Chapter 629: Everything Is Under Control
Chapter 629: Chapter 629: Everything Is Under Control
“It seems I must give them a hand,” Charles muttered to himself. He then instructed Mousie to use the shadows to infiltrate Aldany’s subordinates.
Unnoticed by anyone, Mousie launched an attack on General Sost from within the shadows. Given the tense atmosphere and the fact that almost everyone’s attention was focused on Aldany and General Sost, no one realized what had happened. So, when Mousie’s attack struck, everyone instinctively believed it was a surprise attack from Aldany’s forces.
A fierce battle suddenly erupted between the two sides.
Aldany was somewhat surprised, but there was no time to dwell on it. “Since you refuse to submit to me, don’t blame me for being rude,” he said, transforming into a mass of shadows composed entirely of curses. The dark mass sped towards General Sost with terrifying speed.
General Sost responded with a cold laugh. “You really think your strength surpasses mine, Aldany? You’re overly arrogant. Today, you’ll learn just how powerful I am as the Chief General of the Serpent Empire!”
Faced with Aldany’s cursed assault, General Sost showed no signs of retreating. He stomped heavily on the ground, causing a massive crack to form beneath him. The crack quickly stretched toward Aldany.
The curses Aldany had summoned were all devoured by the fissure.
At the same time, General Sost drew his sword from its scabbard. A golden flash of light emanated from the blade, and everyone present could feel a tremendous pressure.
The strength of Sost’s subordinates surged significantly. Their confidence, too, grew immensely.
The skill Sost had just demonstrated was one he frequently used in the war against the Stellar Empire. Not only did it severely intimidate enemies, but it also empowered his subordinates. In war, this was an undeniably god-like ability.
With General Sost revealing his full power, the tide of the battlefield shifted instantly.
The advantage Aldany had gained through his sneak attack was completely wiped out.
General Sost continued to swing his sword at Aldany. Although Aldany had transformed into a mass of curses, he found himself constantly retreating in the face of the onslaught.
The loyal subordinates Aldany had brought along were also steadily suppressed by the enemy.
“I will give you one last chance. If you are willing to surrender and repent for your crimes, I will spare your life.”
After gaining the upper hand, General Sost began trying to persuade Aldany to surrender. He did this because he realized that completely uprooting Aldany and his forces would come at a tremendous cost. This would be highly detrimental to the Serpent Empire. If he could convince Aldany to surrender, he could avoid internal conflict within the empire to the greatest extent possible.
Upon hearing these words, Aldany sneered and responded, “Is that all? You only intend to spare my life? Are you planning to keep me locked up in a prison for the rest of my days?”
“Of course, sparing your life would already be an act of great mercy. If you refuse to accept a life in prison, then you may as well die!” General Sost replied, intensifying his assault. He hoped to completely crush Aldany’s hopes of victory in one final push.
Aldany let out a loud laugh. “You’re truly naive! Do you really think I’m on the back foot right now? I haven’t fallen at all! I still have hidden tricks up my sleeve.”
As soon as Aldany finished speaking, General Sost felt a chilling gaze directed at him. Before he could react, a poisoned dagger had already been driven into his back. The owner of the dagger was none other than his most trusted lieutenant.
General Sost’s eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at his lieutenant. “Why would you do this?” he asked, struggling to speak.
The lieutenant merely gazed at him coldly without responding. The one who answered was Aldany.
At that moment, Aldany had used the power of curses to completely seal the heavily injured General Sost. “The reason he did this is because he has always been my subordinate. He was abandoned by his parents at a young age, and had it not been for me, he would have died long ago. It was I who gave him the chance to rise through the ranks of the Serpent Empire’s military. In the end, through his efforts, he became your lieutenant. But no matter what, he has always remained loyal to me. Whatever I ask of him, he does. And you’re not the only one I’ve placed my people around.”
Aldany believed that victory was now within his grasp. He immediately signaled for his people to reveal themselves.
