Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed
Chapter 189 - 156: Fish Riot, No Big Impact
Chapter 189: Chapter 156: Fish Riot, No Big Impact
The whale shark was still relentlessly destroying the facilities on the water’s surface.
"Captain, our Mental Energy is exhausted!" the Evolver squad leader said, his face grim.
Wang Jun nodded. "Good work. Go get some rest."
The recent attempt by the nine Evolvers confirmed that Mental Energy could repel the evolved whale shark, but theirs wasn’t strong enough. The repulsion attempt had failed.
"Deploy the Anesthetic Guns and torpedoes immediately! It’s destroyed so much of our equipment—we have to take it down!" Wang Jun ordered grimly. "Use ten times the normal dose of anesthetic!"
"Yes, sir!"
While most survivors were scrambling to deal with the suddenly frenzied Evolutionary Fish, the residents of Peach Blossom Base were enjoying a leisurely breakfast.
Jin Ziyu’s phone was still mirrored on the large screen, and when Si Youqin and the others saw the news, they grew worried.
"Sister Qin, our base relies mainly on evolved plants. If all the fish in the ocean go on a rampage, doesn’t that put our base in great danger?"
Si Youqin nodded and looked decisively at Jin Ziyu, who was currently wolfing down her food. "Ziyu, why don’t you send the leader a message to give him a heads-up? They’re probably eating and haven’t seen the regional channel chat."
Jin Ziyu lifted her head from her plate. Chewing her food, she nodded, picked up her phone, and sent a voice message to Ren Yuanyang.
"Check the regional channel. Everyone’s saying the Evolutionary Fish are on a rampage. They’re not going to chew up our entire Banyan Forest, are they?"
Hearing Jin Ziyu’s blunt words, Si Youqin was speechless. ’Was it really a good idea to say something so unlucky out loud?’
"Okay, got it. I’ll keep an eye on it," Ren Yuanyang quickly replied.
"The leader knows now, so let’s get back to eating!" Jin Ziyu switched her phone back to the regional channel and resumed her battle with the food on her plate.
She wasn’t the least bit concerned about the Evolutionary Fish rampage.
Although Si Youqin was still worried, now that the leader knew, all she could do was wait for him to come up with a plan.
Ren Yuanyang had played Jin Ziyu’s voice message out loud, so Lu Jiamei and the others had heard it as well. They all pulled out their phones to see what was going on.
After scrolling through the chat logs on the regional channel, Lu Jiamei frowned slightly. "Leader, it seems this fish rampage is pretty severe."
Qin Haonan was unconcerned. "We have dizzy fish grass. There’s no need to worry."
Just then, Xin Wan looked up. "That’s not a given. Captain Wang from the Aircraft Carrier Base just posted a message saying he sent out nine Evolvers, and even they couldn’t drive away the whale shark invading their base."
"So, does that mean these fish have reached a higher level of evolution than before?" Lu Jiamei’s brow furrowed as she looked to Ren Yuanyang.
Ren Yuanyang smiled faintly. "Everyone, there’s no need to worry. At their current level of evolution, these fish are no threat to us."
The dizzy fish grass in the Banyan Forest had its toxicity enhanced at least four times. Unless the fish had evolved more than four times, they wouldn’t dare approach it.
Furthermore, Ren Yuanyang had already confirmed through the surrounding plants that no fish were attacking the roots of the banyans or any other vegetation.
’With the Evolutionary Fish rampaging, my location should be under attack too. The fact that everything is calm here must mean the dizzy fish grass is working.’
’It also means the fish haven’t evolved more than four times yet.’
Seeing Ren Yuanyang’s certainty, the others relaxed and finished their breakfast in peace.
"Jiamei, head over and reassure Si Youqin and her group. Tell them to keep working and not to worry about the Evolutionary Fish rampage," Ren Yuanyang instructed.
"Yes, sir!" Lu Jiamei nodded, stood up, and headed out.
"Leader, should we reassure Minister Lin as well?" Hua Lingfang asked.
Before Ren Yuanyang could speak, Qin Haonan replied with a laugh, "There’s probably no need for that! They don’t have phones, so how would they know?"
Xin Wan reminded him as she cleared the dishes, "But they’ll be going over to the yacht. They’re bound to hear about it from Si Youqin’s group."
