Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready
Chapter 582. Mountains and Rivers Tremble, Someone Steps Forward
Everyone looked up, their expressions grave.
Several figures had appeared in the void. They stood suspended in the air, wreathed in blazing radiance as immense power swept across Heaven and Earth.
Jiang Huanyun, Zhu Qingyu, Ice Fairy, and the others felt crushing pressure descend upon them. Those with weaker cultivation began trembling, as though their souls had been bound and even speech had become difficult.
The figures above were simply too powerful. Their presence alone was enough to make the mountains and rivers tremble.
Some members of the Celestial Court could not judge what realm these experts had reached. They only knew that if the newcomers attacked, they would have virtually no chance to resist.
A battle would mean certain death. Yet no one moved from where they stood.
Even if they knew they would die and could not stop the enemy, so what? They had chosen to stand here, and they would not retreat.
Jiang Huanyun stared at the figures, his brow deeply furrowed as a realization struck him.
Celestial Seat Immortals.
A cultivator normally could not discern the strength of someone in a higher realm unless that person revealed it. The newcomers had made no attempt to conceal their auras. Instead, they displayed their cultivation openly for everyone to sense.
Jiang Huanyun immediately recognized that they were Celestial Seat Immortals, and any remaining hope of resisting the two factions dwindled further.
When the Eternal Warship first descended, the experts sent to the famous mountains and great rivers had been only Grotto-Heaven Immortals. Creation Immortals appeared only when those experts encountered an opponent they could not handle.
At that point, Jiang Huanyun and the others had known the enemy would be difficult to confront, but the situation had not been hopeless. They might still have fought against Creation Immortals, however slim their chances.
Now, more than one Celestial Seat Immortal had appeared.
Unless a miracle occurred, everyone from the Celestial Court on Mount Tai would face disaster. Once they fell, the ordinary citizens in the five supercities would be next.
More auras appeared in the distant sky. They were not especially powerful, though some were Immortals. None approached. They remained at a distance to watch, knowing that the two factions had come to attack the Celestial Court.
Everyone knew the conflict between the Eternals, the Ji Clan, and the Celestial Court stemmed from their long-standing enmity with Lu Yuan. The two factions had lost not only their Holy Sons, but many other clansmen as well.
Now that they had brought their full might to bear, a massacre would inevitably follow.
Had Lu Yuan still been on Earth to guard the Celestial Court, the onlookers might have believed a miracle was possible. Even then, it would have taken nothing short of a miracle. The two factions had deployed Celestial Seat Immortals, experts surpassed only by Starfield Lords and Supreme Immortals.
What could Lu Yuan have changed even if he were present?
The beings of the various starfields all acknowledged his strength, but even his power had to have limits. They had gathered here only to witness the Celestial Court's destruction.
Still, members of several powerful starfield clans wondered whether they should aid the Celestial Court once the battle began. However, they were simply too weak to make a difference. Intervening would accomplish nothing and might only draw the enemy's wrath upon themselves.
On Jade Emperor Peak, the Eternal Warship and the experts of the two factions had fully descended. None concealed their auras, and waves of terrifying power rolled outward.
"Jiang Huanyun, we have no desire to wage an all-out war against the Jiang Clan," a Ji Clan Creation Immortal said. "If you understand the situation, leave now. I can also promise not to harm your clansmen."
His tone held no clemency, only mockery, as though he were graciously bestowing a reward.
Jiang Huanyun's expression remained unchanged. "The Jiang Clan and the Celestial Court have long been allies. We stand as one. But look at the forces you've brought. Celestial Seat Immortals, Creation Immortals, and Grotto-Heaven Immortals."
"You've gathered all this strength merely to deal with the Celestial Court's juniors. Aren't you ashamed?"
Jiang Huanyun did not believe a few words would persuade the two factions to withdraw. But if even the slightest possibility existed, he had to try. Once the fighting began, every member of the Celestial Court present, including the Jiang Clan disciples, would likely be wiped out.
The chances were slim, but he could not abandon them.
"What a pity. The Jiang Clan remains as stubborn as ever. In that case, don't blame us for showing no mercy."
The Creation Immortal slowly retreated. Then all four Celestial Seat Immortals from the two factions stepped forward together.
Their auras erupted, shaking the mountains and rivers below and tearing apart the clouds overhead. The power was terrifying beyond measure.
Only the protection of the universe's laws kept Earth intact. Otherwise, the combined attack of four Celestial Seat Immortals could have destroyed the planet.
"Does anyone else wish to help this so-called Celestial Court and the Jiang Clan?" a Ji Clan Celestial Seat Immortal asked, looking down upon the world with cold contempt.
His challenge was directed at the surrounding starfield factions, though he did not care whether anyone stepped forward. With his cultivation, no matter how many opponents came, none would be his match.
Silence settled over the region.
After a long while, auras began appearing around Mount Tai. They belonged to those who had formed friendly ties with the Celestial Court. Although they had remained hidden until now, they chose to step forward at the critical moment.
They knew stepping forward was likely futile.
Even so, some things had to be done.
