thinking they were only trying to prevent him from saving the elves in a bid for the throne.
"My father ordered me to follow the premonitions on the stone wall to find the goddess and save the elves. I have completed the last step and am now rescuing our future. If you have complaints, go tell the king yourself."
As he spoke, the small sapling in the magic array’s center grew taller, and more vine roots spread along the magic array, climbing the Great Hall.
More and more roots pierced the ground.
"Third brother, be sensible. The enemy is near. Don’t act rashly."
Lucien pretended to advise, glancing at his bodyguards.
The bodyguards noticed Lucio’s signal and quietly moved behind Neo, preparing to seize him.
"What are you doing?"
Neo spun around sharply, glaring coldly at the approaching elves.
"Anyone who dares come closer will suffer the consequences!"
"Your Highness, you are blinded by the crisis," Elder Deborah shook her head and gestured for everyone to lower their weapons.
"Pause the magic array’s operation. Let us inspect carefully before deciding."
Elder Deborah had great seniority and was responsible for tending the Tree of Life, commanding great respect among the elves. The guards and priests in the Great Hall looked at each other and stood with the second prince and Elder Deborah.
"Hahaha! Good! Good!"
Neo, seeing that the premonition was nearly fulfilled and he was about to save the elves, but was being thwarted by his second brother, became extremely angry.
He laughed loudly, eyes blazing with fury.
"Remember this! If you ruin the premonition and delay the cultivation of the new Tree of Life, the entire elves will perish because of you. Every one of you here is guilty of death! I swear by the Elven king’s bloodline that I will not spare a single one!"
The guards were about to stop the magic array, but they hesitated after hearing Neo’s words.
This was a burden too great for them to bear.
"Hmph! I’ll do it!"
Lucien snorted coldly and stepped forward to stop the magic array.
Chi! Chi chi chi!
Suddenly, the brown vines in the magic array acted first and launched a counterattack, rapidly lunging toward the second prince!
What?
Lucien’s pupils suddenly contracted.
Though already seriously injured and seeing the vine attack, he could not dodge in time.
Boom!
The vines whipped through the air with a sonic boom and slammed heavily into Lucien’s shoulder, throwing him backward with great force.
Abe Akaya’s fierce side appeared as the blood-colored vines overflowing from the magic array waved wildly in the air, exuding a bloodthirsty aura, as if issuing a warning.
"Hahaha! Good! Well done, Tree of Life!"
The third prince Neo’s eyes lit up, shouting, "Don’t let them approach you! Don’t let them threaten the elves’ future!"