As these individuals stepped forward and revealed their true loyalties, those Serpent soldiers who remained loyal to General Sost quickly began to falter.
Azka, who had been fighting fiercely, now found himself surrounded by enemies and had no choice but to face the oncoming assault from all sides.
Aldany glanced at Azka, who was still fighting.
“Why do you continue to resist? I have already seized control of the entire Serpent Empire! Your continued resistance is meaningless!” He still hoped to convince Azka to surrender. After all, Azka was the most powerful Beast Master within the Serpent Empire, and the only one with a rank higher than the third tier.
In response to Aldany’s attempt to convince him, Azka sneered in disgust. “Stop talking nonsense! You will never control the entire Serpent Empire! I will never surrender to you! I would rather fight to the death!”
Azka’s reply was firm and resolute.
Aldany let out a cold snort. “If that’s how it is, then you can die right here! There’s no need for mercy, kill Azka now! We can always cultivate other Beast Masters!”
At Aldany’s command, his forces launched a full-scale attack on Azka.
Though Azka still managed to hold his ground, it became increasingly difficult for him to keep up with the overwhelming assault.
Meanwhile, Andrew, who had been watching from the sidelines, yawned. He found the whole situation utterly boring.
“Your plan must be working, right? The human Beast Master you mentioned hasn’t shown up yet. Does that mean he’s never coming? Shouldn’t you be handing over the treasure you promised me by now?”
At Andrew’s insistence, Aldany’s face revealed a look of disdain, but he still took the time to explain.
“Although I defeated General Sost, I still need some time to fully take control of the Serpent Empire’s military. Once I have wiped out all of Sost’s loyal Serpents, I will fulfill my promise.”
With that, he walked toward the completely sealed General Sost.
General Sost glared angrily at Aldany.
Aldany smiled and said, “You don’t need to look at me like that. When you first refused to submit to me, you sealed your fate. But you won’t be lonely for long. I will soon send Her Majesty the Queen to Hell to join you.”
He sneered as he raised his weapon.
Just then, a dazzling array of colorful lights suddenly illuminated the sky, and a massive dragon soared into the air.
Everyone present looked on in shock.
Aldany couldn’t understand why a dragon had appeared out of nowhere, but there was no time for him to think about it.
As the dragon took flight, a mighty roar descended from the heavens. The Dragon’s Aura froze everyone in place, except for Aldany, General Sost, and a few others.
Seizing this opportunity, Azka managed to break free from his attackers.
Andrew, seeing this turn of events, quickly realized that Charles had decided to make his appearance. Naturally, he could no longer remain by Aldany’s side. He immediately distanced himself from him.
The next moment, Charles descended from the sky, accompanied by his mystical beast. He immediately lifted the seal placed on General Sost.
Upon seeing Charles, Aldany’s face contorted with frustration.
“It’s you again! Every time, it’s you who ruins my plans! But not this time! I will not let you succeed! I have my own allies now!”
As he said this, Aldany instinctively began searching for Andrew.
Charles sneered. “Your allies? Is he the one you’re referring to?”
He casually pointed to the side, and Andrew just so happened to appear right there.
Upon seeing this, Aldany’s expression shifted from one of frustration to shock and panic.
“Why are you by his side?!”
“He’s my ally! No, I can’t even call him my ally. I should call him my elder brother! Of course, I’m standing by my elder brother’s side!” Andrew said, matter-of-factly.
Though Aldany was stunned, he soon understood that once again, Charles had ruined his plans. Enraged and humiliated, he glared at Charles.
Charles, however, smiled calmly. “You have no right to say that everything is under control when you’re in my presence. Only we have the right to claim that everything is under control.
Not only has your plan completely failed, but all the people you secretly planted have also been exposed. This time, I will completely eliminate you and your subordinates. I will never again allow you to threaten me or the Serpent Empire. You won’t get another chance. You have no way of escaping.”
Charles struck at the perfect moment. At this point, Aldany had no chance of defeating him.
