Chapter 170: Chapter 148: Rapid Growth, A Suspected Peach Blossom Spring
"Leader, let me handle this!" Hua Wen volunteered.
Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. "Alright. I need you to record the coordinates at the same time and from the same location every day. If you notice the Banyan Forest’s movement accelerating, report to me immediately!"
"Yes!" Hua Wen replied excitedly.
Hua Lingfang could see the exhaustion on Ren Yuanyang’s face. He knew Ren Yuanyang had spent a great deal of energy on evolving the base’s crops, so he spoke up to take his leave. "Leader, if there’s nothing else, we’ll be on our way."
Ren Yuanyang waved his hand, and Hua Lingfang and Hua Wen turned and left the room.
"Grandpa, when should I start recording?" Hua Wen was thrilled to have finally received an official task.
"Let’s start tonight. Every evening at six, over by the shipping containers. You can also report your findings to the Leader during dinner," Hua Lingfang replied after a moment of thought.
"Okay!" Hua Wen nodded solemnly.
"Alright, go find something to do. I’m going to check on Minister Lin." Before leaving, Hua Lingfang added a reminder, "And less time on your phone!"
Hua Wen immediately darted away.
"I’m going to help Sister Qin press diesel fuel!"
His voice trailed off into the distance.
"That kid!" Hua Lingfang chuckled helplessly and headed west.
As he passed a planting plot, he saw Lin Mu harvesting soybeans.
Hua Lingfang immediately rolled up his sleeves and went over to help.
"Elder Hua, you’re here!" Lin Mu called out. "There isn’t much left, I can handle it. You should get some rest!"
"It’s fine. A little activity is good for the body!" Hua Lingfang replied with a smile.
A single planting plot was only nine square meters, so working together, the two of them quickly finished harvesting the soybeans.
"Thanks for your hard work, Elder Hua!" Lin Mu said with a smile. "Elder Hua, did you come looking for me specifically?"
Hua Lingfang waved his hand. "I can still handle this little bit of work. But yes, I was looking for you. I wanted to see how the licorice is growing."
"It’s growing very well, and incredibly fast!" Lin Mu replied. "Follow me!"
Lin Mu led Hua Lingfang toward the plot where the licorice was growing.
The licorice plants were already lush and thriving.
Lin Mu went forward to inspect them carefully, paying special attention to the roots. Then he stood up and said to Hua Lingfang, "Elder Hua, at this rate, we can probably try harvesting some of the roots by tomorrow evening!"
He knew Hua Lingfang was asking about the licorice for an experiment, which was why he emphasized the harvest time for the roots.
"Excellent!"
Hua Lingfang was overjoyed to hear this.
Seeing Hua Lingfang’s reaction, Lin Mu sighed inwardly. ’I didn’t realize Elder Hua was such a medicine fanatic!’
In his eyes, Hua Lingfang must be researching some kind of medicinal formula.
"Well, I won’t disturb you any longer. You can ask Si Youqin for help with processing the crops later," Hua Lingfang said, preparing to leave.
"Alright!" Lin Mu replied.
Around noon, Ren Yuanyang and the others gathered in a shipping container for lunch.
"I want to give special praise to Hua Wen today. He’s the one who discovered that our Banyan Forest is slowly moving northwest!" Ren Yuanyang praised Hua Wen in front of everyone.
Hua Wen’s young face flushed with excitement. He was usually invisible during the adults’ conversations, but today the Leader had praised him personally. He felt incredibly proud!
"The Banyan Forest is moving? Really? How come I haven’t felt anything?" Qin Haonan asked, surprised.
Lu Jiamei and Xin Wan were just as shocked.
Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly and explained Hua Wen’s discovery in detail.
"It’s only moving ten centimeters a day? That’s basically negligible!" Qin Haonan said dismissively.
"What if it accelerates? If it starts moving one or two kilometers a day, our Banyan Forest will quickly drift out of this Seventh-level Wind Sea Region," Ren Yuanyang countered.
Qin Haonan was taken aback for a moment, then nodded. He continued, "It would be great if there was a way to anchor the Banyan Forest in place."
"If we could continue expanding the scale of the Banyan Forest, that should reduce its movement speed," Ren Yuanyang replied after a brief pause.
"Then let’s keep expanding it!" Qin Haonan immediately shot back.
Ren Yuanyang gave him an exasperated glare. "If you can raise my Mental Energy to the point where I can project it externally, then the Banyan Forest can be expanded!"
Qin Haonan froze, then scratched his head with a laugh. "Yeah, I can’t do that!"
"For now, this speed doesn’t have a major impact on us. We just need to monitor the Banyan Forest’s movement closely," Ren Yuanyang continued. "And that task has been given to Hua Wen."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
"Is this the same as continental drift?" Xin Wan suddenly asked.
Ren Yuanyang paused, then replied with a smile, "You could actually think of it that way!"
"Isn’t continental drift just a hypothesis?" Lu Jiamei asked, frowning slightly.
"Whether continental drift is a hypothesis or not, the drift of our Peach Blossom Base’s Duckweed Continent is real," Ren Yuanyang replied. "No need to get too hung up on it."
"Exactly! None of the old scientific theories can explain what’s happening to Blue Star now," Qin Haonan chimed in. "We all have to relearn how this world works!"
Ren Yuanyang gave him a surprised look. "I didn’t expect such a profound insight from you!"
Qin Haonan grinned. "It’s mainly from following you, Leader. I’ve seen a lot."
"Tch!" Ren Yuanyang rolled his eyes. "Stop sucking up!"
"I’m just speaking the truth!" Qin Haonan said with a mock-serious expression.