Qin Haonan froze for a second, then slapped his forehead. "Ah, right!"
"In that case, just reassure them when you go out on patrol," Ren Yuanyang replied.
"You got it!" Qin Haonan also stood and left.
By this time, Lu Jiamei had arrived at the yacht, where the women were still clearing away the dishes.
"Minister Lu!" everyone greeted her.
Lu Jiamei nodded slightly. "The leader sent me to let you all know that you don’t need to worry about the Evolutionary Fish rampage. At their current level of evolution, they can’t threaten our base."
Si Youqin and the others were taken aback for a moment, then they all nodded.
"Minister Lu, is our base’s dizzy fish grass really that potent?" Si Youqin couldn’t help but ask.
"Its potency depends on our leader." Lu Jiamei smiled, then turned and left.
Si Youqin froze again before it dawned on her. "Our leader is incredible!"
The others nodded in solemn agreement.
Jin Ziyu suddenly blurted out, "If the dizzy fish grass is that strong, won’t it scare away all the Evolutionary Fish? Doesn’t that mean we’ll have less to eat?"
"Ziyu, we should be glad just to survive a rampage of Evolutionary Fish. How can you still be thinking about eating?!" Si Youqin said, exasperated.
"As long as we’re with the leader, we’ll definitely survive! There’s no need to worry about that. All we need to think about is how to eat better!" Jin Ziyu seemed to have a blind faith in Ren Yuanyang.
Si Youqin wanted to tell her not to be so blindly optimistic, but then she realized... Jin Ziyu might actually have a point.
"All right, time for us to go build our own little homes." Si Youqin shook her head in resignation and called everyone to get to work.
At dinner last night, Ren Yuanyang had agreed to let them build their own bamboo houses in the Banyan Forest. Coincidentally, Hua Lingfang had no experiments to run today, so everyone was planning to pitch in and get the houses built as quickly as possible.
With a Gold-Type Evolver like Jin Ziyu on hand, building the bamboo houses would be much easier and faster.
While out on patrol, Qin Haonan stopped by to see Lin Mu and told him about the Evolutionary Fish rampage.
"The other survivor bases are having a real headache with this, but it won’t affect our base at all. The leader just wanted me to tell you so you can all keep working with peace of mind," Qin Haonan concluded.
Lin Mu nodded. "Understood. Thank you for the update, Minister Qin."
"Don’t mention it. I’ll let you get back to it; I have to continue my patrol." Qin Haonan gave a wave and headed toward the edge of the Banyan Forest.
The Evolutionary Fish rampage actually made Peach Blossom Base safer. With all the other survivors’ attention focused on the crisis, it was unlikely anyone would venture into the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region to explore.
The kind of people who went exploring were usually those whose lives had become too comfortable and who were looking for a thrill.
Even so, Qin Haonan continued his patrol as planned to ensure the base’s security.
「Meanwhile, at Dawn Base」
In an effort to win popular support, Jing Shu had already helped several wooden boats repel Evolutionary Fish.
The Evolutionary Fish those wooden boats encountered were relatively small, so Jing Shu handled them with ease.
However, the continuous use of his Mental Energy was starting to fatigue him.
Rubbing his temples, Jing Shu asked, "What’s the status on the experimental data recovery?"
’This sudden Evolutionary Fish rampage has made me realize how important Evolvers are,’ he thought. ’If I had enough of them, I wouldn’t have to worry about this at all. I might even be able to use this opportunity to get more Evolutionary Fish Meat!’
For this very reason, he was now even more focused on the experimental data for the Evolution Potion.
"The leadership of the Han Jin Association Fleet left in a hurry, so their deletions weren’t thorough," his adjutant replied immediately. "At the current rate, we should have it fully recovered before noon."
"Excellent!" Jing Shu said happily. "Looks like we need to discuss how to make a deal with the Aircraft Carrier Base."
The adjutant nodded and continued, "We’ll definitely want supplies. It would be even better if we could also secure purchasing rights for Evolution Potions. It’s unlikely we’ll be able to develop them on our own, so we’ll still have to buy them from the Aircraft Carrier Base."
"Exactly. We have to get the purchasing rights for the Evolution Potions. Evolvers are only going to become more important from now on," Jing Shu agreed.
"I’m just worried the experimental data won’t be valuable enough..." the adjutant said, concerned.
