Chapter 274: Chapter 183: Ways of Expansion, River Bird is Tempted
Tu Chong finally snapped out of it and hurried over. "Here, let me. This is one fat pig!"
A moment later, he watched in shock as Xin Wan, using only one hand, helped Ren Yuanyang lift the pig.
"Don’t just stand there gawking, let’s get this done!" Ren Yuanyang urged. "If it comes to, it’ll just be in more pain, and it’ll be a struggle for us too."
Tu Chong immediately nodded. He placed a basin under the pig’s neck, took out a sharp dagger, and deftly slit its carotid artery. Blood gushed into the basin.
He continuously stirred the blood in the basin to keep it from coagulating, thinking to himself, ’Does becoming an Evolver really make you that much stronger?’
Once the pig was bled, he began to demonstrate his incredibly skilled knife work, gutting the animal and expertly butchering it into sections...
"A true professional," Ren Yuanyang commented with a note of praise. "I’ll leave this to you." With that, he turned and left.
Once the pork was cut up, it would be handed over to Xin Wan for processing.
Tu Chong, meanwhile, went on to slaughtering the chickens, rabbits, and pigeons.
By the time Ren Yuanyang got back to the shipping containers, Qin Haonan had also returned.
"Everything taken care of?" Ren Yuanyang asked.
Qin Haonan gulped down some water before replying, "All taken care of!"
"Don’t forget to move positions every four hours," Ren Yuanyang reminded him.
"Don’t worry, I already set an alarm!" Qin Haonan replied, shaking his phone.
"Good. If there’s nothing else, you can start studying the Daoist Scriptures on the computer," Ren Yuanyang said with a slight nod.
Hearing this, Qin Haonan’s expression soured. "Chief, I think I’d better go keep an eye on the metal wall outside. What if the Level 7 winds flatten it? I’ll need to be there to fix it right away!"
With that, he immediately tried to make a run for it.
"Stop right there! No more excuses," Ren Yuanyang said, glaring at him. "Fine, you don’t have to read now. Instead, you can change the shape of this shipping container."
Qin Haonan immediately perked up. "No problem! Just tell me what you want it to look like!"
’Anything but read!’
Ren Yuanyang looked exasperated. "I’m planning to turn this into the base’s main office. We’ll all work out of here from now on. We’ll also need a reception room and a dining area."
Qin Haonan nodded. "It definitely needs an upgrade. Working in a shipping container makes it feel like we’re on a construction site. I mean, this is supposed to be the nerve center of our base. It can’t be too shabby!"
"Then get started on the design I just described. You can make use of all the surrounding space," Ren Yuanyang replied.
"You got it! Leave it to me!" Qin Haonan said, patting his chest.
While the Peach Blossom Base was busy with its development, the speedboats searching for them near the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region came up empty.
Even the Xi’an Base’s Sixth Squad, which had previously spotted Ren Yuanyang’s group, gave chase for a long time in the direction they had vanished but found nothing.
"Sir, our speedboat is low on power. We can’t continue the pursuit!" the leader of the Sixth Squad immediately reported to Bao Mu.
"You didn’t even catch a glimpse of them?" Bao Mu asked, frowning.
"No," the captain said, shaking his head. "We lost some time recovering Jim’s body, and their speedboat is just as fast as ours. Of course, even if we’d given chase immediately, we would have run out of power before we could catch them."
Bao Mu nodded slightly. "Alright, come back and resupply. Mark their last known position on the map and share it with the other squads. Have them continue the search in that vicinity."
"Yes, sir!"
Meanwhile, at the Aircraft Carrier Base, Wang Jun had made contact with the largest fleet from the River Bird Country.
"Hello. This is Wang Jun from the Dragon Country’s Aircraft Carrier Base," Wang Jun said, stating his identity upfront.
"Hello. I’m Nelson, captain of the River Bird Country’s River Bird Fleet," the other party replied. "What can we do for you, Captain Wang?"
Wang Jun didn’t beat around the bush, getting straight to the point. "I’d like to ask if your country managed to salvage its World Seed Vault."
"Of course it was salvaged," Nelson replied, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "We built the World Seed Vault precisely for cataclysms that are beyond human control."
"That’s excellent news. We’d like to purchase some of your seeds—just twenty of each variety. A number that small should have a negligible impact on your supply," Wang Jun continued.
Nelson was taken aback for a moment. He wasn’t surprised that the Aircraft Carrier Base wanted to buy seeds, but he was surprised by the quantity. ’Only twenty of each variety?’
Despite his surprise, he replied, "We’d be interested in trading for food and energy, but as you know, the distance between us is vast. If you’re willing to come to us, however, we can make a deal."
They were clearly unwilling to expend any of their own resources on travel. They wanted to stay put and have the Aircraft Carrier Base make the delivery.
Wang Jun smiled. "Besides food and energy, we also have an Evolution Potion in our possession that has a one hundred percent success rate in turning people into Evolvers. I wonder if you might be interested in that, Mr. Nelson?"
"What?!" Nelson replied instantly. "You really have an Evolution Potion with a one hundred percent success rate?"
"Of course," Wang Jun replied. "I’ve used it myself and was fortunate enough to become a special-type Evolver."
There was a long silence from Nelson’s end before another message came through: "Can you prove what you’re saying is true?"
"Frankly, no matter what I say, you’ll still have your doubts. You’ll only believe it when you see it for yourselves," Wang Jun replied with a smile. "Why don’t you send someone over to try it out?"
