Chapter 705: Chapter 495: The Two Legendary Mages Went to Get Reinforcements
"ROAR!"
Lightning let out a low growl.
A blinding flash of lightning erupted.
In the next instant, the Blue Cat vanished. In its place stood a ferocious Giant Dragon a hundred meters long.
Purple thunderbolts, like tiny snakes, slithered across its massive, scaly body, letting out soft CRACKLES.
Raylo leaped up, landing steadily on Lightning’s broad back.
Moonlight and Coal Ball also shot up like two streaks of light, landing nimbly beside him.
"Go."
Raylo pointed west.
"ROAR!"
Lightning let out a deep roar and powerfully beat its wings.
A fierce wind howled as its enormous body lifted off the ground. It transformed into a streak of purple lightning, tearing through the night sky and racing in the direction Coal Ball had sensed.
The wind whistled past his ears.
The mountains below receded at an incredible speed.
In just a few breaths, Lightning had flown two kilometers.
"AWOO!"
Coal Ball, perched on Raylo’s shoulder, suddenly cried out, pointing its small paw toward a deep, narrow ravine below.
The spatial fluctuations were coming from there.
"Down we go."
Lightning understood instantly. It folded its wings, its massive body plummeting toward the ravine below like a Meteorite.
BOOM!
A muffled crash echoed.
The hundred-meter Thunder Dragon landed steadily at the bottom of the ravine, kicking up a huge cloud of dust and rubble.
Inside the ravine, it was cold, damp, and almost devoid of moonlight.
Raylo jumped down from the dragon’s back, with Moonlight and Coal Ball following close behind.
He had Lightning change back into its Blue Cat form and follow him to avoid any unnecessary trouble its massive size might cause.
"Awoo..."
Coal Ball took the lead, acting like an experienced Hunting Dog, sniffing the air as it cautiously led the way.
It could feel that the source of the unsettling spatial fluctuations was deep within this ravine.
The ravine was rugged and difficult to traverse, filled with jagged rocks.
After they had ventured a few hundred meters deeper, Coal Ball suddenly stopped in its tracks and let out a low growl.
Raylo stopped as well.
Just a few dozen meters ahead, an oval rift, about two meters high, was hovering silently in mid-air.
It had appeared out of thin air, as if someone had used an invisible blade to brutally slice an opening in the fabric of space.
Wisps of gray mist were continuously seeping out from the rift.
The mist was saturated with Death Energy, completely devoid of any trace of life.
Just by standing nearby, Raylo could feel a chill, as if his own Life Force was being slowly drained away by the rift.
The entrance to the Skeleton Wasteland.
He had found it.
The rock walls around the rift were already coated in a grayish-white substance resembling bone dust.
The moss growing in the rock crevices had long since withered, turning a grayish-black.
One could only imagine that, if left unchecked, this area would soon be completely assimilated by the Death Energy and transform into a true land of death.
’Go straight in?’
The thought flashed through Raylo’s mind for only a moment before he immediately dismissed it.
’It’s too risky.’
On the other side of the rift lay a completely unknown world.
No one knew what kind of dangers awaited him inside.
’I have to be fully prepared.’
Raylo’s gaze fell upon Coal Ball beside him.
"Coal Ball."
Raylo patted Coal Ball’s little head on his shoulder.
"Awo?"
Coal Ball looked up, confused.
"’Eat’ it and bring it back."
Raylo pointed toward the spatial rift ahead, which was emanating an ominous aura.
"AWOO!"
Coal Ball barked at Raylo.
In the next moment, an invisible ripple suddenly spread out with Coal Ball at its center.
Raylo felt the space around him momentarily stagnate, as if it had turned into a viscous liquid.
Then, an unbelievable scene unfolded.
Directly above the spatial rift in the ravine, the pitch-black night sky seemed to darken further, as if stained with ink.
The phantom image of an incomparably massive head quietly emerged.
It was the head of a dragon.
It was as black as ink, its features ferocious. Two giant horns pointed toward the heavens, as if about to punch two holes in the sky.
The phantom’s eyes were tightly shut.
But its massive silhouette alone radiated a terrifying aura capable of devouring heaven and earth and annihilating all creation.
Then, the giant phantom dragon head slowly opened its eyes.
"KRA... KRAK..."
Space itself cried out as if under an unbearable strain.
The phantom dragon head slowly opened its massive maw.
A pitch-black abyss, even larger than the ravine itself, appeared out of nowhere.
The spatial rift, with its aura of death, was like a small fish being scooped out of the water. It was brutally dragged, along with a large swath of the surrounding contaminated rock face and the very slice of "space" it occupied, into that endless darkness.
Then, the phantom dragon head closed its mouth, and its ethereal eyes shut once more.
The massive head slowly faded, eventually dissipating into the night as if it had never been there.
The ravine returned to silence.
The spatial rift was gone.
The very space it had occupied vanished along with it, without a trace.
All that remained was a massive, mirror-smooth crater, as if a chunk had been scooped out of reality by some invisible force.
"Awoo?"
On Raylo’s shoulder, Coal Ball let out a small burp and licked its paws.
It tilted its head and looked at Raylo, as if seeking praise.
Raylo reached out and stroked Coal Ball’s little head.
’Good thing this little guy is my partner.’
’If it were an enemy, the mere thought is enough to make my skin crawl.’
"Well done, Coal Ball."
"AW!"
Pleased with the praise, Coal Ball happily nuzzled its head against Raylo’s cheek.
