Chapter 2731: Stone

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Dark corrosive orbs spilled out from the Book of the Dead, continuously rushing toward the rock golem ahead.

“Thud! Thud!!”

The rock golem was struck by the corrosive orbs, and black holes began to form all over its body as it was gradually corroded away.

Captain Regan of the Shadow Alliance immediately noticed something strange about Fang Heng and the others, glancing over at them out of the corner of his eye.

The guy wore a mask, concealing his face, but he gave off a very young vibe.

Among them, the corrosive orbs he released were exceptionally powerful. One shot was enough to tear a large hole the size of a bowl in the rock golem, which had decent magical defense.

The battle lasted for five minutes, and with everyone’s cooperation, they managed to clear the rock creature.

“Thank you all for your help,” Regan said, stepping forward to express his gratitude. “Otherwise, we wouldn’t have gotten away so easily. We’ve been encountering many rock creatures in the grotto lately. It seems the Elemental Clan has joined in guarding the cave.”

Tang Chuji whispered to Fang Heng, explaining, “The Holy Court and the Elemental Clan have close ties; they’re allies.”

Regan turned to Fang Heng and his group and asked, “Are you all scholars of the undead faction?”

“That’s right,” Ji Xiaobo replied. “We’ve always had a bad relationship with the Holy Court. They’ve caused us a lot of trouble, so when we heard the Shadow Alliance was going to take on the Holy Court, we decided to check it out.”

“The Holy Court has been committing evil for a long time, oppressing us as they please. This time, it’s their turn to face their retribution.”

Ji Xiaobo nodded in agreement, “We only arrived here not long ago. When did you guys get here? Have you found anything?”

“We just arrived as well,” Regan said. “We wandered around the cave for a while but couldn’t find a breakthrough. Then we ran into the rock golem’s ambush. Fortunately, you helped, or we’d still be in trouble dealing with them.”

As they were talking, Fang Heng looked around the cave and slowly walked toward a corner at the back, alone.

Though faint, he still felt it.

The ripple of holy power!

Fang Heng walked toward the source of the ripple of holy power and crouched down to carefully observe.

Regan noticed Fang Heng’s actions and approached, asking, “Brother, have you found something?”

“Mm, something strange.”

Fang Heng said as he reached down and wiped away the dust on the ground, revealing an alchemy pattern beneath.

“Eh?”

Everyone gathered around when they saw the alchemy pattern.

“It looks like an alchemy magic array.”

Fang Heng tried to channel his mental strength into it.

No effect.

Moreover, the alchemy magic array emitted a resistance force.

Fang Heng immediately switched to his sacred form and infused his mental strength, now with a holy attribute.

Buzz…

The next moment, the magic array emitted a faint holy light.

The mechanisms within the array slowly began to move, and a stone slab in the ground began to rotate downward, revealing a stone, about the size of an egg, that appeared on the stone slab.

“A stone?”

Fang Heng picked up the palm-sized stone and weighed it in his hand.

The stone was smooth on the surface, with no patterns, and other than emitting a faint holy ripple, there was nothing particularly unusual about it.

A game prompt immediately appeared on his retina.

[Hint: The player has discovered item-Trial participant’s stone.]

[Item: Trial participant’s stone.]

Description: A round stone that emits a faint holy attribute light.

Description: Special item, drops upon death.

“Holy Court trial…”

Fang Heng murmured softly to himself.

When he arrived, Old Black had mentioned that this place was once a trial ground left by the Holy Court’s Mist Temple.

What was strange, though, was that the stone had no other attribute description, and it didn’t trigger any related missions either.

Regan, seeing Fang Heng’s expression, thought he had discovered something and asked, “Brother, what’s this stone?”

“I’m not sure. I suspect it might be related to the Holy Court’s trial, but I don’t know its purpose yet.”

“Do you mind if I take a look?”

Fang Heng glanced at Regan, then handed over the stone.

Regan inspected it briefly and, without hesitation, pocketed it. “Interesting. I’ll keep it and study it later.”

Ji Xiaobo was taken aback and said, “Hey, Brother, isn’t that a bit underhanded?”

“Underhanded?”

“Just let me hold onto it,” Fang Heng extended his hand toward Regan and continued, “The stone has a holy attribute. It’s useless to you.”

Useless?

Then why are you so eager to keep it?

Regan stared at Fang Heng, clearly not believing him. A shadow flickered in his eyes, carrying a hint of threat, “It’s fine, we have more people. The item will be safer in our hands.”

“Oh? Is that so?” Fang Heng glanced at Regan. “What if I’m not satisfied?”

“Not satisfied? Then go and die!”

Regan’s expression changed instantly.

The Evil faction had never spoken much. They would attack immediately when they found the right opportunity.

Every move he made was ruthless and the target was killed in one blow!

Regan flicked his wrist forward, and the black dagger in his hand shot toward Fang Heng like a poisonous sting.

In Regan’s mind, Fang Heng was a ranged mage, and with such close proximity, his sudden attack would surely land a fatal blow!

Whoosh!

What the hell!

Regan’s face changed suddenly.

He realized with shock that his outstretched right hand had been tightly grasped by Fang Heng with just one hand.

“Bang!!!”

In the next moment, Regan couldn’t even say a word before a searing pain shot through his right hand. His body was thrown backward, crashing violently into the wall.

A few members of the Shadow Alliance team, witnessing this, were stunned and horrified. They looked at Regan, who was slowly pushing himself up against the wall. His face was as pale as death, and his right hand had been completely crushed by Fang Heng!

“Retreat!”

Someone shouted, and it became clear that no one was going to care about Regan’s fate. The entire team scattered in an instant, fleeing in all directions, vanishing into the cave.

Fang Heng was a bit surprised.

Well, well.

Their captain hadn’t even been taken out, and yet they were running so fast?

After all, the Shadow Alliance wasn’t a well-organized military force like the Holy Court. The teams they formed were not very stable, so when danger struck, self-preservation was their top priority.

Fang Heng had spent most of his time fighting the Holy Court, so he was accustomed to their tactics and rituals. Suddenly facing off against the Evil faction caught him off guard.

In a brief moment of distraction, the enemy had already fled.

Fang Heng frowned, too lazy to waste more time. He quickly chased after Regan to deal with him and reclaim the Holy Court trial stone from his hand.

“Let’s go. Don’t worry about them, we’ll continue.”

Fang Heng’s vampire blood perception had already locked onto the few members of Regan’s team who had fled earlier. However, they were scrambling in all directions through the grotto, and chasing each one down would be very time-consuming.

Forget it, no need to waste time.

Fang Heng led the group forward, continuing to explore.

Perhaps because the areas they had passed through earlier had already been explored by the Shadow Alliance, they encountered no danger along the way.

However, as they went deeper into the cave, waves of elemental life forms began to appear ahead.
