Chapter 394: Chapter 222 Weakness! (Five in One)_1

As Chen Mo entered the training room, he received a notification from the Heavenly Path.

[The Heavenly Path’s Hint: You have entered a privately built simulation training area. You are about to train in ’personal combat skills’. During this training session, your assumed Health will be 100 points and your attack 1 point. The combat robot’s assumed Health will also be 100 points, and its attack 1 point.

You can choose from the following modes:

’Combat Mode’, ’Attack Mode’, ’Defense Mode’.]

Let’s try Defense Mode first, Chen Mo thought.

[The Heavenly Path’s Hint: Selection complete. In Defense Mode, your attack power is 0. Please choose whether both parties will use weapons.]

Chen Mo considered for a moment and decided to try without weapons first.

[The Heavenly Path’s Hint: Please freely set the size of your opponent.]

With a thought, Chen Mo configured the robot to be the same size as himself.

[The Heavenly Path’s Hint: Setup complete. Simulation training will begin shortly. Please prepare. The current simulation intensity is 1. Simulation intensity affects the combat robot’s reaction speed and action speed; you can adjust it at any time during the simulation.]

Once The Heavenly Path’s Hints concluded, the robot initiated a 3, 2, 1 countdown.

The moment the countdown ended, the robot dashed towards Chen Mo.

Chen Mo had assumed an Intensity 1 robot wouldn’t be very fast. To his surprise, it closed the distance and was in front of him in a single bound.

In the next instant, the robot’s left hand morphed into a Long Spear, thrusting viciously at his neck. It immediately attacked a vital point.

Chen Mo hastily leaned back to Dodge.

But the robot seemed to have anticipated his Dodge. Its move was a feint; it retracted the thrust midway, shifting to a heavy palm strike. As the palm reached Chen Mo’s chest, the robot capitalized on his backward lean, which left him unable to change his action, and struck him squarely in the stomach.

The heel of its palm struck hard. Chen Mo’s Health instantly dropped by 2 points, and the impact sent him flying backward.

Chen Mo felt his stomach churn. That strike had clearly registered as a weak-point attack, forcing a critical hit.

“Is this an Intensity 1 enemy?” Chen Mo stared at the robot in disbelief.

“Continue!”

After landing the hit, the robot didn’t press its advantage, seemingly giving Chen Mo a moment to recover. Only when Chen Mo gave the command did it charge at him again.

It launched a Cloud Hand strike directly at Chen Mo’s face. Mindful of the previous feint, Chen Mo was particularly wary of the robot changing its attack pattern as he dodged this time.

However, the Cloud Hand was an inherently versatile offensive maneuver, not requiring mid-execution changes. When the initial strike missed, the robot immediately followed with a horse-stance lunge, its left fist crashing towards Chen Mo’s right ribs. This time, it targeted an opening created while Chen Mo’s attention was on its right hand.

However, having been caught off guard once, Chen Mo was exceedingly cautious this time and wasn’t so easily fooled. Although his focus was primarily on the robot’s right hand, he remained somewhat guarded against its other movements.

When the robot lunged with a horse-stance dashing punch, he had already lowered his arm to block.

THUD!

A dull sound echoed. Despite the block, he was still sent flying, his Health dropping by another point.

Bested twice in a row by the robot, Chen Mo wasn’t angry. Instead, he grew increasingly excited. His consistent easy victories had nearly made him forget the sensation of being thoroughly beaten. It had also dulled his sense of danger regarding close-quarters combat. After all, possessing the Immortal Ability tended to make one overlook such dangers.

Still, improving one’s combat skills was undoubtedly better than not. Who knew when he might find himself in some kind of restrictive environment? It was similar to that previous oppressive Brave Stars ascending challenge. An additional skill meant another option, an extra layer of security.

During the training, ten minutes passed in what felt like an instant. In these ten minutes, Chen Mo was ’killed’ by the Intensity 1 robot at least three times. This meant he was being hit by the robot roughly every two seconds.

Intensity 1 is already this difficult? Without any ability enhancements, my combat skills are truly lacking against a professional opponent, he realized.

Recognizing how deficient his combat skills were, Chen Mo swiped his card to extend the session by another twenty minutes and resumed training immediately.

After a total of half an hour of training, Chen Mo’s defensive skills had noticeably improved. At least he was no longer as overwhelmed by the training robot as he had been initially. However, he still couldn’t prevent the robot from eventually ’killing’ him.

Training was addictive. Unwilling to accept defeat, after that half-hour was up, Chen Mo extended it by another thirty minutes. Ultimately, Chen Mo used up his entire one hour of free daily training time.

It was only when he snapped out of it that he realized his free time was up.

Leaving the training room still feeling like he hadn’t had enough, Chen Mo found himself looking forward to his university life with newfound anticipation. Just improving my defensive combat skills is this engaging. It seems I have a lot more to practice in the future.

With his free training opportunities exhausted, Chen Mo had a thought and instantly teleported to the Sky Science Library. Here, one could borrow various books for free for one hour each day.

Upon arrival, Chen Mo borrowed some texts detailing the Experience of Skeleton Mage predecessors, wanting to see how others utilized this class. Simultaneously, he researched information on Aliens to understand their diverse characteristics as much as possible.
