Lin Mu was even more surprised. The conditions here were crude, with no instruments to monitor their physical condition. ’How can Ren Yuanyang be so sure there are no side effects?’

As if sensing his confusion, Ren Yuanyang continued, "Our method of assessment doesn’t rely on instruments."

Lin Mu was stunned for a moment, then nodded. "I understand. Thank you for clearing that up for me, Leader!"

"Alright, our test was a complete success. You may all head back now!" Ren Yuanyang said with a smile.

"Yes, sir!" the five of them replied in unison, then stood up and walked out.

Lin Mu and Wang Feng headed toward the west side of the Banyan Forest, while Si Youqin and the other two went east.

"Sister Qin, does this mean we’re really Evolvers now?" Huo Wu asked, her face a mask of disbelief.

Si Youqin nodded. "Yes. But even though you’re Evolvers now, don’t get arrogant. Work hard for Peach Blossom Base, and you must never betray the Leader!" ℴ

"Don’t worry, Sister Qin. The Leader was the one who pulled us from the abyss and gave us this chance to evolve. I’ll work myself to the bone to serve him from now on. I will never betray him!" Huo Wu replied with a serious expression.

"Me too!" Gu Xin, a woman of few words, still made her stance clear.

Lin Mu headed straight for the planting area that needed harvesting. Jianghu was there, bent over and reaping wheat. Seeing Lin Mu approach, he immediately straightened up and looked him over with curiosity.

"Are you done with the test? Was it a success?"

Lin Mu nodded. "It was a success. And the Leader said our Evolution Potion doesn’t have any side effects, so there’s no need to worry!"

"So that means you’re all Evolvers now?" Jianghu asked, a little surprised.

"That’s right. I’m a Wood-Type," Lin Mu replied affirmatively.

"It was that simple? Was the process painful?" Jianghu grew even more curious. When he became an Evolver, he had suffered through a fever for two or three days.

"It really was simple. I barely felt a thing. I just took a nap, and when I woke up, I was an Evolver!" Lin Mu replied after a moment of thought.

Jianghu was completely speechless. "If I had known, I would’ve just waited to evolve here at the base! I felt like I was going to die when I went through it!"

Lin Mu paused, then smiled. "If you hadn’t evolved back then, are you sure you would have even been able to make it to Peach Blossom Base?"

Jianghu froze for a second, then nodded. "I suppose you’re right! Man, I’m so jealous you all got to evolve painlessly!"

Lin Mu rolled his eyes. "We should be the ones envying you. Your Mental Energy is way stronger than ours right now!"

"That stuff will get stronger as long as you use it!" Jianghu said with a shrug, looking unconcerned.

Lin Mu nodded. "The Leader also instructed us to use it frequently!"

"It’s perfect since you’re in charge of agriculture. Whenever you have free time, just try to accelerate the crops’ growth. You’ll not only speed up their development, but you’ll also increase your Mental Energy. Kill two birds with one stone!" Jianghu said with a smile.

"You’re right. Let’s finish harvesting this wheat first, though," Lin Mu said, picking up a nearby scythe.

"Wait a second. Aren’t you a Wood-Type Evolver now? Can’t you just control the wheat to thresh itself, and then use your Mental Energy to gather it all into a pile?" Jianghu suggested.

Lin Mu paused. "I’ll give it a try!"

He focused his Mental Energy on a stalk of wheat in front of him and found that he could indeed sense it. But when he tried to control it, he discovered he couldn’t.

He figured it must be because his Mental Energy wasn’t strong enough to control the wheat.

Lin Mu shook his head, frustrated. "I can’t control them yet!"

Jianghu was confused. "You can’t control them? I remember I could control water right after I became a Water-Type Evolver."

Lin Mu was taken aback. ’Are Wood-Type Evolvers this weak?’

"Wood-Type Evolvers are definitely not weak. Just look at our Leader—he’s ridiculously powerful!" Jianghu said, shaking his head firmly. "You should find some time to ask the Leader. His Mental Energy must be incredibly high. He can teach you how to use yours more efficiently!"

Lin Mu nodded. "Alright, but let’s get back to work for now!"

He resignedly went back to harvesting the wheat with his scythe. However, his physique had become much stronger since becoming an Evolver. In the past, he would have needed a short break after harvesting four or five planting areas in a row, but now he didn’t feel the slightest bit of fatigue.

Qin Haonan immediately grabbed a vial, rolled up his own sleeve, gave his upper arm a haphazard wipe with an alcohol swab, and jabbed the needle straight in, quickly pushing the entire dose of the potion into his body.

Watching him, the corners of Lu Jiamei’s and Xin Wan’s mouths twitched.
