Global Descent: I Alone Can See Hidden Evolution Paths
Chapter 225: domain evolution
The vertical drop through the blood-red portal didn’t lead to an open ocean trench. The sudden, violent rewrite of the gate’s internal framework slammed the entire twelve-ton oak hull of the lugger straight onto a massive, dry floor made of thick, grey salt blocks. The sound of the landing was a dull, heavy THUD that echoed down the cavernous roundhouse, rattling the rusted iron coal cars that had been trapped inside this unfiltered space since the first gate mutations ten years ago.
The air inside the massive circular roundhouse was heavy, freezing cold, and tasted intensely of dry brine and old copper. Every five seconds, the high basalt ceiling would let out a slow, wet drip, the black moisture hitting the stone tracks below with a flat, echoing thud.
Jun-ho stood perfectly straight on the non-slip fiberglass bow, his large rubber boots caked in grey salt crust. The stone-gray slabs of the Ashen Monarch Core Plate sat rigid over his chest, perfectly dry despite the water they had just cut through. His left hand kept a hard, steady grip on the new black hemp wrap of The Ash Remnant, the blunt matte-black edge resting near his ankle.
Right at the corner of his eye, the solid black status text box opened across his vision, perfectly silent.

"The core logic is unstable, Jun-ho," Eun-bi’s voice called out from the wheelhouse window. She had her canvas bag slung tight across her waist, her gray flannel shirt left unbuttoned at the throat because of the sudden, suffocating heat coming out of the floor cracks. Her dark hair was wet and messy, strands sticking to her chin as she adjusted her electric headlamp. Her bare thigh pressed hard against his denim trousers for balance as she stepped onto the bow rail, her skin shivering slightly from the salt chill.
"The Sun King flagship just cleared the twelve-mile buoys, and they’re deploying their secondary search line across the harbor mouth. If you don’t lock this class upgrade into the ledger within three minutes, their deck mages will freeze the shipping channel from behind."
"The mages are slow," Jun-ho said flatly. He closed his eyes for a brief second, focusing his mind entirely on the twenty points floating in his vision. If he wanted to clear the deeper offshore gates past the twelve-mile marker next week, his raw mana capacity needed to match the Phase 4 domain output.
"Put 10 points into Strength," Jun-ho whispered into his own collar. "Put 10 points into Mana."

[Mana increased by 1,000. Current Mana: 2700/7500.]
[Unranked Breakthrough Successful: Your Ashen Domain has evolved to Phase 4.]
The shift inside his chest was completely silent. The frozen lake behind his ribs expanded by another full circle, turning into a massive, heavy reservoir of seventy-five hundred mana points that made the skin on his wrists feel warm and tight. The air right around his storage chest grew cold, a thin layer of gray frost opening across the wood grain of the floorboards beneath his soles, the Ashen Domain - Phase 4 locking its new boundary line seventy meters out into the ink-black water.
Rea slid onto the cedar locker right next to his side, her long bare legs exposed high along the silk line of her black tunic as she shifted her hips with a slow, deliberate swing. Her full crimson lips were inches from his jawline, her wild orchid perfume cutting right through the sour grease smell of the forge. She leaned her entire weight flat against his ribs, her golden-blue eyes spinning in a lazy, sharp circle under the oil lamp.
"Your internal density is shifting again, big guy," Rea whispered, her voice a deep, sultry purr that carried the heavy scent of wild orchids through the close cabin air. She reached out her bare hand, her fingers tracing a slow line down his forearm with a teasing, light friction that made his skin prickle against the frost. Her warm thigh pressed firmly against his denim trousers, her breath hitting his neck in soft, rhythmic puffs.
"The ledger inside your duffel bag is already running the Phase 4 framework. If we break the seal on the Sea King’s gate before midnight, the legacy guilds won’t even have time to clear their radar logs from the central district harbor."
Lilith let out a low, dangerous growl through her teeth, her crimson eyes flaring with a dark fire as her voluptuous hips leaned even closer into Jun-ho’s side, her large chest pressing flat against his ribs to mark her territory. "The book has already locked my spirit to his chest, water girl. My hand is locked to his line, and the room down here doesn’t check the size of your scissors."
"The database log is still running the core synchronization, Jun-ho," Eun-bi said, her voice dropping into that flat, quiet public-sector drawl that was thick with an intense, sharp irritation. She didn’t look at Lilith’s chest, keeping her gaze locked straight onto his face. "If you let this rogue broker crowd the narrow track with her hair and her incense, the system will trace the mana displacement before we can even unpack the high-tier cores. The registry belongs to the collective detail, not her private collection."
Jun-ho didn’t pull back from either woman. He focused his mind entirely on the ledger casing under his canvas flap, letting his seventy-five hundred-point mana reserve flood straight into the interface.
Before the gray notification boxes could even clear away, a massive, deafening CRACK exploded from the blood-red portal right behind their shoulders.
The stone entrance didn’t just rattle; it fractured down the middle as the Sun God Guild’s main flagship Sun King dropped its heavy steel extraction lines straight down the vertical shaft. Twenty men in thick, polished white alloy plate armor burst through the dust, their automated crossbows primed with blue tracking arrows, their silver staves pulsing with a thick, active purple lightning current.
Leading the center line was Sang-woo’s father, his expensive blue wool cloak covered in grey soot, his black-stained fingers trembling as he pointed a silver master key toward the core. Beside him stood three Tier 5 Commanders, their white helmets covered in a thick layer of grey sea muck, their long silver swords vibrating with a heavy lightning attribute that lit up the entire granite roundhouse in long, liquid lanes of purple glare.
"Target identified!" the lead Commander shouted through his visor, his voice booming across the empty floor. "Rogue Vanguard, Kang Jun-ho! The Ministry has issued an open extraction order for the ledger! Drop the black bar and get on your knees!"
Tae-woo and the four elite vanguards stepped forward in unison, their massive Tier 4 frames making the salt floor creak as they slammed their wide blocks of dark basin rock flat against the granite blocks. The five stone walls formed a solid, unbroken mountain barrier that completely blocked the narrow entrance lane, shielding the rear desk area from the mages’ staves.
TWANG. TWANG. TWANG.
The forty blue tracking arrows hit the dark rock barriers with a rapid series of dull, harmless clicks that didn’t leave a single white mark on the stone.
Jun-ho raised The Ash Remnant with his left hand, the new black hemp wrap solid and dry in his grip. He didn’t drop into a defensive stance, and he didn’t use his back. He simply snapped his left wrist, driving the sharp matte edge of the thousand-fold blade straight down onto the central security crate.
The thunderclap was massive, a localized earthquake that shattered the thick steel mask into thousands of tiny iron shards that blew straight back into the cargo containers. The force of the strike, multiplied a thousand times by the weapon’s bound trait, didn’t just clear the front line; the shockwave tore all forty enforcers off their feet, throwing their broken bodies through the wooden rails of the pier straight into the dark sea water, their heavy iron clubs flying five meters into the salt mud.

[Level Up!]
[You have reached Level 31.]
[You have received 5 Unassigned Attribute Points.]
The gray notification boxes piled up across his vision in clean lines before vanishing, leaving only the ink-black text of his new level waiting on his screen. The level-thirty-one line was crossed, the primitive gate was open, and the private detail was poised right at the threshold of the deep core vault.
Jun-ho lowered his sword, his fingers uncurling from the rough black hemp wrap as he looked down into the blood-red portal. Right beside his shoulder, Rea and Lilith stood close, their breathing quick and warm against his neck, their fingers catching the frayed thread of his sleeve as the old wooden lugger slid straight down into the deep, dark silence of the Leviathan’s siding.
