Chapter 217: Chapter 166: Closing the Deal, We’re in No Hurry
’If this isn’t considered strong, then whose Superpower on Blue Star could possibly be called strong?’
Seeing the disbelieving looks on their faces, Ren Yuanyang felt a bit helpless. He didn’t bother explaining further. ’Let them think whatever they want!’
"Leader, how are you feeling now?" Hua Lingfang asked again.
He had lost count of how many times Hua Lingfang had asked.
"Excellent!" Although Ren Yuanyang was exasperated, he still answered truthfully. "Let’s get back to brewing the licorice decoction."
This time, Ren Yuanyang was brewing a Tier 2 enhanced Baked Licorice Decoction. The pain of evolution from it was already very low and generally tolerable; the only catch was that it lasted for a full day.
As for the Tier 3 enhanced Baked Licorice Potion, Ren Yuanyang planned to gift three vials to the three fleet captains. It was a gesture of goodwill, especially since he had acquired a large number of seeds from the Aircraft Carrier Base.
’Best to stay on good terms. It’ll make future business easier.’
’Besides seeds, the Aircraft Carrier Base must also have poultry and livestock, maybe even a lot of wild animals.’
’During the early days of the cataclysmic rain, humanity must have rescued some wild animals to preserve the spark of civilization and the integrity of the ecosystem.’
’Whether any are still alive now... that depends on if the Aircraft Carrier Base has enough food.’
’From what I’ve heard, the Aircraft Carrier Base should still have enough food, but I don’t know how long it will last.’
Ren Yuanyang’s Enhancement System had already unlocked animal enhancement. So, in addition to crop seeds, the animals at the Aircraft Carrier Base were also one of his targets.
That was why Ren Yuanyang had asked Wang Jun about the total number of personnel in the three fleets.
’The three fleets have about sixty thousand members in total. This time, I only gave them 2,400 Evolution Potions. The demand is still huge, so there will be plenty of opportunities for trade in the future!’
’Plus, a large base with a big population is more likely to have collected other types of plants. Those are my targets, too.’
This trade had consisted almost entirely of crop seeds, with barely any other plants.
"Leader, we’re out of the Tier 2 enhanced baked licorice. Let’s go harvest some more," Hua Lingfang said, getting to his feet when he noticed their supply was gone.
Ren Yuanyang nodded and rose, heading outside.
They came to the western edge of the Banyan Forest, where the licorice had grown into a large patch. Hua Lingfang harvested some Tier 3 enhanced licorice root according to his needs.
Then he followed Ren Yuanyang over to where Wang Feng was.
When Wang Feng saw Ren Yuanyang and Hua Lingfang approaching together, a look of reluctance crossed his face. He knew they were here for honey, and he worried that his bees would go hungry.
Ren Yuanyang caught the reluctance in his eyes and gave a wry smile. "After we get the honey this time, you can let your bees rest for a while."
"Do you mean it?" Wang Feng’s eyes lit up.
’This guy really does love his bees as if they were his own life!’
Ren Yuanyang had no choice but to nod. "I mean it. But we’ll need to take more this time."
Hearing that, Wang Feng’s expression soured again. Gritting his teeth, he agreed, "Fine!"
Under Wang Feng’s heartbroken gaze, Ren Yuanyang and Hua Lingfang took another huge chunk of honeycomb.
"’There’s plenty of nectar around here. You won’t go hungry, you definitely won’t," Wang Feng muttered, standing guard in front of the hives. It was unclear if he was comforting the bees or himself.
Back in the lab, Hua Lingfang was busy once more, preparing the baked licorice and brewing the decoction.
They spent the better part of the day at it, finally brewing enough licorice soup to formulate 2,500 doses of Evolution Potion.
"Ziyu, come over. We have some potions that need to be sealed in containers," Ren Yuanyang sent a message to Jin Ziyu.
"’Kay, Leader, be right there!" Jin Ziyu mumbled in reply.
Two minutes later, Jin Ziyu strolled over with a bag of potato chips, her mouth chomping away. CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH.
"You’re going to eat us into bankruptcy sooner or later," Ren Yuanyang said, looking at her with a speechless expression.
"No way! These chips were about to expire. I’m just helping get rid of food that’s nearing its shelf life! It would be a shame to throw them out," Jin Ziyu said, her smile blossoming.
"A likely story. Get to work," Ren Yuanyang said, pointing to the freshly prepared potion.
"Right!" Jin Ziyu walked over. With no apparent effort on her part, a nearby piece of metal shaped itself into a container.
A nearby iron pot levitated into the air, positioned itself over the newly formed container, and slowly tilted, pouring all of the potion into it.
She repeated this process until all the potion was transferred. The container then began to seal itself, leaving a small opening.
Next, the container began to contract, forcing all the air out. Once a small bead of the potion began to well up from the remaining air hole, Jin Ziyu gave a flick of her wrist. The hole vanished, and the container was perfectly sealed.
The entire process was remarkably deft.
"Not bad," Ren Yuanyang complimented. "Looks like your Mental Energy has improved again."
"Hee hee. Leader, since I did such a good job on this task, don’t you think I deserve a food reward?" Jin Ziyu asked, trying to angle for a reward while still munching on her chips.
Ren Yuanyang rolled his eyes. "Fine, go pick out three bags from Xin Wan."
"Yay! The leader’s the best!" Jin Ziyu skipped off toward the shipping containers where Xin Wan had her office.
Ren Yuanyang shook his head in resignation.
Hua Lingfang chuckled. "It’s a good thing she’s here at our Peach Blossom Base. I doubt any other base could keep her fed."
"I have no idea how that tiny stomach of hers can hold so much food," Ren Yuanyang remarked.
Hua Lingfang changed the subject. "Leader, now that the potions are ready, can we go trade with the Aircraft Carrier Base?"
Ren Yuanyang shook his head firmly. "Not yet. We need to establish a bigger lead."
Hua Lingfang paused for a moment, then instantly understood what Ren Yuanyang meant. ’There’s always an advantage to becoming an Evolver first!’
"Leader, I think even if they get these potions, they won’t use them right away. They’re probably still wary of us, so we’ll still have a head start," Hua Lingfang offered his opinion with a frown.
"That’s possible," Ren Yuanyang said, shaking his head slightly. "But they’ll most likely use them in batches. If we trade now, a small group is bound to use them immediately. Let’s wait a couple more days to secure our lead. Besides," he added, "we’re not in a huge rush for those crop seeds."
"But I am!" Hua Lingfang exclaimed, his expression eager.
Now it was Ren Yuanyang’s turn to be stunned.
"What are you so anxious about? It’s not like our base is short on food," Ren Yuanyang asked, completely bewildered.
